Dev Feedback - Remove Mace from Sorc Item Loottable

Hi Devs, in S5 I have been fortunate enough to get two 3GA weapon drops! Exciting…until I realized the blemish of it being a mace and not a wand/sword.

Please either: Give us a viable overpower build where we want the inherent mace affix of overpower, OR give us 1H axe drops instead of 1H Mace, or just remove the 1H mace from our loot table so it doesn’t dilute our drops.

Loving swords dropping for sorcs and being able to use them. Starting to dislike the mace drops! Thanks for reading.

I will say that looks interesting.

Would you run the same Paragon boards as chain lighting endgame?

I have just been running the paragon boards in the build I made in the link. Haven’t changed anything else.

I’m using his non-uber build with one change, Metamorphosis aspect on the boots for a move skill/CC break. It works very well.

ETA:
Boots with multiple Evade charges will make the most of this.

Dude. The overpowered chance is still 3%. So you could have a billion over powered damage and it still wouldnt matter. The chance to get over powered damage is similar to getting an uber to drop.

This is slightly mitigated by getting that lame ammy (lord talisman), but you sacrifice a lot of damage and other abilities for using that lackluster ammy.

There’s a big reason why no over powered sorc builds appear on any tier lists.

I want maces out because it makes viable double GA weapons harder to get

Ha, my only 3GA drop ever turned out to be a mace too.

I understand, but I’m actually ok with them dropping for us. There are actual, not entirely meme-ish, applications for Overpower on Sorcs now, something I hope Blizzard will gradually expand for us in the future. Banished Lords Talisman and Blood Boiling Aspect let us proc it somewhat reliably, and this is actually an interesting build choice with Axial Conduit (or potentially with Crown of Lucion as well). Note to DarthTalon, the mana drain from Axial apparently counts toward proccing Banished Lords, so the procs are more frequent than you’d think, and since Overpower is a per cast effect rather than a per hit effect, it applies to the entire lifetime of a Chain Lightning cast and all the damage it does… I’m actually quite interested in trying it.

The moment I saw Implicit Affix changes on Weapons and that [MACES] were going to Sorc - and NOT [AXES] (DOT…hello, McFly!?) I immediately protested the absurdity of the decision.
Someone at HQ is being a troll. All there is to it. (or a frightening degree of disconnect with the game & decision dept ~ unless there’s some big OP changes incoming via VoH… we shall see).
Currently no DOT 1h for Sorc which is just silly in and of itself - but seriously: Maces? C’mon folks.

p.s. Necro Got Axes but should have also gotten Maces since they’d actually have synergy with either/both.

That build is overpowering way more than you think. I have also been clearing pits 100+ with it. To me, that certainly sounds “viable”. If you just came here to whine, just say it.

When the build can clear pit 120 in under 8 minutes, then you can say a build is viable and can compete. Talking about pit 101 is like saying you graduated kindergarten and should therefore be taken seriously. Every build out there can clear 101. So in other words, pit 101 is the lowest goal post to compare to.

As far as whining goes, asking for competitive builds and equipment that makes the overall class better is being constructive.

Anyway, when the testing comes back whereby overpower works for Pit 120+, im open for further convo

they should give us 2hand swords instead of maces, that would balance it better since staff is the dot item, so 2hand swords could be the direct dmg item.

Swords are just as bad as Maces lol.

I think you didn’t notice the fact they have a 1.1 base ATS speed, where a wand is 1.2 ATS base.

Not only are you going attack SIGNIFICANTLY slower, all your skill fpa breakpoints will chance as well. You’ll lose tremendous amounts of damage output by equipping anything else than a wand base.

I dont think significant is the right word there, but you are right that it changes AS thresholds.

Swords give a slightly higher baseline damage value, the idea behind it is good for burn builds. Havent tested any numbers yet though; i just started playing again after 2 month break.

What is the total damage of lightning spear on overpower with Banished Lords? What is it with around 30 stacks of conjuration mastery? Does anyone know for a valid point of comparison between the two routes of big numbers?

It’s unplayable. I have a few sick 3 GA swords I just can’t use.

In short terms. Grab a staff, cast Forb. Now grab a Wand and focus, cast Forb. See the difference? Thats only from a 1 base to 1.2.

Base is very important. Not only are you going to lose massive dps and quality of life straight off the bat. It snowballs and forces you into taking more ATS on gears (losing even more potential dps) and then you’ll still be in a slower fps than a wand user. I dno why you would cripple yourself like that

Ill test it out, maybe the difference is as big as you imply and i need to get gud, it just didnt strike me as such at a glance is all.

The attack speed should be an average of the two base items, yes? Focus still has 1.2 base, so with sword it should be 1.15?

I should also note that im not using winterglass so my dps doesnt see the compounded effects of attack speed as much.
