I just read this post. Man are you in for a surprise! The current game director of Diablo 4 is a veteran Blizzard developer that has worked on multiple games across the company but most notably and relevant to what you are saying he was a “Senior Game Designer” for Diablo 3.
Yes, these types of lead positions are directly responsible for the ideas that make it into the game. Also for Diablo 4 he is literally the Game Director. He is the conductor of the orchestra.
So in other words; They learned nothing from that while developing Diablo 4.
Yep, sounds about right.
Did it have endgame even after RoS? It is an arcade game, where you on selection screen pick between classes and then a sub-choice of what set to pick. Every single item is preset for you. Then you go do greater rifts to do higher and higher number with no difference between them.
D3 was never an aRPG. Its an Action-Arcade game.
its a loot find game where you find plenty of loot, you just dont pick it up.
D3 wasn’t good until Blizz abandoned it and let a skeleton crew run it.
HotS wasn’t good until Bliss abandoned it and left a skeleton crew to run it.
WoW stopped being good until indies started classic servers up, and then Blizz shut that down and now WoW is bad again.
Blizz is too big, and doesn’t understand that too many cooks in the kitchen ruins the stew. Probably 3/4 of the team working on D4 doesn’t do anything but exist on the payroll, which COMPLETELY explains why D4 cosmetics are insanely overpriced. That and greed, but they’re paying millions to people who aren’t even a benefit to the company which really screws with your bottom line.
Look at all these campfire chats, dev playthroughs, etc. Most of these guys couldn’t even tell you what most of the content in the game even is. Everyone hates T.Howard but the dude could explain his teams games off the top of his head. D4 devs can’t explain it when they’re playing it.
This isn’t quite true.
Diablo 3 had rifts and chores before RoS. RoS added Grifts and made Rifts free to access and changes the chores.
Diablo 3 before RoS had set bonuses.
That’s true. I love how people act here now like D3 was some kind of masterpiece. While the same people were the ones crying and b**t about how bad D3 was when it came out.
(disclaimer: I loved playing D3)
It isn’t an excuse that probably this game will be awesome in 2 years too.
But D3 was not better in that regards.
Dude people here comparing D4 to PoE2 (a not even existing game yet) or other games from an other genre even like BG3.
And according to you, comparing it to the game from the same IP, developed by the same company is an unfair comparison? Oh boy.
Diablo 3 still has no endgame. G.Rifts, like NMDs are not endgame bro. If you’re having fun in those, good for you. But they’re not endgame.
D4 will be getting endgame activities in Season 3. We’ll see how that goes.
I’d argue they didn’t really exist til season 2 onwards which was about a year after RoS release. That being said I don’t expect the same timeline, builds, teams w.e anymore. If D3 taught me anything it was that I shouldn’t have bought D4. I already made that mistake but I am having so much fun playing other games right now. D4 was easily my worst purchase of the year. AC6 was a preorder I have no regrets with. Now they are very different games, very different genres but I can tell you not one crash or bug and just smoothest experience of my life. Fromsoft is a company that arguably does better with every title they release! Blizzard just does the complete opposite.
Why do american houses have such expansive lawns? They look like a waste of space. A garden would look nicer and you’ll get a lot of animals coming in.
D3 has improved HUGELY over the years. The same will likely happen with D4, so I have some hope.
Oh dear lord another Poe White Knight. PoE is horrible. “Hey look at me kill crabs. How fun!”
Also D3 didnt have really any competition, so it was Diablo 3 or like titan quest or torchlight.
Also people hated D3 for having no endgame.
Also I wanted to point out that D3, which didnt have an endgame until ROS, was also sunset after the ROS expansion, that did give it endgame. People really only remember D3 fondly for some time in ROS at the end. SO this is a clear sign the fans didnt like the no endgame wait for ROS. Why do that again in D4?
Its obvious to see that you completely missed the point of Diablo 3 Vanilla’s End game, I am not surprised at all.
Most people quit over Error 32, something so simple due to Millions of players logging into 1 server, I wouldn’t expect most casual players to understand it or the end-game & you can see this reflected into D4 and how dumbed down it is.
So here it is
Diablo 3 Vanilla’s end game had 2 sources of End-game. Inferno + The AH.
Lets start with Inferno. Yup. That’s right, The last game mode. That mode everyone tried to rush without semi perfect gear or builds, then started crying due to skill issues & bad gear.
The point was players would spend a time in “Hell” In order to to get the amazing gear to use or sell then when they got Hi-level optimization in there build, they could proceed to Inferno.
Now the AH, Making money for playing the game I love, Thank you for that Almost Perfect Mempo that sold for 2.7billion Gold, My 1st big sale.
Perfect stat rolled sets & legs that sold for 50$$, Yes please! By far the best end-game I have played. Sorry so many missed out and started getting jelly & hating. You all killed it tho, so good for you I guess?
This is why I excelled and kids got on forums and cried. I wasn’t unique, I was just up there with the best players who also knew these things. Played for 3 Days in Hell for 12 - 14 Hours. Got stat perfect yellows and some great legendary items & was rolling Inferno on Day 4. It was also of fun making thousands of dollars of the AH.
So sorry. You are wrong.
Well, firstly, as the final content, there were about 7 levels of the world (if I remember correctly), each subsequent of which was more difficult. And many tried to defeat the last boss at the maximum difficulty level.
Diablo 3 is a piece of trash as well. Absolute garbage. To this day it’s junk. They destroyed the Diablo franchise starting with Diablo 3
D3 is second best ARPG game of all times, after D2:LoD. I played 500 hours of Season 28.
Humans used to starve to death persistence chasing game through the savannah, we used to build huts out of mud, leaves, and sticks. Drink contaminated water from streams, cut down trees to burn in our house.
Just because something USED to happen doesn’t mean it should continue, or that current garbage situations are acceptable. Imagine if everytime someone went to erect a structure they forgot all engineering lessons and just winged it, because, hey, whatever theh never built a structure before so who needs to go back into your DECADES OF EXPERIENCE when you can just ignore that and wing it) you’d have no problem living in that structure right?
I will never understand the “blizzard has been fixing these same issues in every iteration of this game for 20+ years now!” Crowd who seems to see that as a positive, instead of a staggering testiment to ineptitude and ignorance, if not outright intentional malice.
