Can't do some event as Necro Pet build

I love my pet necro, but seems to be missing something or just weak in some areas. The Goddess snake event. I can’t seem to kill mods in her ring fast enough before she moves again and time runs out. Same for the soul events where I need to kill the mods that are carrying a part of an NPC soul. All my pets are all over the place. This also leads to the problem with any event where I need to focus on a single target when their are other mods around. Corpse vines can only do so much. Any tips to getting minions to attack where I need them too?

Sadly, its best to go Hybrid Bone Spear/Minion, even though the Minions will be mascots at that point. Or, play the strongest/Meta Necro build, Bone Spear, and get to higher levels before they Nerf it. They are 100% nerfing that build. If you choose the Meta Bone Spear, you’ll have to sacrifice your Minions, even though you enjoy them, but the question is do want to suffer and be frustrated with how Minions are trying to progress, or quickly get the endgame and build? Or just leave the game, like others have, because their gameplay is unenjoyable. Or, change classes.

I suggest saving the strongest Minion Aspect/stats and Gold so that when, and I mean “when”, they fix Minions you’ll have the pieces ready. That is if you’re going for the Meta. If you keep changing your builds, the gold increases, so they Devs are TRYING to lock you into one playstyle.

As for getting Minions to attack where they need too, that it something the Devs failed to implement. If you haven’t played Necromancer Minions in D3, I suggest you try it out or look online at how they went from that to this crap. We even had a command ability and the Minions were aggressive with Aggro, plus they didn’t die, with the set bonuses. You’ll be very upset if you see D3 Minionmancer compared to D4s’. I already uninstalled the game, and thinking about installing and just going Bone Spear to get to endgame.

I loved my Necro in D3. I like most Pet Necro’s in other games. Grim Dawn and Path of Exile had the attack command. Yea, I agree the dev dropped the ball here. In short I will have to wait and see what happens. Off to level a rogue like everyone else…lol. Necro is 65. So, taking a break.

aspect of the void to group enemies using blight. Cast ce and using reapers + iron golem. acolyte decompose on whatever enemy the majority of my minions decide they feel like attacking… it still takes time to cut through a lot but it’s the purest minion build I’ve found that doesn’t use curses and still clears content ahead of timers. it’s the aspect of the void tho that you really need if you want to focus your minions.

even ignoring the minuscule damage minions do not being able to focus fire is a big problem.

every timed event where some damage reduction aura guy or suppressor spawns often ends in failure if you don’t do a ton of damage yourself which doesn’t make you much of a minion build

pray?

we have no real minion control.

if ur in an outdoor event u can mount up and dismount right away to recall ur minions to you (not best but it works)

apart from that minion build is best built aroudn shadowblight.

probably not.

Necro bone spear can deal dmg but its a hyper investment and there are clear downsides to it.
you can skip aroudn in video to see how strong minion build can actually get. (its bit weaker than spear but way more tankier)

becasue minion builds don’t rely on the minions actual dmg themself.

Shadowblight key talent is the actual dmg from a minion build. and it does LOTS of dmg.

I started minion until WT3. (as I lacked gear for it…which funnily enoguh now I cant get spear gear yet keep getting minion gear but too costly to swap now x_x)

it was rough but it does get better.

also i’d argue minion builds are better than spear builds for those events where you need keep spread out ppl alive.

Use an attack spell on the area you want them to attack. They kind of prioritize your target. sorta… a little bit

Its not great, and its not reliable.

My strategy is to just cover the screen in dots with corpse explosion. So no matter where they attack theyre getting the benefits of helping CE kill things.

It does feel like when i tag a target with.l blight, they kinda prioritize that target.

That might be something to try. Just have to turn it right for the mount cooldown.

I have invested +damage +HP for minions on gear. I would hate to start over.
The golem AI is a little off. I will send the golem to attack a mob. The mob will move, but the golem will attack the spot where it was OR just run in a circle around the target.

Yup, necro minions lacking any control along with only inheriting 30% of certain super important stats is apart of an archaic ‘pet’ class design that somehow wormed its way into D4.

The more I think about it the more annoyed I get. I have bone spear to vuln everything and it actually does pretty good damage, along with my golem’s attack being targeted…but compared to every other class/spec, the ability to control where your damage goes is nowhere close.
