Disappearing Helltide Chests with plenty of time left in Helltide?

Is this a bug? I’ve been marking Helltide chests on my map, ones I want to open once I get the shards for them, but when I get back to them, they disappear. Sometimes they disappear in front of me as soon as I start walking up to them.

Happened multiple times yesterday.

Are they on timers? Why do they disappear?

The chests will move i believe… once? There’s a cycle.

They move around (and reset) at 1:00, 2:00, etc. (Any x:00 time)

So they will move in the middle of a Helltide?

That seems rather stupid.

Yes. But you can see where they are.

It’s definitely a positive thing that they move. If you’re playing efficiently, you can sometimes open three or four boxes instead of only two. Take a look at helltides dot com. They show timers and player generated marked box locations in real time.

Chest locations reset, cus…reasons.

Why not just put more chests in the event?

If you’re sweaty & farm efficiently (like a true Diablo player) you can get multiple spawns of the 175 chests. You caught the respawn.

Why not just send your loot to you with ingame mail? There should be a “game” to it. I think it’s a lot of fun leaving a hell tide after collecting 4 mysteries and three regular boxes. I have to hustle to do that and that’s the fun part for me.

The reward needs to reflect the effort. In that sense Helltide feels worthwhile.

This is just another example of how the always online cloud based, working on timers theme park loot system isn’t thoughtfully implemented.

Sorry I didn’t mean to upset you, I’ll tread more carefully in the future.

My bad.

:joy:

Zero upset here <3 sorry for triggering your unnecessary empathy.

Yep. Becuase they do swap half way, you can farm 4 mysterious chest per HT.

I know the mystery chests change locations, but the normal ones seem to do so as well. For example I found a helm chest, and then when i got enough cinders to go back to it, it was completely gone. It wasn’t the top of the hour either, it happened at around 10:45

I’m not finding any information anywhere about helltides that isn’t about mystery chests. Im aware also that chests relocate on the hour… however. I’ve the other chests disappear and relocate nowhere near that mark. And the website only tracks mystery chests. There’s no information about the remaining chests. Ingame or out. Do they have set numbers? Are they random? How often do those rotate? Nothing.

It has happened three times that I gather cinders and look for a high cost weapons chest and had it disappear just when I click on it. Two of the three times have not been on the minute and with less than 5 minutes left in Helltide. Several other times I have clicked on a high cost weapons chest to have it give a health globe and nothing else.

Very frustrating. Almost like the algorithm is designed to insure you don’t advance your gear too fast, even when you are able to defeat powerful monsters.
