Can't even log in Diablo 4 stuck on "logging in to diablo"

I can’t get past the “logging in to diablo” screen with the red light going around in a circle. The red light just freezes and i sometimes here background music. I have tried using the scan and repair, ive updated my video card drivers, ive tried a different IP//DNS nothing works. it was doing this in season 5 too it was frozen on loading but after a minute the menu would come up and i could play. Now it just freezes there for a long time and the game just crashes before i can even get to character select/create screen.

Is there any fix for this?

I had exactly the same problem. Try reinstalling the whole game - worked like charm for me.

I was having this exact issue starting last night. Reboot/repair didn’t fix it. Reinstall did fix it…its unfortunate that I had to take that route…137gb redownload, but at least it allowed me back in

Go to your Diablo 4 folder and rename dstorage.dll to dstorage.dllbak

This fixed it for me.

I’m having the same issue. I found that after uninstalling and re-installing helped. But, after each launch, I need to delete the “localprefs” file in users\documents directory otherwise it will not fully connect. I have an open ticket for this, but I don’t have much optimism that support will be helpful.

Thanks! That worked great!

While removing that DLL does work well – the game loads great. However, I have to do this each time I relaunch --even from a graceful save and exit. So, this is definitely something Blizz needs to address.

Didn’t work. I got past the downloading data screen but then it times out and kicked me back to the Battle Net screen. Do I have to do anything else after renaming the dstorage file?

I clean reinstalled the game and it kept freezing and crashing. On the 5th try the game finally loaded but after i closed it and tried again it kept freezing and crashing. so i guess i have to spend 20-25 minutes praying it will work with each attempt lmao

Nope that is the only thing I had to do. It hasn’t happened to me again since. Sorry it wasn’t able to solve your problem.

Try to set in ***\Documents\Diablo IV\LocalPrefs.txt

DisableChromaEffects “1”
