D4 is better for now

They are doing the right thing. Making small tweaks and seeing how the players respond. Other devs panic and crank on the knob. Once you open pandoras box, you can’t really put it back in. They can always tweak more. Its early access and the first week of.

First time I ran into that I threw my hands up and said “well that’s not even fair” :joy:

Then I laughed it off and finished the quest lol

Imagine getting that in a room were you need to kill all rares in trial of sekhema as a melee char…good luck.

That trial took me quite a while to finish but when I was done I felt like I had earned the ascendancy

Matter of opinion. I hate smart loot. I like getting gear I can use for alts. That’s why I prefer D2’s loot vs D4.

Thats a good a thing. Being able to 1-2 shot bosses and everything else totally destroys the dark and tense atmosphere of a game.

PoE2: Sweating while entering the cornfield… somethings moving next to me. Ahhhh… BANG BOOM BANG. THOU ARST DEAD

DIV: OLOLOLOLROFFELCOPTORZ1-shot evERYfingx!!!elf33111!!! (nothing to fear makes the atmosphere hello kitty online fluffy nice and friendly style) :see_no_evil:

The bossfights in PoE2 are fun because you cant 1-shot them. They have nice mechanics and it feels good beating them.

In D4 you enter the uber boss cave and press a button, totally bored wondering how many Eyes In The Dark you will get this time wishing to be lucky to get one of the few mythic items available.
(Imagine poor little rogue. Yippieh i hope me gets mythic x-bow. Sorry: There are no unique x-bows nor mythic ones in the game. Rogue: Okokok… i go for the mythic bow… there must be one… i mean its a bow… a BOW… sorry there are no mythic bows in the game.)

Not really, they try but i am good at kiting and stuff, they die before that is a problem mostly or i plan the attack in tight spaces, but i am no stranger to the games feel becasue i played alot of souls and a lot of top down tactical aprg shooters. so once i set my controls and warmed up and got the feel of it , trash feels tense at times, but hasn’t killed me much if at all. elites have or running into a ambush boss lol, but that i like that.

My warrior armor breaks and stuns with bonebreaker explosions and they all die in two shots, if they are strong maybe 3. I also run a crossbow, and soften with grenades roll slam bonebreaker dead. most trash is just rs bb. I added war cry for more explosion aoe, but haven’t needed to use it much yet.

I also like the Hammer armor breaker for elites or armoured monsters, soften them dodge attacks roll slam in bone break = dead Rolling slam also can be moved while mid air so its like a attack dodge, same with the monk one.

Haven’t gotten far since i am mucking around all classes atm. I have been gaming a long time though so yeeh that helps. Currently gearing for the Cemetery gates boss. 1/3 heath left and i die atm on a good run. It i had D4s potion spam it would be dead lol
I run out of flasks is why i die atm.

Suggested ones are not even the best in most cases, may work al low levels and players new to the game but they defiinately need to show everything once they start learning how gem system works

I ended up staying out of those cornfields and sending minions in, fk cornfields

corn fields are tense, my warrior though roll slam, bonebreaker dead monsters so, no threat tbh, never died in the fields. maybe the skills are over tuned idk :man_shrugging:
I will see how the more squishy classes go though. I die more in souls games if i dont play a tank class so. I imagine same here.

Agreed, it is harder, more tactical and took some souls inspiration, but one should not be fouled, it stills a loot based ARPG.

The difference is due to being new with a lot of different mechanics, the game is not solved yet like PoE and D4. However, as soon as people figure out the best builds and such the game will look much more faster and more similar with its pairs than now.

They already had to nerf skills because some builds were one hitting bosses. I saw some advanced ranger builds and gameplays that are already talking a lot about clear speed (also had to be nerfed, still very fast). I can see that soon players will again asking theirs devs to keep the pace that we have now because it is faster than people thought.

you don’t need smart loot in POE2. You can build your own unique, from a white item, blue etc…

A white item loot from a good base is highly valuable. A blue item from a good base and one or two good affixes is highly valuable. You can add affixes to be great end game uniques.

Every single drop in POE is valuable. A white item with a godly base dmg or armor has high trade value

diablo 4 adding affixes (tempering) to rare items was copied from directly from POE lol. A cheap imitation tbh

Strongly disagree with everything you said about PoE2.

But it is good to be aware it is EA, so it is not time to make some judgments + I am still in story so I could be wrong.

a) PoE2 is much much more difficult than PoE1. So it is less for casuals than ever. Yeah it is maybe less complicated. But players who weren´t able to dive in PoE1 won´t be able to beat first act 1 in PoE 2 and just move out.

b) Skills are limited.

  1. you need to upgrade your dmg skills to max lvl you can. This upgrade is locked by stats, and stats are limited. You have to choose int/str/dex tree and go with it. You won´t have stats to mix it.
  2. Most skills are also locked by weapon, you can´t use all weapons at same time + 1)
  3. There are things called ascendancies. That also more or less locked you in 1-2 skill tress.

Long story short you can´t use skills from other classes, if you want at least semi viable build (and you need that, or you will be doomed even in first act)

c) Movement and skill casting.
Movement and casting is infinitively slower than in D4. It is even at that point where I was forced to take cast on trigger something to be able to cast anything between rolls on bosses.

Their simplifed skill, passive, item and crafting mechanics is the only thing that become more casual/newbie freindly. But early game difficulty is over done. No(realy few) casual or new player will stay if there is no window for experimentation and learning organicly in game, because early game is too harsh on them. It’s going to fall where PoE is, where you need to learn before even playing the game. If GGG realy plans to open up for a wider audience early game needs to be tuned down, less punishing fights and a bit more loot.

In terms of graphic and cinematic, Blizzard is still King. For others to match Blizzard quality they will need tons of resources like Blizzard have. Also Diablo ARPG by Blizzard has its uniqueness, it is design for the masses, quick, fast, easy to understand and able to rinse and repeat without stressing too much. Hence the simplicity of the game. For it to change just to appease the few hardcore players is not required or justified.

Diablo Keep it simple, exciting and easy, players from young children and old veterans are able to get into it without much hassle

On d4 loot or rewards that there is subjective, some have it lucky some don’t

Keep playing D4 players and stay simple…cheers

If anyone is interested, Wudi just posted a video of his first end game boss attempt. At least I think it was his first.

I originally thought it was a pinnacle boss because of his livestream title, but it was not.

That is very incorrect.

You can get attributes from many sources beyond the tree, currently some of the best builds out there are in fact mixed ones.

Also, even picking from the tree you can select which attribute you are putting. Plus, most ascendancies are very generic, maybe some combinations are rarer and harder, but nevertheless you can take advantage of its node power in many unusual builds if you want.

The thing is, most people are still experimenting with the basics since the game just launched and are more strict. There are many weapons missing and therefore skills too.

Nevertheless, the statement you made is not correct.

I agree with 3/4 of these

I dont think skill choice is low at low levels. You cant give a choice between 100 skills to a new player

But the other 3 are definitely real, plus i would add that they again failed in story and narrative

Seems like they are buffing the loot in the next patch, although not by much

I am going to stop you there. GGG isnt a small indie company anymore, GGG has Tencent backing (they actually own GGG), which is one of the biggest backings you can have

Tencent backs up Blizzard also, I mean they back out everyone were there is something to win, and Blizzard is still a small indie company judging by their skill to develop games and not money milking machines
