Considered S8 starting HC

Lately when I’m bored or feel like I conquer Diablo IV, usually during Mother’s Blessing, I’ve done this a few times now I make a hardcore character. My current hardcore character just got to Torment 1.

For Season 8 I’m considering starting as Hardcore this time around. Complete with rerolling after death and the whole shabang. I’m slightly worried about Bossing being season eight’s main theme.

Is it true that the bosses won’t have the three strikes and you’re out Debuff anymore? So, they will have boosted damage, and is it true then, I should be able to eventually out-gear a bosses damage right?

I just feel like I need to know the death debuff is gone for example running Andariel for the first time in a season can usually mean death from the three strikes and you’re out Debuff. Which I believe they removed in season eight.

Basically I just want to complete the season journey and battle pass on Hardcore. To give you an idea of how much I play, in season seven I reached Paragon 300 on softcore. And just got into Torment 1 on Hardcore during Mother’s Blessing. Which is my second time making it to level 60 on a Hardcore Character.

I just want a challenge do you think I’ll have fun?

I think HC will suffer as some of the best Boss powers come from the Bosses that HC players fight at their own risk (if ever) like Lilith and Andriel.

Personally, judging by my own experience in the PTR, I’m really tempted to just skip S8. entirely. I think whether I do or not will depend on what’s in the season journey and if that makes the increasingly boring grind worth doing again.
Leveled 3 HC (270) and 3 SC (276 … 300 last season)characters this season so that’s how much I hate the direction season 8 seems to be taking.

long time HC player here. s8 is going to be brutal but probably a rush.

I played only HC during the PTR… it’s definitely a rush…

Once you get the boss powers you want and start leveling them up it’s crazy fun. I was running a Hydra Sorceress in Torment 4 quite easily. But that was with p300 and level 100 glyphs. But I’m fairly sure I’ll be able to do that with “only” p220-p250 and maybe rank 60 or 70 glyphs. The burning damage boss power on ultimate cast is quite potent.

i hope they just drop glyphs down to 75 max level.

Speaking of glyphs. Let’s say I make an RGK single target DPS just to take down a boss for the boss power in Season Eight. 1. Would I get the power on my main like the witch powers in season seven? And 2. Ooof leveling glyphs past 45 is so many gem fragments just to make a YOLO boss killer.

And yeah, 75 glyph cap could be okay. If they don’t expect everyone to get to pit 100. FYI I believe at Pit 99 you’ll get a 30% chance to upgrade to 100 which isn’t that bad if you farm for a couple hours from glyph level 85-100

That being said I kind of just want to chill at Torment one or two haha.

I watched Wudijo push to Pit 150 with a Blood Wave Hardcore Necromancer and, he basically did like Pit 45 for a couple hours , then moved into the 50s for a couple hours, And so on, making small increment. Each 5-10 levels was a couple hours. Until he finally beat the 150, and the boss took a long time like 5 minutes IIRC. He was also actively dodging the shadow adds. (Y’know like Lilith)

And I am 99% certain in Season Eight the Tormented Bosses won’t have the insta kill one shot mechanics, and to counter that change they will do increased damage with all other attacks. Forewarning - anecdotal from s7 is this. Duriel has a hard hitting frontal cone immediately after spawning. I recommend blood mist when he spawns. Although that’s risky because it will then be on Cooldown.

I hear ya. This boss season is a big gamble but a big win if we get awesome fights.

S8 will be a season where I start in SC first . It is going to be that hard (at least as of PTR and before S8 patch notes).

I am still waiting for patch notes. Let’s see.

Almost a month later now and I wanted to check in, with Season Eight a couple weeks away. I’m more than likely sticking to my guns and starting Hardcore.

Right now my Internet is getting maintenance in my back yard, but I’m about to go farm up renown on Hardcore.

I’m one foot in the grave :headstone:.
