Diablo IV invisible/no game window after Season 12 update (macOS via CrossOver)

Platform: macOS Tahoe 26.3.1, Apple M1 Max, CrossOver 26.0, D3DMetal backend

Issue: After the Season 12 update (patch 2.6.0), Diablo IV launches from
Battle.net but the game window never appears. The process is running (visible
in Activity Monitor, consuming CPU), but no game window or graphics are
displayed. The game must be force-quit.

This was working normally before the Season 12 update with the same
CrossOver version, macOS version, and bottle configuration. No changes
were made to the system between the last successful launch and the failure.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open CrossOver 26.0 on macOS Tahoe 26.3.1 (Apple Silicon M1 Max)
  2. Launch Battle.net from Diablo IV bottle (D3DMetal, MSync enabled)
  3. Click Play on Diablo IV
  4. Battle.net shows game as “Playing” and the Diablo IV process appears
    in Activity Monitor using CPU
  5. No game window ever appears — no splash screen, no graphics, nothing

Expected: Game window appears and renders normally (as it did pre-Season 12)

Troubleshooting attempted:

  • CrossOver 26.0 (latest version)
  • D3DMetal + MSync enabled
  • Windows version set to Windows 11 in Wine settings
  • Registry CurrentBuild/CurrentBuildNumber set to 19042
  • Emulate virtual desktop enabled at native resolution
  • Bottle recreated via CrossTie

Note: This pattern matches a known Rosetta 2 deadlock caused by Blizzard’s
Eidolon anti-cheat system, which previously broke Overwatch 2 (late 2024)
and Diablo II: Resurrected (January 2026) on CrossOver/macOS. If Eidolon
was deployed or updated for Diablo IV in patch 2.6.0, it would explain this
exact symptom. The fix for prior occurrences required an Apple Rosetta 2
update, but macOS 26.4 (which may contain the fix) has not been released yet.

I don’t think Microsoft or Blizzard cares, but this deserves to be pushed forward.
It should at least work when the add-on arrives.

Hi all,

Same problem here with MACOS 26.3.1, Crossover 26.0 and my MAC M3+

I confirm that before updating to season 12 version (build 2.6.0.70982) all is working well

EDIT1 : not working with version Windows 10 and Windows 11 on y bottle

Same problem for me on my M4 Max system. Worked like a charm until the S12 update. Quite annoying I can’t play on my main computer anymore. I bought the expansion and hope this can get somehow addressed before it comes out :frowning:

Someone send a support mail to codeweavers ?

EDIT 1: i’ve sent a message to codeweaver support about this hope they could find a fix or at least a workaround

I ran the exact same troubleshoots and nothing worked (Tahoe 26.3.1, Apple Silicon M3 Max, Crossover 26.0)

I also downgraded my macOS from Tahoe 26.3.1 down to Sequoia 15.7.4 and it still has the same issue.

Does anyone with an older MacOS on Apple Silicon laptop have any success?

Hello, Thank you for reaching out to us. After an update to Diablo II: Resurrected and now Diablo IV, we’ve confirmed that this issue is on Apple’s side of things. Unfortunately, we don’t have a specific timeframe for when a resolution will be available. However, we’ve documented this issue and submitted a bug report to Apple for investigation as this is marked as high priority. I have attached your ticket to the bug report and we will reach out to you as soon as Apple has a resolution. Regards, CodeWeavers Support

Thanks for your quick reply.

I am having this exact same issue, as confirmed by so many others, it is indeed a Rosetta 2 issue. I popped up during the Tahoe 26.3.1 updates which also fixed some security issues. While I do not know exactly what those issues were, I can tell you there is a ton of cracked software out there that NO LONGER WORKS on mac os if it used the gatekeeper cracks. I have seen this on many other boards as well, as it popped up at the exact same time as the D4 stop work happened. Users were reporting any of their cracked apps would suddenly show the “circle with a line through it” on the icon and the app wouldnt launch. boohoo for them, but for legit users, that same fix hosed the rosetta 2 installaion too.

Just installed Tahoe 26.4. Was hoping it would work, but the problem persists. It’s on Apple’s end and they don’t want to fix the glitch on Rosetta 2 apparently. Was really looking forward to playing season 12. WoW Midnight is playable on Mac M1. Wish Diablo 4 would be as well, but not holding my breath. I don’t think I will be renewing Crossover next time.

No now we are waiting for codeweaver new version to handle correctly this update

I updated my m3 imac with ios 26.4 this morning (03/28/2026) Diablo iv, going through crossover (latest update) Still, will not show the play screen after starting the game. It’s been a couple weeks of not working now.

I have the same issue. M4 Max, Crossover 26, Mac OS 26.4.

It works now on Crossover 26 and Mac OS 26.4.0. But game glitches out and freezes after 15-20min of play. Sometimes it does not. So basically still mostly unplayable.

this is where we are stuck at. its annoying. If something is freezing after a short time of play, it reels like a cache issue that needs to be cleared or something. If it was broke straight up, it pretty much wouldn’t run at all.just had this happen yet again after attempting to run it about a dozen times with several different graphic configs, but no matter what, the freezing is random around around 5-15 minutes into game play. number of graphics on the screeen doesnt make a difference. just random solid freeze. And its a system wide freeze, as I cannot just coomand tab to another window. I finally got around having to do a total power (cold) reboot by having the “Force Quit Applications” window open. We are now a few weeks into season 12 and no sign of relief in target. It would be great to see a solution soon!

I’m on Mac M1 Max, Crossover 26.1 and Battle.net latest.

Same problem. Game window does not launch. I did upgrade Crossover to latest version, with same results unfortunately. This is the only app I run crossover for! Mac players shouldn’t have to go through this! Hope a solution comes soon.
