Game crashes right after title screens

I have a recurring issue and a side gripe. It seems other people have the same one. Diablo IV crashes right after the title screens, before character select. One savvy player discovered that if you skip the first “Blizzard” title screen, but don’t skip the “Vessel of Hatred” loading screen, it will launch. I did that for a while, but recently even that stopped working. I’m a pretty technical player. I’ve re-installed, I’ve scanned and repaired, I’ve disabled my firewall, I’ve uninstalled apps …
