Did Diablo 4 win GOTY?

Not sure if this is a trolling post. This game is not worthy of GotY

The lack of variety in mobs killed Hogwarts for me. I do understand that the lore only gives them so much to work with, but it’s a magic universe, there were ways around that. I just lost interest after fighting endless waves of the same spiders and wolves.

I can. You had no impact on story and decisions didnt matter. You could even use forbiden spell and no1 gave a damn. Not even teachers lol. Meanwhile in bg3 every decision matters and characters actually feel like characters and not braindead npcs.

Dont get me wrong for me Hogwarth is 7.5 or even 8 /10 game but I mainly like it cause of nostalgia.

Whether or not npcs react to choices is meaningless to me. Not everything needs to be Fable for it to be a good game.

How far did you get? Those are just the starter mobs, then you’re dealing with wizards, goblins, ogres, etc.

Diablo 6?!?! wow dude, you from the future?

also, IV didnt win anything. lol

To be fair though, good multiplayer isn’t just about having other players on the screen with you. How you interact with those players in game is what multiplayer is truly about. So BG3 winning that isn’t as bonkers as it sounds.

Especially when D4 world bosses are like 12 people that don’t really even care that the other person is there – or if they do care, it’s more often resentment towards the BL sorc.

D4 never had a chance… the idea of them winning is blasphemous. The thought shouldn’t even be allowed, it should come with a $50k fine and jail time.

Some people do not like that type of rpg. It is not an action rpg by any means so it is difficult for some players to even grasp. It is a far older type of game than the original Diablo.

I did not watch it either, but D4 is a winner for me, with a few other games I play, and that’s all that matters.

not even close.
have you played d4? lol

D4 wasn’t even nominated for GOTY, what are you smoking?

English smoke… not cheap knock offs that make you sick at extortionate rates and even try buying cheaper products to sell… big con.

The game is at a constant 40% off for like 2 months lol I’d expect they will cut it to at least 50% for the holidays. Not even Blizzard thinks the game is worthy of a nomination at this level tbh

I do not even consider it a rpg. More like a real time tactics type game. Id rather play FF tactics to be honest.

I stopped reading professional reviews when I bought Grand Turismo for the PS5 and saw what trash it was. Too much market for false consumer ratings.

CRPG are not for everyone and the game was also praised for showing example on how dev should developpe a game and indirectly called out today’s lazy dev in the gaming world.

why are people making such a fuss over it? is every game that didnt win goty crap?

bg 3 won very well deserved. not my favorite game, but its a nice quality really.

The comparison between Elden Ring and BG3 are fairly appropriate.
I would not consider either Elden Ring or BG3 as the best games in their respective genres, but when solely looking at the years they released, they are among the top games for sure, and very justified as #1 picks for those two years. They also managed to break through in terms of both sales and recognition, in a way that most of their predecessors did not.

Indeed. The awards are fairly meaningless for anyone except the people who win them (they get some free advertisement and recognition).
There are plenty of good games released in 2023. They cant all share a single “award”.
Diablo 4 was not one of these good games of course. But tbh that was also very expected from the start.

Divinity Original Sin was awesome. That was my first experience with the genre and I liked it a lot, played it for a long time. There was so much to do even though it was technically linear. I did practically everything you could do because it was so engaging.

I didn’t play Divinity 2 yet (although it is installed) but I heard it’s even better. Much better. And Baldur’s Gate 3 is even better than that. They must be some seriously high quality games to be that good. The problem is those games are intimidating because they are so long and detailed. Ironically that’s what I like – it’s just getting over that initial barrier of “let’s just do it”.

It’s not the same I don’t believe, but the Marvel Midnight Suns was really good too. That’s a turn-based game with cards and they really nailed all the Marvel characters & atmosphere. It’s also quite complex and long but not difficult to understand or get into. I heard it didn’t perform that well commercially which is a real bummer. They deserved better.

I need to play Marvel Midnight Suns some day. I am just very uninterested in the whole Marvel heroes stuff, which has kept me away.

In my opinion Divinity Original Sin 2 is a lot better than 1. A different league. Definitely worth playing for anyone liking the first one.
I wouldn’t necessarily say BG3 is better. They are both very good in different ways. BG3 has a mindblowing production value, in its presentation, voice acting, story etc. Divinity 2 got a really clever combat system which to me goes a long way.
