1 Defence of / expand on strongholds system - Give us repeatable procedurally-generated quests(this means we get new quest line when we finish one, just like a dungeon would be generated) that we can use to find clues on where the hordes of demons will attack next and once we collect the final clue we receive a stronghold key which we use to open a map of the stronghold and defend it
- could add a progression tree which would give us resources and rewards, maybe blessings in certain situations like we get in ATLAS tree of PoE or rifts in LE
2 Angels - make them either fight with us or against us, maybe split it in 2 factions - those who want to eradicate sanctuary and those who want to defend
add demons into the mixture, a few on lilith side and give us the option to choose sides
- some will help angels, others will choose lilith and together we can defend sanctuary
- based on our choices some cities in sanctuary might end up under siege and player will have to fight to free it
3 Itemization - better than at launch, but in the past 3 season I never bothered to read what an item does
- with the 2 aforementioned systems add crafting materials as rewards for different activities thus refreshing all the content, which will allow us to craft an item from scratch (white- to legendary)
- remove uniques and uber uniques and reintroduce them in a way that we are not compelled to use them all the time and ignore 99% of the loot
- check LE introduction of primordial uniques, I can’t explain better in words than for you to check what they did
-etc itemization can be simple and fun if you work on it, atm from lvl 1 to paragon 300 items dropped in D4 do not matter unless it has 2-4 GA on them and even then only 0.0001% count the rest you don’t even bother to pick up and sell
4 Pandemonium - as we all know there is an endless fight between demons and angels there
- give us the option to participate in the fight on the side of demons or angels and based on missions. difficulty tier, quality of mob kills etc we can tip the balance of the war and thus gain buffs, rewards, etc from angels or from demons from one week to another
- add the Prime, lesser Evils and high council of the Angels this way a player can choose under whose command they fight - complex system of rewards, quests, cosmetics, SANCTUARY TREE that player can start interacting with from level 60 onwards
- this could be similar to the map system of PoE - where instead of running “maps” we complete a reputation system with each commander, angel&demons, Tyrael, imperius, baal, azmodan etc, we can fight in the name of each or against whatever fits the lore.
5 City sieges - what colour is the new helltide (joking) - influenced by the war in Pandemonium we get to have different fights in sanctuary - demons sieging/conquering cities, then angels coming to the rescue, based on the situation:
- we cannot access that city anymore if it is over run by demons and we must fight to free it
** procedurally generated quests so we can acquire keys that we use to summon city dungeons where based on time/difficulty/ mobs rarity and number of kills, we get progress in liberating the city
*** defend the city - think of act 5 of D2 where right from the get-go, we would be on the front line - or D3 act 3 when Azmodan laid siege on Stonefront
****again rewards, crafting materials based on the itemization changes(what you currently have is not itemization, it is stats collection, progress tree maybe,
***** INTER-SEASONAL content based on the activity of the players - if demons win well next season start might be a rough one, stronger demons popping up at random times messing with us, especially on hardcore, if angels win in pandemonium then we might get and angel to appear from time to time, saving us from death, hitting a boss for 50% hp you get the drift
6 Infernal labyrinth (I so wish this would be done in infernal hordes remake) - we gather resources around sanctuary and then we DELVE (yes that one) into the hell labyrinth
- we spend resources to move deeper into the labyrinth
** based on depth and difficulty we get rewards
*** some chambers might have Prime evils, or Angels as prisoners which we can rescue
**** MAIN goal is to find Diablo - whatever fits the lore, I’m thinking he is in the labyrinth gathering forces
***** if you upgrade the itemization system to be meaningful and craftable then the rewards are as stated previously + new stuff
7 Invasion - pretty basic - search for clues to see where Diablo will invade Sanctuary
- we get a chance to kill Diablo’s lieutenants to find those clues which we bind together in a ledger - images, short stories, item skins
- on top of it we can create our own demon - we can use consumable demon parts to summon and fight a stitched together demon
- and obviously once we kill a certain number of lieutenants and different ones we can go ahead and hunt down and fight Diablo himself
8 Tree of memories - besides everything else stated above in this season we find fragments of the past (maybe even the future - this was never done in the history of ARPGs that I know of)
- based on regions and content we will find fragments of the past/future
- these fragments could be used to summon past memory dungeons - think of fall of tristam, or death of Deckard Cain, first appearance of Diablo
- glimpses of the future - D5 will happen, seasons are planned in advance so why not create future memory dungeons
- fun and nostalgic way of replaying the game, or getting small possible spoilers, since future is not 100% until it happens…
- all these memories will be saved and added to the tree of whispers where we can revisit them or have them as permanent memory dungeons, an enhanced deterministic tree boxes if you will
These are just a few ideas I just wrote in an hour or so.
Each number is a season theme suggestion.
I could expand them way more, but that isn’t the purpose of this post.
This summarizes what I mean by END-Game content, and think the vast majority of this community would agree.
Time to make Diablo 4 the king of ARPGs.
PS. I’m open for hiring.
