Diablo 4 Item UI idea (picture)

He just made it look like D3 LUL. It’s not original.

A worse version of d3. He literally copied the d3 legendary frame and title, then put d4 information in it.

/sigh

ugly? Ill agree, the top part having way too much black is gross looking, the italicized font is debatable, the main thing was adding borders, coloring the font, and maybe simplifying the layout a little?

confusing? how so, can you elaborate on what is confusing you? did removing the ‘fast weapon’ text throw your brain into a frenzy?

off-putting? what is, the black text/font? the layout?

I’ve seen a lot of your comments around the forum and you cry/complain a lot.
I’d love to see what you could come up with, lemme know when you got something

The italics, spacing, different font size and colors, left and right aligned with various padding, all makes it chaotic.

When i look at it i don’t really know where to look or want to look at it.

That covers ugly and off putting, and to some degree confusing.
My criticism here has been pretty constructive both on your post and the other guys… if you’d care to read that you may have come to a different conclusion about me. What I’ve not done is cry and complain about stuff.

I’m generally happy with the way d4 is going, people on the forums on the other hand that don’t seem to know what they want or what they’re talking about is a problem.

Btw, I’ve given multiple suggestions for ways to improve the known issues. But I’m not going to make up problems that don’t exist and demand that Blizz fix them like the other crazies on here.

Ahh, your tone in this post is much better than some of your others, ty.

If you’re ever bored enough, I’d still love to see your take on what an item and it’s descript could look like. The current item is there for you to use as a starter picture. You could also use websites like https://pixlr.com/e/ to edit and create something.

Something that isn’t ugly, off putting or confusing to you. That way I could be like ’ ohh okay, that’s what he means . ’ because I still don’t understand what you’d want, more specifically what is confusing you?

I think we’d both agree, that if we get what we already had in the beta, we wont care. but also, could it be improved upon? yep

Jesus that is so much better

My personal opinions on UIs.

I am the least artistic person ever when it comes to these things. For me it is all about functionality and organization of information. “Pretty” does not even cross my mind.

Can I find the info I need in a readable format. Is the critical info I need in a location, font, color that makes it stand out. Are associated things grouped together. Are they listed in the same order on each item so I can more easily compare items. Are the fonts and colors used accessible with the UI scale and color adjustments for people with low vision or color blindness?

Of these I think I still prefer something like clueso’s that has the Legendary Affix at the top of the affix list and the random affixes listed below it. This esp matters when we have to scroll the affixes in the UI to view them all. I want to know what this Legendary is, if I need it, if I want to extract the Legendary power for later crafting, or if I want to salvage the item.

I was going to have a go, but I’m not a great graphic artist.
However i started building websites in 1992.
I worked and literally sat next to a creative designer from 2000 to 2007 while working on corporate internets and ecommerce applications, and since moved on to better things.

So i have a decent amount of in depth knowledge based on that time, including disability training and development and working with project managers etc… to know what the rules of UI design are.

What i would probably do is simply rewrite the attribute affixes so that the numbers appear in a vertical list with what they change afterwards, and probably in a slightly different color.

The rest of it is pretty much fine as it is.

The advanced/comparison tooltip is where i think a lot more work is needed though. Looking at a tooltip on its own is fine, but when you compare items it’s not particularly easy to understand.

If i get chance i might have a stab at it.

I like it. It’s a lot more intuitive and easier to read what you want at a glance

I finally had a little bit of a play around - left is the original, right is my take:

https://imgur.com/a/wyBehNz

I’ve tried to keep font-sizes consistent, anymore than 3 different sizes causes readability issues, so I have exactly 3 (I didn’t change the title or sell/durability sizes though).

I fixed some of the kerning issues, because line spacing was inconsistent. I’ve gone with 3 different ones again, not including the big gap between the affixes and the legendary affix - that would of course need to be change, perhaps by adding another border line.

I’ve fixed some of the inconsistency in the language, instead of some instances of “Per” and some of “per” they’re all “per”, and i’ve removed inconsistent trailing “.”, and moved “Fast Weapon” to the top to make the weapon stats cleaner.

All numbers are in white with all text in grey to highlight them and draw attention to them without making them too ‘in your face’, including the ‘requires level 16’ part.
Lucky Hit I broke out separately, just in case you can get multiple lucky hit on 1 item, then they can all be listed without “Lucky Hit” displayed multiple times.

I moved the weapon icon down a little to cater to the single line item name (bit of a bodge job), but I wholly expect some names to wrap either way, it just looks cleaner on this item.

I also removed all of the decimals unless it’s actually a non-integer, this might not be particularly nice once there are mixed values, but it looks good when they’re all .0%.

Edit: Also re-ordered the affixes to be alphabetical, they should of course be grouped in to offense / defense / utility etc… first, but we don’t have that much to play with on this item.

nice, looks cleaner for sure, I like the removal of that bar next to dmg per hit / attacks per sec, always thought it looked a bit weird. I think if I tweaked your version as little as I could, I would get rid of those weird brackets around the damage per hit. not bad though dude, gj

so literally, the diablo 3 UI… LOL…

I much prefer the D4 version.

I love this improvment and I really hope they see this topic.

That looks much cleaner!

It sure does look cleaner, much easier to “read”. Good job :beers:
