Who cares about numbers? The developer’s choices in what is put in the game, is what determines what they want this game to be.
Developers didn’t choose how this game would be designed - investors did. That’s why it’s so bad. There is no iconic loot or set items because it would have compete with their cosmetic store. This game might as well not even have loot.

I would really like to see the numbers because blizzard has been hiding them for many years, as far as I know the game sold something between 3.5~4 million copies until the 1st week of launch, I don’t think it has passed the 6 million D2R because they would have said that and not to mention that already makes this gme the WORST diablo in sales. I don’t know the player count but I doubt it has 30k active concurrent which is normal for end of league in PoE as far as we know the peak was less than 3 million which is LESS than the PoE record.
This is super cringe cause I’m almost sure you’ve never built a runeword in Diablo 2 or reached 120+ greater rifts in Diablo 3.

Blizz announcements use PR talk. They say it’s the “Fastest selling game in Blizzard history” without specifying what time frame or quantity (was it the fastest selling over 1 minute, 1 day, 1 week? No idea). They’ve never said the quantity other than that the release made about $666M, which would imply 6-7M copies.
Of course, AAA games like this cost ~$1B+ to make, so it’s not clear whether they’ve actually made money or not. This game is probably more expensive than most AAA game because it had very long production delays, a very heavy marketing campaign, etc.

Wait one damned minute, you mean the media knows about this game? I really have been insulating myself it seems.
There’s never going to be iconic set items or loot because that would compete with their cosmetic store. This game is inherently bad design and there’s no way of fixing it in season 1.

that’s the point, nothing is official, everything is released by the paid company there are no real numbers you can’t know how many copies were given or bought with another WoW for example. player count has been removed since gostcrawller’s terrible management. what’s left are third-party sites and for D4 we don’t even have that.
this game has already dropped in less than 1 month and if the seasons are not able to bring public it will be a huge flop

Yep exactly. It’s probably going to be a big flop like D3. The falloff in interest for this game in such a short amount of time is catastrophic, just no-one wants to admit it yet. A huge release like this shouldn’t be losing interest so quickly, but the core systems of the game just don’t work. It’s falling off like new world and Rod’s colonoscopy tunnels aren’t going to be able to save it.

seasons 1 will tarnish a lot of newflakes who anticipate more replay value, only to find out that the malignant heart does not add replay value… and so a week or two after season, expect these forums to be on massive canadian wild fires.
