Ppl will vote with their money, I think this will be dissaster, majority of players are the casuals which will die at start of normal, they will uninstall so no money for Miscrosoft.
Other than that masterworking, tempering and sanc. are trash now. It sounded badly at campfire and its really bad in game. So those devs lack any kind of common sense and the game is doomed.
Or maybe they will go; “finally the game dares to challenge me, maybe I wont quite at lvl 5 this time because I fell asleep at the keyboard”. You never know.
Games that dare to challenge the players are quite popular these days.
It’s D4,eventually you just delete everything I don’t think that will change.I’ll skip this one.but more then likely for most people it will be a short season.
They need real content not just copy paste,maybe the expansion who can say.
They are adding an extra affix to items. That is not removing the itemization puzzle.
Because it is way better content than basically all other activities in the game.
Hand-crafted larger dungeons (still with plenty of randomness in them though) should be the way forward for D4 content imo.
But don’t you feel sorry for the people who will now need to actually put some thought into what they are doing. Instead of just blasting through everything with no effort?
Sanctifying your item has the chance to:
Replace an existing Affix with a random Sanctification affix (replace this one with an angelic aura that increase our toughness)
Make your item indestructible, preventing it from losing durability (replace this one with an angelic aura that increases our attack power)
If you don’t understand how this is extremely detrimental to the game, I can try to explain it to you, but this goes right to your credibility at large.
Okay. The game really requires you to have ideally 1000 armor and 75% resist, while stacking as much offensive stats as possible, using gear, paragon, and skills. This is the itemization puzzle. It’s one of the most interesting pieces of the game. It stops you from from endlessly seeking 1% upgrades ad infinitum.
You know why Season 10 was so popular? because you could put the “puzzle” together, via chaos pieces, in different orders, so long as the puzzle was complete.
The itemization puzzle is dead. Now you just stack resists and/or armor ad infinitum. This is catastrophic for the game. We are back to 1% upgrades. People WILL burn out.

Except it is like 100% upgrades of course, since the scaling and balancing is broken.
Your puzzle is “cap defense” and then stack offense as much as possible. It literally is what you wrote.
How can you even call that a puzzle. It is as dumb as A-RPG itemization can possibly get.
I am not against having caps on defense, heck, I kinda prefer capped resistances. But there has to be more moving parts.
It is great if Blizzard manage to bring back healing affixes.

I agree the puzzle is maybe too shallow. You really only have to maintain armor, resists, and maybe some main stat. In my case, It wasn’t really worth it to stack Wisdom and Dexterity to maintain paragon nodes. They really weren’t that powerful. That probably should have been addressed. Maybe they need to be more compelling. In fact, I am pretty sure they WILL be in X2. I find it unlikely they will stay multipliers.
Anyway, if people want to just blast, fine and dandy, but the game will stagnant very quickly. And maybe Blizzard is okay with that.
The game is in no way, shape or form complete, but at least there’s no “mask” that makes it totally unfair (i.e. too easy to some and impossible to others)
This mistake was done in S2, let’s hope this time there’s at least somewhat of a different approach
Most of the changes are for the worse. In every way these changes destroys the game. We have a great armor/resistance system now much like D2. Going into the D3 system is very bad. The new temper masterwork changes that they want to make is an insult to the games development during the seasons. The season powers are very boring and does nothing. The santification is a brick machine proven by tester over and over.
This I somewhat agree with. I really do not like the D3 system, albeit this also sounds somewhat different, due to the ratings having diminishing returns. You wont reach the same absurd dmg reductions here. Hopefully.
But the old system also didnt work well. Defense needs to be more important overall.
The defense change sure is one of the weakest, and potentially most problematic, changes in the patch.
In what way?
Both new systems seem better balanced. They are boring. But balance is the bigger issue for the game currently.
They should stop making Season powers in the first place. Including Sanctification.
Add to the base game. Dont waste time on temporary gimmicks.
