How does one balance around PVP other than making all classes the exact same so its all skill based? I have seen games that have better pvp than others but never has it been balanced. Also like the other dude said, only 12 people pvp (trust me its a fact don’t but google it) anyways so seems like a waste of time and resources.
For all the people here with the incredibly ill-informed statements such as
who on earth plays pvp? Besides 6 ppl and their dogs.
Hmm. Clever. Sorry, I don’t get what is even supposed to be funny about that. In fact, I feel like if that were true, then show me on the doll where the 6ppl and their doggos hurt you. It’s ok to be a noob ghost. That’s why you get that free complimentary bedsheet to allow ppl to see your deadness.
The PvP community in this game exists, though not as broad as we used to be, mainly because every season since S4 the gap between Firewall’s dmg and our ability to mitigate it gets bigger and bigger. I will save the majority of my thoughts about Blizzards recent decisions about dot dmg reduction (or the lack thereof) and the unhealthy direction i feel the game is heading in for another time.
For now:
I don’t understand why people are so against even the idea of something that they either don’t intend on participating in, or tried, got their ego’s hurt and now carry around the emotional damage from getting wrecked while trying to turn in their precious pvp zone whispers. If ya don’t want to participate in PvP, then your opinion here is irrelevant, and you should prob show some self control and avoid making any comment at all.
If you don’t like pvp, cool. Have fun killing monsters. See ya!
IMHO there is no better show of skill or game knowledge than winning against another player you view as an equal, or peer, in a properly balanced pvp system, and no better feeling of accomplishment either. Diablo Immortal does it. But sadly the rest of that game is totally a toxic mess of the worst traits of human beings combined with subliminal warfare targeting the wallet. Knowing that, still I played Battlegrounds’ ONE mode of team based, objective pvp, for multiple hours every day, on both F2P and high resonance characters. So the balance excuse doesn’t really hold up when you have that sort of thing out in the world. ARPG with pvp isn’t impossible. I think if the devs were smart, they would take advantage of all the work we pvp’rs have contributed publicly, all the tournament rules, etc and hell, maybe even hire one or two of us with computer science degrees to get the wheels rolling. People are sick of these pre-built, cookie cutter pvp games that the world has to offer currently. They are. I know because I’ve tried just about all of them, some for many hours, some for many years. And there is a desire to play pvp in some type of game that lets the user choose wholly what they want to do, and how they want to do it, and encourages creativity, cleverness, preparation and skill, knowledge of thine enemy, and a true understanding of the game, and rewards these things with bliss and ears (that function like conch shells btw, put one to your ear, and always hear the sound of their tears that day)
I was severely let down when I didn’t find a new area in Nahantu’s red sanded areas.
How much resource would it honestly take to give us even something, a new area we can bloodmark and fight over something in? A little mini game of capture the flag. I could write code for something like that in a game with an already established codebase in about 20 minutes. I find the lack of even an acknowledgement by the devs wholly disrespectful, because we are the ones who love the game enough to find a new goal to accomplish after we’ve crushed literally ALL of the PvE content in a season. The ones who grind and play the game the most. The ones who vehemently defend the game, and try to tell others how good it really is at it’s core, who believe in how much potential it truly has, and the ones who are truly the most upset to watch it be squandered away.
I’ve played this game since Server Slam. I don’t know how many hours I have but it has to be somewhere between 5000 and 10000 hours playing this game. I was there when you said you didn’t want us focusing on just crit dmg and vuln dmg, took that as a challenge and that season I made an overpower build first. I remember everything.
I see patterns in developer behavior and decisions that I recognize as toxic and self destructive. Not sure how much more I’m gonna allow myself to be a part of it, as I find myself actively searching for another game that I love as much as I do D4.
I have a feeling one will turn up eventually, sooner rather than later, so FFS blizz, stop worrying about money for once and just do the right thing. And get some decent testers for the love of God. 2 huge bugs this season, that are clearly just oversights, and/or a total lack of understanding about how systems and their coded rules, can affect each other and themselves.
Y’all got me down bad, but I ain’t gonna mope around for long, I’m gonna go find something else to do. But first, I’m gonna go play with my 5 other friends and our dogs, and see what spiritborn can do with something other than the Kepeleke rod and banished lords talisman.
GG.
RESPECT man! The most “to the point” and comprehensive comment i have seen so far. Indeed, the ppl who care for pvp, is those who really care of the game. Ppl who flame pvpers are those who have real complexes cause probably cant get on this stuff and flame.
Sorry for being so long-winded, I have a lot of feelings on the matter, and about this game. Thanks for the kind words.
