Stay Awhile and Listen!
Just noticed Diablo 1 classic is available on Bnet for $7.99 and got me wondering if D1 could get some Remaster love like W1 and W2 but also curious as to what would be better - a remaster or a full remake or somewhere in between? What do you all think? Would you buy it? What would you want to see in it? My thoughts:
Remaster Wish List
- Updated graphics, obviously. I loved the D2 Remaster seamlessly able to swap between new and original - the difference is staggering how much improved D2R was. Would love to see D1 with an updated 4K fresh coat of paint with new effects
- Updated Music soundtrack. I absolutely love the original soundtrack from Tristram to the dungeon levels. A fresh remaster would be amazing
- A new hero class. Currently we have Warrior, Rogue, Sorcerer, Monk. Would be great to see just one more - my vote is on a Necromancer or otherwise a “dark” knight so to speak for a mix between spells and fighting.
- New specific “spells” or abilities per hero, gained by finding specific class specific tomes
- RUN! Be able to run not just in town but in the dungeons too.
- Much larger inventory and a Stash Chest that can be shared across your characters
- Unique equipment specific to each class, just a few, but highly prized equipment that highlight the best attributes of each
Remake Wish List
- Same updated graphics that the Remaster would have. Should look as good as D2 remaster.
- New FMV’s telling the story of Aidan. Aidan returning to Tristram, and going solo to find his brother. You as the hero go to follow him, whatever your class is. But the FMV’s follow Aidan down Tristram’s labyrinth up until you slay Diablo but Aidan claims the soul stone to be the Dark Wanderer for D2.
- Completely redone magic and abilities. Heroes can use skill points to boost their unique powers. Magic is no longer uniform across any hero and found using tomes.
- Completely redone equipment. All new magic, rare, and unique equipment
- New bosses and quests found in the labyrinth
- Much larger areas to explore including many more sub-areas per floor in the labyrinth and the ability to warp to any floor from the Deckard starting point
- All the quality of life improvements as mentioned above in Remaster Wish List
