Death effects in Diablo 4 are ruining the gameplay experience. Red ghosts, flying swords, explosions and other on death mechanics are not fun or challenging. They are just frustrating.
I spend half my time running away from this crap instead of actually enjoying the combat. Enemies are already dead but I still have to stop and avoid random one shot effects.

You meet the gearcheck and didnt make a glass cannon like the OP did.

I have as much life and resistance as possible, but unfortunately, without the DLCs I don’t have access to many systems that provide additional survivability. That’s probably one of the reasons as well.

Ah…. Yeah, they did make the xpac systems part of the overall game with dmg and survivability.
It will go on sale.
Your choice not to get the expansion explains why your struggling to survive.

Honestly game offering So much defense that i dont need endurant faith to tank .they need to understand just glass Cannon doesn’t work for tank .
That and a lot of ppl copy build guides without understanding how it works or they don’t have the specific gear for it.
Your right tho, a lot of ppl just make glass cannons and expect to survive standing in bad.

While I can’t give specifics yet, this is something we’ll be addressing. We’ve heard the feedback loud and clear, and agree that dying to these things isn’t a great experience

One more time for the simps in the back.
This has always been blizzard’s goto, throw crap on the ground that you can not see and it kills you. They have no other mechanic to make game play challenging. Oh an to top that, resistances don’t do anything

Remove max life from gear. Effective health point scaling is hard to balance when every piece of gear can add health, and many players will prioritize damage over health incorrectly not understanding the major impact on survivability max health gives.
Surviving one shot mechanics comes down to having high effective health points and the majority of players are too dumb to look at their toughness and resistances and figuring out why fire damage is killing them but lightning is fine. They’d rather just solve damage.
Awesome! People have expressed how this isn’t enjoyable since D3, so I can’t wait to see what solution you guys have come up with that took 14 years! It’s gotta be something incredible being that it took a decade and a half!

Yeah, I know, but I just can’t afford it right now. My girlfriend is sick and a large part of our income is currently going toward her treatment. Unfortunately, games have to take a back seat for now, so I have to make do with what I have

Gifting Methods & Workarounds
-
Battle.net Balance: You can gift your friend digital balance or a gift card equivalent to the cost of the expansion so they can purchase it directly on their own account.
-
Steam Platform: If both you and your friend play via Steam, you can use Steam’s native gifting system to purchase and send the expansion directly, provided they own the base game on Steam.
-
Console Stores: If you are on Xbox or PlayStation, you can purchase a digital store gift card (Xbox/PSN currency) for the exact value, or use the console’s “Buy as gift” feature if supported on the specific storefront.

I’m not from the US, so we don’t have that here. But that’s okay. I really appreciate the offer. If they end up reworking those effects, that’s honestly all I need. Other than that, I’m doing just fine in the game.

Yeah it’s more like gear check and less skill check this way.
I’d prefer if monsters generally would hit harder with avoidable attacks and less unavoidable dogpoop would spawn right below me. I’d still rarely die but once I do it’s usually something silly (health doesn’t move at all for 10 hours gameplay and then boom dead).
THANK YOU for looking into this.
Really, I think the only offenders are:
- Fire Enchanted:
- Has TWO on-death effects, the blast and the wave.
- Blast is completely unneeded and does too much damage, especially when killing a pack of champions or something that gets killed off screen and you teleport/move into it without any heads up.
- Fire enchanted itself is punishing enough with the intermittent waves and waves on death.
- Sword Drop
- Turning this into a bleed would be fine, turns into a potion/attrition drain rather than a one shot without lowering impact. Fair IMO.
A lot of the effects stem from visual clarity as well. And Warlocks need purple fire, you can’t tell what’s what.
IF you need to make mobs last longer, a shield that pops up absorbing 2-3 hits every 8 seconds or so would be fair. Shields based on health don’t scale well into pits/tower.
