Catch up on our latest Campfire Chat, where we revealed details about the upcoming 2.3.0 PTR.
Based on campfire, season doesn’t sound promising. And battle pass will continue to be a poor value for season 9 per campfire. Give them credit for honesty there.
My first impression… not really impressed. The poison Werebear feels like a miss—Werebear players want to crush everything like a raging Grizzly (hence Grizzly Rage), not slither around like a poison snake. At the very least, it should use fire or physical damage, not poison or lightning.
The Horadrim spheres seem way too slow. We like playing fast, clearing everything in seconds—not waiting for spheres or companions to catch up.
Astaroth is a nice surprise, though.
Massive Basic skills buff is good too.
Improving loot quality with tier is great too.
Nothing new about the Pit, so I guess it’s back to the same old Pit farming.
Overall, not too hyped, but maybe it’ll turn out more interesting than I expected. We’ll see.

Spell system
Build your own spell system looks absolutely amazing, love it. If this system delivers on its promise then it will be an essential piece to reinvent the skill tree (Skill Tree Reborn) and take it to the next level. Note for the Skill Tree Reborn it's really important to retain the soul of each skill and its class when adding customizability.Nightmare Dungeon improvements
The Strongroom addition is pretty cool. The Nightmare Dungeon changes are definitely a step in the right direction but look underwhelming. One of the cool things about the spell system is that you can build your own spell and you have all these crazy combinations. Why not come up with a similar system for Nightmare Dungeons where you can build your own crazy Nightmare Dungeon combination? You could have a Nightmare Dungeon with Blood Blisters spawning Butchers which spawn random Goblins on death that have a chance to spawn a Portal to a Strongroom and when you enter one the difficulty of the Nightmare Dungeon goes up one Tier and the GA potential increases as well.Other
- The Astaroth addition is great.
- Overpower and class changes look ok. Looking forward to the PTR feedback on these.
- The Deathmask of Nirmitruq (Near my truck?!) is a pretty cool but possibly hardcore fatal idea.
- Really concerned the new uniques are added to an already pretty loaded loot pool. Makes significant improvements to target farming outside of Boss fights essential. Also consider reducing the number of uniques by moving two or three related unique powers to one unique item and then do some rebalancing on it.
Suggestions
- Tempering: for 2GA you can chose one exact tempering sub option instead of rolling it and you only need to roll the range for that one, for 3GA and 4GA you can chose two exact tempering sub options instead of rolling it.
- Pets automatically level up when they adventure with you and when reaching max level, for example level 10, they teleport around and almost instantly grab any loot that appears, no matter how fast you go.
Good changes overall. Will definetly test them. A lot of Sorc Stuff fixed with changes to Enlightment. So class is overall much much weaker.
However you said you wanted not give to much power in a single slot. Hydra Amu is like a 15x multi really really huge. And it fixes the issue of lacking AoE. Hydra is in beast mode.
Still feels like you missed adding Raven Trees to Helltides and adding more Whispers to the Helltide f.e. to Hellspire or to Kixxarth, etc. And you said more updates to general aspects, but not so much happend. And I see S9 Powers is a field test for an update to our merchants with the expansion.
But as a whole you are now on the right track. With Diablo IV permanent changes with seasons building up to an hopefully amazing second expansion.
Why do these people never buff bad builds just always nerf the good ones always
Considering that first non-enligthement build for sorc is like d-tier im realy curious how they plan to balance that.
Can we stop focusing on recycled seasonal content that gets thrown out? Work on adding variety to the base skill trees and actual content for seasons. These seasonal powers are getting stale.
I know it wasn’t part of this chat and only briefly mentioned as part of the Q&A but as long as Reliquaries are in the game, Diablo 4 will not get another cent of my money. I may continue to play, but no longer buying into the cosmetics or anything with this cash grab of an excuse of an “alternative battlepass.”
What did they change with enlightenment?
They keep riding the train that they “added some items based on S2 powers” but like, wtf have they done to reintroduce seasonal concepts into the main game since? Every time people ask they use that one specific instance as an excuse and say “not now, maybe next time”.
Overpower nerf too much - blizz, juts look at how many players are using builds that crush the content! That shows you how the majority of players want to play the game - so stop trying to destroy that!
It was such a hit the first time around!
