I know how you feel. I spent about 30 years of my life writing an epic story about a fantasy country where civil war broke out when the king died. Just as I am about to send my epic story called “A Game of Thrones” to a publisher I find out that some George Martin dude wrote a story with the same name. He nicked it all, even the name Eddard which the hero in my story was called. 30 years wasted. O woe is me.
