Diablo cannot continue following the mindless hack n slash formula

I don’t care at all about being rewarded for my skill. That’s not why I play Diablo at all.
I just want to get new flashy ways to kill demons every few months, that’s my reward.

You are inexperienced in D4. D4 has advance Hammerdin gameplay. It’s called Lidless Wall Necromancer… far more advanced than D2’s 1-button DPS rotations. It humiliates the simplicity of the old Diablo games.

I feel i am better than the last Seasons i played on D4 and doing higher difficulty content on the same build that most players on Necro forums considered it as broken.

and the title to this thread says Diablo can’t continue following the mindless hack and slash formula
which Diablo has always been and now at Diablo 4 you have decided it can’t be the game it’s always been and has to change

Feel better now after abusing a lady

It was just an example. I doubt OP wants to change the genre. It’s more like what many of us have been arguing about lately, gameplay engagement.

Season 2 made an easy overall game, so easy to the point where 2 crucial aspects of the ARPG genre are taking a hit. Gameplay, Build Optimization.

Since the game is so easy, there’s no real need for the player to optimize their build. Just wear whatever drops, follow the green arrow up and you’re good to go. The gameplay loop is also quite boring and bland as a consequence as well. You are a literal God from lvl1 all the way to max lvl. The game hands over everything to you with no effort.

Everything D4 has done that isn’t mindless hack and slash has been bothersome at best and a colossal failure at worst. Sometimes you gotta stick with your strengths.

what the hell are you talking about?

This x 1000.
Seen this so much lately in far more places than just these boards.
If dont like a game or genre, well, maybe it’s not for you.

As to the op, again, this x1000. If remove that gameplay element from Diablo then it’s not Diablo. If blizz wants to make some kind of narrative turn based rpg, or real MMO in the setting, cool, but that would not be a core diablo game.

you’re not gonna get a star sticker on your forehead for buttering a green post, stop being cringe

maybe this just not your game .

Go play Elden ring. This isn’t elden ring. This isn’t supposed to be hard. It’s based on luck and it’s about the fun builds and loot.
Problem this game has loot is too meh to have any kind of challenge. There should be items that give a very noticeable difference when you equip it.
There should also be content that can be done if you have those same items.
That’s how RPGs work. You find better gear and come back. Now everything is meh!

I think it can continue just fine. it a top title from a top company.

I was hoping for a little more focus on the RPG aspects that I seem to recall early announcements implying was going to be a thing. I love the lore and world of Sanctuary but there are no meaningful choices for the player to make. Every playthrough is identical regardless of class. I knew it wouldn’t be a Dragon Age or Baldur’s Gate level of RPG but I was hoping for something more than what we got.

Best dopamine for you is hardcore :joy:

You missed the point of what OP was saying like Blizzard missed the point of what D4 should be.

He wasn’t talking about genre of the game, he was ok with it being hack and slash, he was very specific how the game is mindless and too easy. Enemy mechanics are nonexistent they just run at you and die. You don’t have to dodge, side step, block, or use any mechanic to defeat them.

Even bosses are too easy, they die to fast so you don’t even have to dodge them either, zero mechanics in the entire game apart from broken Lilith fight where you instantly die by out of sight skillshot that you can’t even see.
