ℹ Dev Update IggiNotes Jan 16

yep, after S7 they will definitely need to add more maps, maybe a new expansion but new maps in the core game will be better, especially considering price of expansions are not well perceived.

NGL - that presentation was drier than an overcooked pork chop… no enthusiasm, felt like I was sitting in a board room listening/watching someone give a power point presentation.

It didn’t help, that a lot of the stuff they showed, we’d already seen, so there were no “wow” or even “cool” moments. The bird looks ok, except it looks like more a fat pigeon than a raven.

Having said that though… I’ll be there when the S7 launches.

And I hear and appreciate every word of that. I’m just sayin’, they could put this seasonal team on actual permanent content and improvements instead for a bit to bolster their reputation. Obviously, they won’t do that though, given the monetization model of $25 skins, etc. :joy:

Their comments over the past couple months of “we’re liking how things are looking, just kinda balancing now, blah blah” sound wayyy too much like winddown, and that’s no bueno given how much more people want out of the game. Makes me worry that they’re gonna phone it in and just accept the game being Diablo 3.5 instead of really living up to anything greater. If we get a second expansion that has like one half-baked feature addition, I’ll know that it’s time to seriously consider divesting, which sucks to consider. :v:

It sounds like sorc is absolutely dead this season but I’d like to be wrong. I don’t know how this class has been allowed to flounder like this for so long. We want it to be possible to do ranged, mono element builds. Instead every season every top build has been multi element that plays in melee range.

I’ve heard more emotion out of Ben Stein asking for Ferris Bueller than I did from these guys while exclaiming in monotone dead voice how excited they were.

I mean enjoy season of the re-skin I suppose. S2 was indeed their most fun, but the fact they just jumbled together rehashed mechanics while adding absolutely ZERO new end-game is absolutely baffling given their current competition.

Cool power point presentation though!

Sadly regardless of which way they go at this point people are going to be disappointed. Let’s say they take the time to work on new content, as we’ve seen that takes them away making seasonal content. Unless it’s something smaller they can add into the game like the armory.

So first thing people will complain about is the fact there’s no new seasonal gimmick, and secondly they’ll complain the new content is too shallow, which it probably will be. This is just how the D4 community works.

Now if instead, they prolong a season or postpone one, to make current content more in depth, fix balancing, rework things, etc. the community will complain about that too. There’s currently no way for Blizzard to come out ahead regardless of what they do.

I’d personally opt for the latter, and then postpone a season to make some significant changes to the game. I don’t think we need new endgame content, I think we need to make the current endgame content better. Rework how NMD work for example. Add some variety to the Pits. Any number of things.

Unfortunately this will never happen. Oh we might see it over the long run. A year from now, two, several. However by that time, how many expansions will have come out, assuming they even plan to add more? Will they just throw it to the interns like D3?

Regardless I’ll continue to play for as long as it holds my interest and then I’ll move on.

Not for this game.

This is the only interesting thing I noticed in the writeup.
A slider is a band-aid instead of fixing the underlying issue though.

Yeah, definitely.

First when the Season start ok ty

Nice to see you guys turn out for the campfire! Regarding the game, there was one change that stood out to me so next season I want to build on that & see how far I could take it. I will say that for that particular ability, it’s probably going to be overkill on the lower difficulty tiers.

S7 is scheduled for 2025-01-21T18:00:00Z

no update on whether they gonna fix game crashing issues ??

I mean it’s a hole they dug themselves. They came out of the gate with a relatively shoddy and shallow product that needed more time to cook. They’ve been doing nothing but playing catch up since while throwing crap at the wall randomly with these piecemeal updates that are schizophrenic beyond belief.

Add something good, take it away and make it worse. Revamp this, revamp that with no rhyme or reason all while addressing zero of the core systemic design issues that have plagued the game since the start. The highest amount of effort goes to their art team and MTX/Battlepass. The lowest amount of effort goes to the game itself. There is zero excuse for it.

You can blame the fans for being annoyed no matter what, but there is reason to be. This is a triple A company that has made more than enough money off of this game to be able to give it the workforce and assets needed to improve it beyond adding “armory” which should have been there since launch and a recycled league mechanic that has taken them this long to put out. It’s crazy to defend them in any capacity honestly.

I was trying my hardest to stay awake while watching it. Had to click off the video and look at something else or move around because their Entire Presentation was Boring and non exciting.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited for season 7, I’m gonna play the Hell out of it, but man their campfire videos are boring as bleep.

Interesting to see paragon and passive buffs for sorceress, the scaling seems pretty big but not sure how it actually feels in practice. A bit bummed Fire DoT is overlooked again on that end. A bit weird that ice blade got buffed again (increasing your own attack speed too), on top of CDR, it’s gonna become the next fire bolt enchantment for a lot of builds.

Shadow clone copying also the legendary aspects is definitely a much needed buff.

i heard there is a pill for that, but ty for the summary. Without watching the stream, it seems you put more effort in the summary than bliz did in the season theme.

Until next time i guess for me, its another pass on this season.

I think you missed the point, I’m not blaming anyone but Blizzard here. I know full well why the game is in the state it is, I’ve known since before launch. For them to dig themselves out of the whole they dug, it will take considerable time. It won’t be fixed in a single seasonal patch that much I can guarantee.

Now the question is are you willing to wait that long or do you plan to move on? That’s the only thing you have to ask yourself at this point. I don’t blame people for moving on, by all means. If I found no entertainment out of the game what so ever, I would’ve left a long time ago, as I’ve done with countless other games. For now though, they have my money from purchasing the base game + the expansion, I’ll stick around until the game bores me to tears.

Yep these guys are as out of touch as ever. They didn’t want all sorcs running fire bolt enchant so now all sorcs have to run a crackling energy build for the 180% [ x ] damage bonus. Completely clueless.

Finishing up S6 with my fireball Sorc… just started pushing pits. Currently up to Pit 90 with my glyphs at 55-60.

Hoping I can get 110+… we’ll see.

That being said… Barb will be my main for S7. Rolled one the other day for testing and am loving it.

@Iggi

I hear ya! Just came back for S6 and will reevaluate at the end of S7. D4 is a helluva lot better than I remember it at launch… so I can’t really agree with all the hate people are spewing. I wasn’t here for S1-S5 so maybe I’m just spoiled. LOL
