D4 is not dying, can we stop this false narrative

Setting aside for a second that this is not a number we have access to, if we are to assume that it actually is, do you not understand how good of a number 400k concurrent daily players is? With the exception of a few select games, most of the most-played games on Steam don’t even break 100k. 400k concurrent doesn’t mean 400k players in total have played that day. It means 400k players are playing in that moment. If we’re counting total daily player counts, it’s probably way, way above that.

Path of Exile only hits above 100k on season launches. 90% of the time, the game’s playerbase dwindles below that.

Ya’ll are so desperate to paint Diablo IV as this shell of a game with zero engagement that you can’t even do it properly.

Again, OP said 400k, not me, I believe that to be a fabricated number until I actually see blizzard come out with numbers.

Comparatively PoE is a very niche game for the genre, it’s not attracting the casual players, it’s also not trying to though. It’s meant for the min-makers, the grinders, the people who wanted to take D2 to the next level.

100k in retrospect for a rather niche game isn’t bad at all, and if the 400k is correct for a supposedly more accessible casual ARPG experience made by a AAA studio, it pretty much paints PoE in a better light over Blizzard and it’s 10m sold copies.

Kind of sad when you think about it. Again assuming the 400k is accurate, until I see a source I’m going to remain skeptical.

Fair. Still, I don’t think that’s the bad number that you’re framing it to be.

Not really. No game ever keeps all of its players post-launch. In fact, most games never keep half of its players. Most people buy a game, play it once, and then put it down with the possibility of revisiting it down the road. Only a fraction of players end up sticking around.

If we’re assuming the 400k to be right (and I’m not, even if I think it’s a good number), that would be in line with what I expect for Diablo IV.

Oh man, Blizzard could end this debate today by just being transparent with their numbers. Anyone here a Activision shareholder? Maybe someone can provide some reliable statistics instead of Singularities made up junk data

I’m an ATVI stockholder since 2019. I’ve made my target ROI but I never had intentions of riding this roller coaster stock for the long term. Just watching the trends over the last month ↓1.88% just after a launch with nothing but continuing disappointments in the immediate future my 5 year plan might be cut short, was hoping for a July 18th conclusion to the Microsoft buyout hopefully by Q4 2023.

They don’t publish numbers other than whats required by the SEC and subscriptions / users don’t fall under the purvey of the SEC but I will tell you this there is a lot of creative accounting that goes on like all corporations buy backs and what not thats why a lot of CEO/CFO’s are compensated in shares just so they can transfer them to inflate the bottom line.

They dont need to a quick google search can give u an idea of player count.

Op isnt far off with the claimed 400k

That isn’t accurate, in fact the site states that it isn’t accurate.

3,2k viewers on twitch. Oh, will you use the “viewers doesn’t matter” after posting about it a few weeks ago? Go burn in hell, demon.

It’s an estimate and I said so. Read my post again and then be quiet.

An estimate that isn’t accurate.

How can any site be even remotely accurate with absolutely no way to measure activity beyond maybe the player made armory?

Blizzard has not released any numbers on D4 as far as I know.

Based on what evidence that you can provide?

:person_shrugging:

The evidence that blizzard does not post the player count.

So you don’t have evidence.

Because the evidence of the player count isn’t posted.

Maybe the fact it is impossible to measure D4 player activity outside of a player updated armory website?

Oh so you don’t have anything to say it’s inaccurate. Come back when you get any evidence.

There is no accurate base count that’s available to the public.
