Can you add a reset for tempering?

I have not gotten a single 3ga item suitable for my build and I have 150 hours and one of the fastest farming rates in the game.

Drop rates don’t work with this tempering system.

Either buff droprate of high ga items ten fold or make tempering reset like masterwork. Current drop rates require auction trading to gear up. Non existent in the game.

well yeah, you are right. But there are some strange things with this game - you literally don’t need 3Ga perfect gear at all. That’s also the problem. How you can fix tempering problem, if we consider this as a problem(cuz for me tempering is pretty much fine) - i don’t know.
in fact, the main problem of tempering is the unjustified expectations of people who get 3ga gear and think that they have already received bis, but this is not the case. This problem was created by blizzard itself, loot filter would solve all of this w/o adding this mechanism of “broken hopes” but for some reasons they decided to not implement it.
Sometimes it’s better to not reinvent the wheel.

yeah yeah i know, i spent too around 200h this season or even more, but only got 3Ga weapons with right stats, which were destroyed later by tempering.

There is 2 problems with 3Ga items:

1st) - you don’t need 3Ga item in any content of the game
2nd) this subjective cuz i’m not a dev but it seems to me that they can’t just increase 3Ga items drop rates, it will affect any droprates in the game.
tempering reset will mean that we have only 3 affixes.
So honestly i don’t know how to solve this problem, that’s why i don’t rly care about bricking items with tempering.

There is an easy fix for this which is when you temper an affix class it generates all affixes in that class. i.e; defensive, offensive, utility, resource, etc.

For example on sorc, if you select Frost under Offensive it will generate all 4 in a list and you select one;

+13% Chance for Frost Bolt projectiles to cast twice
+15.5% Chance for Frozen Orb projectiles to cast twice
+14% Chance for Ice Shards projectiles to cast twice
+25.5% Blizzard Size

You select the one you want and you’re done. All affixes are still RNG.

You get 3 tempers, not 5.

This guarantee’s you will get exactly what you need for the build you’re running however it does also carry the risk of getting a crappy roll and thus the item is not completely useless however leaves room for you to farm another to get a better item.

Adding a temper reset will only drive people to farm resets it would seem.

We already have the risk of not getting high rolls you want. What you propose, is even worse than resets. Your suggestion just simply gives the player what they want. Which would be way too powerful, and end the loot hunt quickly.

Temper reset would just streamline the system way too much. It’s a bad idea and there’s a reason it’s not in the game after the PTR and a month of S4. Tempering needs improvement with it’s RNG but a temper reset isn’t the solution. It will just guarantee people will have 1GA/2GA items with perfect tempers and be at near-max power for their build within like 30 hours of playtime after a new season starts, leaving you with spending countless hours trying to find 3GA items and not getting anything, then quitting anyway. Leveling is already trivialized. Enemy & boss difficulty has already been trivialized. Nightmare dungeons have already been trivialized. Stop asking to trivialize everything else.

Love it or hate it, tempering purposefully makes the game an item hunt, where you’re always out looking for new gear the potential temper & use. That’s much more enjoyable than just making the game a gold & material farm to endlessly temper your gear until it’s got everything you want.

The day Blizzard add a temper reset is the day the game dies off to D3-style seasons where the majority of people play it for a few days or a week tops and then player retention falls off a cliff.

I have only gotten that 1 perfect roll. My point for the reset is most players are using gear with 3 of 5 rolls correct for the build with only 1 GA if lucky. With just 1 temper being able to reset you could at least get 4 of 5 right for your build with 1 GA . This would help all players with 1 reset instead of 2 on tempering. Most players builds only acheive 5 of 5 on maybe 20% of gear.

People asking for players to temper their expectation of drops until after tempering is complete does not fit with the devs propaganda of wanting to get us excited for item drops.

I think this is the disconnect we are suffering through right now.

Without a temper reset you can’t get excited for a drop. With a temper reset it may trivialize loot. They should have just added a loot filter to the old systems so we didn’t spend so much time looking at items and could just kill things until we found what we were looking for.

3GA is not rare at all if you have a big wallet

I don’t mind the bricking but to make the system more forgiving I would implement two things.

  1. The same stat within a category cannot roll twice in a row. This ensures the system uses one of the other stats so you avoid the frustration or rolling cutthroat five times in a row and have a higher chance of rolling your desired stat.

  2. You have the option of choosing to apply the new temper roll or keeping your old one. This will function similar to how enchanting works and allows you to attempt for a higher percentage roll on a stat without completely bricking your item with a stat you don’t want.

agreed. there should be no bricking at all when getting 2 and 3x GA items worth anything is so rare. maybe if they removed worthless stats like life per sec ect it would be ok but thats all i ever get

Major issues with tempering equipment. The re rolls constantly brick the equipment. Consistently receive maximum re rolls of the same affix. Example, 5 for 5 of pyromancy finesse- legendary- fire damage. Needed mastery damage. Bricked 5 pieces of equipment due to the exact same re rolls. That’s 25 results for “fire damage” in a row, when all l needed was a single result for mastery damage. This isn’t consistent with a random roll process. That’s almost consistent with a fixed outcome based on an imprinted aspect. This issue is wrecking the ability to play the game in the capacity of using an end game build. Just scrap the random re roll function and let us build whatever we want from the current aspects and possible affixes. It will remove the frustration of constructing a build. The current RNG results and outcomes for tempering items is straight up making me want unistall and abandon this game.

Dispite countless cries for the removal of bricking Blizzard say no they are keeping it in their campfire chat much to the relief of gold sellers/item traders. If you don’t like it theres other games out there -is the sort of hint they are giving?

I doubt Blizz will add a reset for tempering, But they might since we can reset masterworking. But the item would still be account bound would be my guess.

The process is. Sure we get power. Bricking items should not be a thing at all.

I’ve been blasting for a month straight and have not once got a 3GA drop. I see them being traded in Chat all the time though. I’ve only had 4 2GA drops over 2 Characters while Leveling to 100.

As it stands right now, I bricked the 2GA Wand for my Sorc last night and it made me close the game. I put in a lot of time I’d say and a lot of NMDs.

Finally getting an upgrade from a drop after hours of playing and it being ruined in a few seconds is just bad game design. I dont mind regular Ancestral Leg’s getting brikcked but not GA items.

There is a reset for tempering, it’s called stop being lazy and farm more gear.
