But to sum up, they think the game will have greater longevity on the whole (because of the trend to social online gaming) if they encourage people to think of it as a social group game and they will sell more cosmetic items if they encourage group play because people want to show of their look to their friends.
Bottom line their a for profit company and think this path will increase their profits.
