I disagree, D4 has both better graphic and art by far.
POE may have better mobs design. But I really dislike their art direction.
But I guess this is personal preference.

Im sure they know how just fine. If they did so it wouldnt work for people that want to play odd ball stuff. It also promotes making alts. I put good stuff away all the time just because it makes me want to try that class next.
It gives far more build variety. Something D4 heavily lacks in. You are still able to build a class identity by sticking to your preconceived class identity.
if you donât add in smart loot, your drop pool will be heavily diluted. How do you think it should be compensated ? Because that is one major issue a lot of people are saying, drops are bad, as it is already. And you dilute it further without Smart Loot.
Progression would be really slow if you are unlucky with RNG, and potentially become unfun as player cannot get upgrades ?
I would love for this to be an option in both games.
D4 Smartloot on - What we have now
D4 Smartloot off - Items drop for all heroes you have access to.
POE 2 Full Smartloot on - You only get your favored weapons.
POE 2 Percentage Smartloot on - 25% drop bonus for your favored weapons.
POE 2 Smartloot off - What we have now
Again, this game is more dependent up crafting than it is on drops. You can break anything down into a craft shard and once you have 10 you create an orb. The vendors that probably nobody checks also regularly has gear that is useful and that gear changes as you level. So you buy base item, and then you craft it up.
thats what i did and made a nice early game summoner wand but it took 3 of my exalts but I got 8 left. Exalts drop way more now. I love it. Encourages using them.
So, it is entirely different than D4 in that regards ⌠the loot focus is not on drops ? but on buying from vendor and then craft it ?
So when you craft it, you add in this orb thing right ? it gives a random affix is that correct ? let me know if I am wrongâŚ
So is that affix added randomly at least smart affix (as in something your class may benefit from )? or could be ANY affixes⌠literally ANY affixes⌠?
Yeah, they need to up currency imo. I have been getting more though so maybe they stealth buffed it. More gold would help too.
Well, the game does have drops. Rare drops are actually pretty rare but you can get them. Base drops all the time it just might not be for you.
There are many currencies and I would need to make a fairly long post about it to explain it all but the basic parts of it is this⌠There is a currency you can turn a normal (white) into a blue (magic) Usually can start with just blue but if you find a good white with a implicit then hey go nuts. You can then add two modifiers to blue. They are random. If you get good ones then you can take another currency and make it yellow(rare.) Rare is what you are shooting to be wearing. Then there is currency to add modifiers to rare. I think you can have 6?
There are other currencies too that you can mess around the gear with, but thats the important stuff prolly. I dont even know all the currencies honestly. Havent drudged that deep into it. Just been playin lol.
I canât say stuff never drops because im wearing a full set of yellows and ive crafted none of it. It is starting to get dated though and I dont see them often enough to replace yet. So I been saving currency which when I started playing was rare af⌠to start crafting. I crafted like 2 pieces but nothing outstanding. I also have 2 uniques but not really better than Im wearing. Some of the stats im not interested in. Uniques are more for really specific build define type stuff.
Oh ok, cuz I was thinking if the game focuses on loot drop for your class man that be a mess, imagine how diluted the loot pool is for any class at any given time. Getting something you actually need from drop would almost seem impossible , unless they drop you whole screen of loot then, the chances might be higher.
But, ok, if you are playing it the crafting way then it would make some sense.
Another note is that there are modifiers on everything. Like even your health and mana flask has modifiers on it.
I mean Im not gonna lie, I do think there should be some more drops. Most specifically bosses and mini bosses and even rare chests. Its pretty disappointing when it just drops a few gold and some random junk. Iâve had some that dropped nothing. But the crafting in the game is good as long as they provide enough currency to do so. Its in EA so I expect a lot of tweaks.
A lot of people are saying this is Early Access and when they fully launch F2P the whole game , a more wider audience may be attempting it again given the fact, if they change up some things to better suit a wider audience of player.
I am just hearing people say this I donât know if they will. But, game doesnât go full launch in mid or end 2025 ? at least 6 more months away.
I might give it a try then if the changes would make the game a bit less souls like punishing. And more solid build guide would be out, cuz right now there is practically none, that is good anyways.
There are some part of PoE 2 that does interest me, but the core is too souls like at the moment and I really donât like Souls game. lol
I honestly think this souls like thing is overblown. People just dont know what they are doing and they are in shock. There are no guides for them yet. Do I die? Yeah I do. I just died 6 times to the last boss I did about an hour ago. I learned each time. Then I killed it and I was like HELL YEAH!!! There is no better feeling. I feel nothing when I log in D4 and just go one button a Prime Evil ladder boss.
These are not mythic raid tough bosses. People just need to learn but a lot of gamers are just used to copying some guide and hitting a button to disintegrate stuff so its a shock to them when they canât.
They could probably tone down maybe act one or at least the first few bosses and ease people in a bit better but I like it how it is otherwise. It is also possible to over level and over gear the stuff. You can run the campaign maps as much as you want.
haha maybe, I mean Iâd hope you are right. Some say souls like some say souls lite, anywaysâŚ
The point it out there and no one seems to have any objection to the fact that the souls like element is strong in this one.
I donât know if APRG should feel that way ? Maybe ARPG is starting to mean a lot of different things now⌠Souls like ? Diablo-like ?
Man I donât know⌠w/e lol I just know the current state of the game 100% is not for me . I am open minded though see how things change for the future.
If it aint for you then it aint for you. Nothing wrong with that. It is for me though. I love the challenge. Im used to that stuff though. Iâve had boss pulls that went it triple digits before weâve down it in MMOs.
Im terrible in souls games but I can do this. So, I have a hard time calling it a souls game. Maybe souls-lite I can get on board with. But honestly, as I have said in many posts⌠people are panicking and using their dodge too much. D4 also has evade. It just doesnt roll.
D4 aint for me but Iâll still play it some. At the very least anytime there is new campaign because I love blizzard campaigns. A little disappointed with VoH campaign but I loved the launch one.
Hey, legit question since you brought up dodge roll.
What do you think, or your opinion is on the fact that white mobs can block you in and currently your dodge roll cannot pass through the enemies. Most people would just fall over and die getting cornered like that. It is controversial but do you think this needs to change ?
Well I will first say that yes, I think it needs to change. I dont get cornered often because I pay attention to my positioning, but yeah, I think people should be able to pass through. I hate body block in any game.
Its a source for mats for your own loot. Getting a rare is contributing to crafting a custom rare. All loot has pretty important value via crafting.
You should be disenchanting or salvaging those for currency to craft a good piece that works for you.
