It’s more than a bit ironic that when I first started playing D1, I soon escaped from the rampant cheating in it by joining a “Legit” clan. An inspection of your gear and inventory (there was no stash) was conducted.
The inspection focused on gear that was impossible to drop, which cheaters usually did. They could have cheated in gear that looked legit and so could have qualified. I wouldn’t have cared.
A Windforce or Eagle Horn always dropped with the same stats, and the first Windforce that I found was from popping open a barrel, i.e., we really didn’t care. A legit Windforce had the exact same stats as any other Windforce, whereas cheaters tended to add stuff that could not drop. It was those guys we wanted to avoid.
As far as D4 is concerned, the devs thought it was a good idea to over-complicate it. They made their bed by doing so. Before I retired, I spent years working for government (yeah, I know, hiss/boo, but I helped keep Enron out of my state, by simply pointing out that the Emperor/Enron was wearing no clothes…)
Also, a cardinal rule for me as bureaucrat is “Don’t make rules you can’t enforce”.
I don’t expect any less from a game developer, who no doubt makes a lot more money, created an imaginary world from scratch, but can’t manage to enforce its own rules?
As a player who farmed countless hours, enough material for 300+ group Duriel runs and have obtained 0 uber uniques it’s quite discouraging.
I mostly PvP but now with the ubers such as Shako and Doombringer making up to a 20% difference in PvP with health, DR, and levels, S3 to me just isn’t fun at all.
It’s a sad fact that the majority of player that I PvP with barely farmed anything other then Duriel 100s of times in a row with duped materials with no repercussions at all. Matter of fact I know some players running Duriel with duped materials as I write this.
2023 and duping is still happening in a Diablo game released in 2023, it’s almost like Blizzard/Activision release their game to be cheated in if that is how you intend to play. Who cares about legit players because they already paid.
Doesn’t really affect me but it would be pretty lame to see everyone decked out in uber uniques and whatnot…at that point it’s like D2 with all those hacked charms back in the day.
My goal is not to be in top 10 or even top 100. If the leaderboards offer a reasonable goal I can set for myself I’m up for a challenge.
There used to be a website where you can see players with most powerful items in Diablo 3 and I ended up having an item which was in Top 10 EU region. That felt like a nice achievement even though it was all about luck.
For now, outside of the very small segment of PvP focused individuals it doesn’t matter that much if people are duping.
That population though of people impacted by duping grows once leaderboards and gauntlet start in S3 so Blizzard needs to get this problem figured out.
I personally don’t care that much as D4 is essentially a glorified single player game for me. I treat dupes in D4 just like I did in D2 - don’t care as it doesn’t really impact my gameplay. Now, if the team ever decided to put real effort into PvP I would potentially care.
It really doesn’t effect anyone, Why would items someone else has matter how I play my game? Even if someone who had duped items was in a dungeon with me who cares it just makes it ez mode and you get free loot.
I think it could. I mean, if it becomes a situation where dupers or people who deal with dupers are able to stockpile and kit out their characters with ubers, then things like Duriel rotations or the upcoming raid content could favor those with ubers versus those without. And me being a non-duper with no ubers am going to have a harder time trying to get into groups to do this content.
Doesn’t affect me but I want it gone and all cheaters (of every kind) banned. I mostly play alone and want a full on solo mode but a large part of why I prefer that is so I don’t have to interact with all the crap that goes on in public.
At the moment? No. Because i honestly only play with 4 people that i know irl. And we font really play with or trade with randoms. If trading was a bigger deal or there was an ah. Then yeah i would care but only becauee i wouldny wanna get scammed or accidentally banned.
If only Blizzard gave even a single darn about Season 2 and the bugged Helltides like they are so concerned with people circumventing the broken Helltides they refuse to acknowledge or fix.
The reason I care about cheating is because it ruins the fun for other people. There’s nothing fun about some aimbotter coming into a match and killing everyone through the mesh and structures before you can even move. It ruins the pvp and the pve for many.
It becomes a neverending toxic culture of one-upping each other via any means necessary.
It comes from D3 players. They were ALWAYS chirping about something or somebody they want banned even if it has ZERO effect on them or the game at all (no economy, no leaderboards, no trading)
Imagine if you will, just playing the game and not worrying about everyone else??
How exactly does it affect you? Fine they are banned, still takes you the same amount of time to do the same task…NOTHING has changed for you at all. Nothing
