It benefits the egos of vane e-warriors who get bored too quickly of their cookie cutter s++ build. I guarantee you, few players using a medium build and abstaining from cheaty practices like trade or boss rotations would like to have the game made more of a slog. Its literally copies of I R Baboon from that old CN show with the weasel, waving around their red arses and beating their chests clamouring for attention.
You need to go to the jeweler and use the rune crafting function. Unless you are going to equip it or are saving it for a recipe, there is no reason whatsoever to hold onto blue and yellow runes. If youâre sitting on stacks of 20-30 youâll probably get several legendaries. Just watch the crafting outcome in the upper left so you can mark any results you want to keep. Just keep crafting until you run out.
I dont need runes anymore, because i got all Mythics what i wanted in S7. I think, i ran over 1000+ different Uberbosses, and still have many boss materials. I can trade my boss materials for gold, and i not only lazy, but greedy also, i want use all my boss mats for myself lol 
I do find that the grind to get the new gems is EXTREMELY Long⌠like way longer than it needs to be.
They reduced the drop rate of the runes and itâs sad because Iâve grinned a lot and have only found 1 ohm . While last season I had found at least 4 for the same amount of time that Iâve spend grinding.
The grind this season feels pretty painful. I do have say though, I got extremely lucky that Varden dropped 3 mystics for me on torment 3 in my first 20 tryâs. I donât think Iâll ever see that again.

I was just saying that compared to previous season Legendary Runes are significantly more difficult to get. I understand that they are not dropping so easily from Bosses. It makes sense, we have Undercity to farm them. Didnât need that last season but give it a try today. Made 50 runs with Harmony Tribute, 200 Runes, 2 Legendaries. Maybe I was especially unlucky but considering that they are 16 Legendary Runes in total, what are the chance to get the one I want? What the chances to get 6 identical to craft a Mythic?
Kept a couple Rare and Magic and with all the rest managed to craft 4 or 5 Legendaries at the Jeweler. I wonât be crafting any Mythic this season with Runes. I am not worried. I will get them from the Bosses.
Trade channel is very active with Runes. I guess this is exactly what Blizzard wanted when they designed them.
The entire change to specific crafting of mythics from 4 sparks to 2 sparks and runes was a completely obvious money grab tied to VoH.
