D2 is a different and better philosophy. You work for long term achievements. Which in return make the game better as time go on. Having exponentially more fun after 1300 hours than at 10 hours mark. All the GG runeword and builds come online… d4 is the exact opposite…

Agreed. I had more fun playing D2R than D4. I bought D4 hoping it could be as good but it’s not. I can’t think of a single aspect in which D4 is better. Not even graphics.

Got to remember D2 was created by a whole different dev team back when creating games was about creating an awesome game. The D2 devs were gamers and knew what they were putting together.
The D4 team is none of the above.

Even though by today’s standard, the game is dated, it should have been the basis for D3 and then D4…

No, it’s not a better game at the moment. I played Diablo 2 for several years and when D2R came out I waited for it to be at a discount, when that happened, I bought it, played a game and never played it again. I bought it just to remember those times when I played it, but now seeing it with better graphics, but I don’t feel like spending days doing Ballruns again
If you have played Diablo 2 for 20 years, it is for comfort and you do not feel like trying anything new, which says that you are not really a gamer, also these repetitive behaviors are usually a symptom of a problem that needs to be solved, nobody in their right mind would continue playing the same game with the offer that currently exists, especially that it does not even cross your mind to try new things, it is crazy
? Still waiting for a d2 replacement. Tried every arpg out there and not found. Really disappointed with d4 as l was with d3. Will not play a sub par product just caus its new. D2 is king and is better the more you play. Waiting to see poe2. Grim dawn was decent but graphically bad shame.

Only thing D2(R) has over D4 is the itemization/trading, something that can be easily fixed/improved in D4.
D2 was a master piece when it came out and for a few years after, but now, objectively, it’s clunky/showing its age and os nowhere near PoE, Grim Dawn, D3/4, etc.

I’ve played D2 on and off for 20 years because the gameplay loop is satisfying but according to you I am not really a gamer (never mind the fact I got the platinum on all Soulsborne games), or simply mentally unstable (I must be because I didn’t have the patience to click on all 160 altars isn’t it repetitive enough for you ?- there are less merlin trials in Hogwarts Legacy)
Its very simple, in D2’s case the game is just THAT good and the direct sequels are lackluster.
Otherwise people wouldn’t be playing it.

Diablo 2 Resurrected is better than Diablo 4
Being honest: both are terrible and both do not have endgame whatsoever
On D2 you will farm on the same zones you will play when well geared. There’s no progression whatsoever. Also, with just your skills alone and mediocre gear you can do almost everything the game has. Not to mention the endless boring repetition over and over (chaos, meme, cow, etc) which is the same as dungeon on D4, boring, repetitive over and over.

No it cant. Legendary aspects have ruined d4. You get them early. Than for the rest of the game you just slam the same legendary powers over and over and over again on better gear. They loose all meaning. When you instant have your core endgame effects what is the point of playing……
On top of that most effects are conditionnal which further destroy the game experience caus you need to play the way devs want.
Now if in 2-3 years from now we get charms, jewels, runewords, white item bases. It could help. But if runewords are again conditional effects… they missed the mark…

Well thats the way you choose to play my man…d2 is all about liberty. The whole game in hell and every zone is a dungeon. Ig you care more about efficiancy than fun do that brainless farming. I love the game so all of it is in the rotation. Caus infact GG gear drop from everywhere not only 85+ aera or terrorized zones (great add to d2r)
D4 is not the greatest game but its much better than D2 stop living on nostalgia. Ofc for its time D2 was a master piece but its hard to keep playing it more than 1 playthrough.
Any zone will result on the same I stated: You will farm on the same zones you will play when well geared. There’s no progression at all so no endgame at all. The mod project diablo at least tried to include an “endgame activity” (not that I think it succeded but at least tried something)
No endgame!? Huge endgame nearly endless infact! Did you see all the rolls on gear? D2 endgame is items. And ho boy how great they are. Endgame is maxing all characters out and even trying meme builds.
and what about PD2 
It is like diablo 2 if endgame was not made by Blizzard !
