Casual players are not going to like the new format

The problem they are presenting to players seems pretty easy to solve from what I can see. You just need to incorporate some defensive stats into your build and maybe a defensive affix or two. I don’t understand why these changes are being framed as something that no one can figure out. I only play for maybe a few hours per week and I don’t see this as being a problem.

Im not a casual player and even i don’t like the new format. I can spend up to 16 hours a day on playing due to being unemployed and i have spent between 12-16 hours a day on most given days on D4 seasonal content. I am not looking forward to the new stuff making it into the live servers… S11 is probably going to be the first season since release that i’m gonna skip.

The current masterworking system is not amazing. But its still better than this new monstrosity they have in the PTR.

The levelling experience that i have experienced was :poop:. But then i saw a video by Raxxanterax and that actually made it seem reasonable. But the whole removing of renown and paragons and hiding them behind unlockable seasonal content… Nuh-uh! :worried:

The re-introduction of capstone dungeons: BAD IDEA!
They are too long and tedious to do and the time taken to complete them vs the reward in levelling exp is just not worth it.

Also i like that monsters are more deadly, but at least make them more deadly on torment difficulties. Don’t mess with Normal to Penitent.

I died 7 times pre-level 15 on NORMAL with minion necromancer… that is not normal!!! Thats nuts!

Me either. But then again as a casual I’m probably, what’s the new term “cooked”?.

The last time they did this the sky was falling, this time the sky is falling.

I’m like you….skys right where it needs to be. People get their proverbial (maybe real) panties in a twist, when they should just wait and play.

The sky is always falling every season. Every PTR I always see a bunch of “I’m done with D4 if they change anything” threads from people who still play every season. A part of me thinks that this is just how some people communicate their feedback by being hyperbolic about everything.

Oh you will not. You can’t say, “I play Diablo 12 hours a day” and then say “I’m going to skip S11.” You’re addicted. You’re going to play 12 hours a day in S11.

Dang… this is going to suck. Whole reason I love this game is it’s a perfect middle age game. I don’t need a second job.

Even with these changes it will seemingly still be a relatively short experience. Blizzard would need to make significantly larger changes to get away from that.

The biggest thing here is wait and see.

D4 would be hard pressed to chase off everyone except those who can devote main job and over time hours to it.

No doubt it will take longer. Seasons still 2-3 months long. We will be fine.

Casual players will not do 10 hours a day that’s why they are casual in the first place they have a life outside of the game.

All I’m going to say is that Blizzard needs to explain the changes IN GAME. Captain Casual is going to log in, see they only have one skill point and the map is blacked out and say, “I have to unlock everything again? Screw that.”. And log off.

If they find out that they won’t see legendary gear for 40+ levels and masterworking requires heavy grinding for materials, they’ll uninstall.

I guess I’m saying Blizzard needs to sell this to the casual crowd. The hardcore like us will play regardless. The casual players need to be sold on this, or we’re back to season one player drop off again.

This I agree with. Blizzard are quite bad at telling things in-game, across their games. They seem to believe everyone live on twitter, watched the latest dev interview or whatever.

So the whole focus of this season is to remove power from you and the seasonal perks. This is what many wanted so Blizzard moved it to defensives only.

Btw I don’t care either way. The whole community mostly wanted the broken SB build to stay when VoH released and most like that amount of crazy power. Dialing it down is fine though but why they had to revert the defensive stats is weird to me.

So if you ever at all wanted a version of the game where they greatly trim down power and there’s no seasonal omega powers than this is your season! And the elites and lesser evils for me at least are a noticeable step up in difficulty but nowhere near impossible or anything like that.

It’s going to be another season where everyone plays the META build.

Well, not entirely! One small village of indomitable Gauls still holds out against the invaders using their own builds …” :see_no_evil_monkey:

This is horse :poop:

The casual isn’t going to have the problems you think. Probably going to do better than you to be honest.

If they haven’t read the changes, they going to ask or research and find out. It’s not like it’s a big secret. Secondly the idea that they will quit because they don’t get legendary gear for 40 levels is nonsense. Most if they rage quit will be back the next day. Most probably won’t give 2 :poop: about it.

After all we are casuals…. We play, we have fun. We poke fun at you no lifers just like you do us casuals. Guess we won’t get to point be in 3 days. But it’s not going to take too much longer anyway.

The sky is falling my friend. But don’t worry us casuals can tell you how many clouds and the colors, because we have time due to not making mountains out of mole hills.

My experience in the PTR so far:

Got my first legendaries around 26+, they were just more rare. Which obviously makes the process slower due to not having aspects, but I typically spend the time to do the dungeons that have aspects I can use first.

The leveling will definitely be slower though until you get up and going. By roughly level 30 I switched to Expert difficulty and while it was challenging, I did just fine. I changed my leveling build off of what I could find aspect wise.

So in that sense it felt more like a ‘use what you find’ rather than ‘I can lulz my way to 60’. Some people won’t like this of course.

Same same! I feel you!

I agree with your original post assessment about the expectations of a casual entering S11, which is several steps back on what we had/are having in S10.

Well, it is what is. This Devs team has no philosophy or direction, they are floating and making changes based on other games are doing, that behavior is pretty frustrating. D4 should be leading the train and not following like a moph to every fire they see.

I chuckled at this. No true casual I play with would ever read notes or watch explainer vids.

They just ask me “so what do I need to know”?

  • To be fair, you did say theyd ‘ask’. But they aint going to do research.
  • and I’ve also been told ‘I didnt know what to do with that so I ignored it’. ( that was literally PARAGON GLYPHS ). Trust me: casuals are doing no research

My wife does the same exact thing. She never visits these forums, doesn’t care to read the patch notes. ‘Just tell me what I need to know and how they changed my class’

(hmmm, do either Asterix or Obelix have an undeclared interest in the crypto-obol market? Serious minds wanna know, especially those in Rome)
