Hey Blizzard team,
I want to share a suggestion regarding Diablo 4—specifically about adding an Auction House to the game. Before anyone jumps to conclusions, hear me out.
We all know that the Auction House in Diablo 3 didn’t work out, but I believe the failure wasn’t because of the AH itself. The real problem was with the itemization and gear system at the time. In Diablo 4, with its new and improved systems, I think an AH could actually enhance the gameplay experience and bring back that excitement of grinding and trading.
Now, to avoid repeating the mistakes of D3, it’s crucial not to make every item tradable in the AH. A lot of modern online games have AHs where only certain items can be traded. Diablo 4 could follow a similar approach. For example, crafting materials or uber uniqur items could remain untradeable, while gear and other less impactful items could be bought and sold freely. This way, we’d still be incentivized to grind for the best stuff, but we’d also have a market where we can trade and strategize to get the gear we need.
The AH could bring a whole new layer of strategy and community interaction to the game, without undermining the core grinding and loot-hunting experience that we all love in Diablo.
Just something to consider—looking forward to seeing how D4 evolves!

Please refer to the several statements made about the Auction House by the developers ranging from the beginning of the game to more recent interviews. If you are still confused, you may try contacting your congressman if you live in the states, or any political figure if you live in another country. We thank you for your time.

Need to think what is the core objectives of an AH. Players farming vs players buying items - if i got gold, why farm for gear when I can just buy them?
Does blizzard profit from adding this from a company’s stand point? They aren’t gona add a system feature which might impact the longevity of a players activities in-game - farming better gears, materials and boss runs etc.
In D3, they screwed up by adding RMT. As we speak, gold are being bought or sold externally. Nothing can stop this. By adding AH will just dilute the players more.
There are already so many RMT’s and third party websites that you can buy/sell tradeable items. Blizzard does not profit nor gave consent for these websites btw.

why is it that it’s so hard to find out information about the site that they(blizz) are supposedly endorsing for trade on a discord? everything seems so mysterious and odd. in the past, blizz themselves warned against these types of sites.
“We are returning to a D2 darker atmosphere, less like D3 etc”
“we see things in chat about copying D3, yes obviously if something is successful etc”
“We have a very specific vision in mind for the game”
“It’s not our game anymore”-
“Seasons we want to see and are ok with borowed powers breaking the game”
“We are getting away from borrowed powers in seasons”

Must be a new botter, Still has not learned the ropes yet.
Yes, lets bring in an AH so a heap of people will buy the game just to bot 24/7 just as an easy way to make cash
Yes, let’s go the Chicken Little route. I’d love the RMAH to come back it’d mean I may get more than a couple days playtime out of a season. Made like $2500 off of D3’s.
Every topic I see I say something similar, I’m gonna be less tactful this time. BS. It’s all elitist “I found this myself look at me” special snowflake syndrome.
Most people only play for a couple of weeks at most a season and there’s not a competitive element that the masses are patricipating in that warrants the community being SOO woried about an in game trading system. Those that really want to trade are still going to do so externally.
I can only speculate, but that will/is/has happened with or without an in game AH. I’m going to go as far as say, that if Blizz isn’t funding the currently endorsed trade site directly, and they(blizz) create an in game AH for players to use, the trade site that is currently being used will be (and probably already is) used for RMT.
