really? i mean i knew some old d2 devs were consulted for poe, i wasnt sure they actually work or worked there as devs.
i tried it a bit myself, but never really got stuck on it to be honest. I can see how poe appeals to people, and i wouldnt dare to say its bad. Im just under the impression that its totally fine to have two arpgs that differ.
wells, thats what seasons are for, next season will bring new fun stuff (hopefully )
im honestly after all still very pleased with s2. Considering it was said that the first 2 seasons were basically done before the game released, i can only imagine new good stuff coming in.
You don’t need a negative for the skill tree. That’s not how a skill tree works (though it can, it doesn’t have to and the norm is that it doesn’t). The skill tree does not tangibly reward you for anything. Unlocking an ability is not a reward. You may think it is because you get skill points after a level up, but that discounts the entire concept of playing a game. You unlock a skill tree node so you can better participate in content.
What you’re saying is irrelevant in that the goal of your system is to shorten how long you play. At every step you “progress” this system, the result is less time to play the game. Whether you get 25, 50, or 100 more of something for nothing, you’re still getting something for nothing. The fact that the something you get is a shortcut to the end of character progression is the functional problem with your system.
You didn’t even grasp the value of the PoE Ascendancy system when you just started adding these shortcuts. In PoE the system gives you enhancements to the tools you use to participate in the content of the game. You want to give out what amounts to a participation trophy.
Honestly, the fact you’re trying to imply the systems are the same is painful. You’re so far off the mark that I’m getting secondhand embarrassment for you.
Yes it does reward you. It gives you a skill to use that isn’t a basic attack. That is a reward. An exciting new skill or passive.
Is that not what this tree is doing? You unlock skill points as you level up so you can “better participate in content”? How does anything on the tree involve rewards that doesn’t require participation in the content themselves?
It can lessen play time if the player’s goal was to get some certain reward. Not all players play for the same things though. A fact you are conveniently leaving out.
This sounds like an expansion on the current system they have for Seasonal Realm characters and using the ashes it gives you from the seasonal battle pass. Technically what you’re asking for is already in the game, you just want it to have different perks.
Yeah but to make it into a tree instead and have it be a permanite addition to the endgame versus just being a seasonal perk. Essentially I would like them to go further with a preexisting system.
