Blizzard should reevaluate Hardcore Mode so it targets hardcore gamers

If you say so, but If I want to PvP I play a PvP game and not cry because noone goes into the PvP areas in Diablo

You have no idea what I’m even talking about so I’m done with this debate.

It’s not much of a debate. Sounds like you should play a different game, because this one ain’t it.

I edited my original post to provide some clarity and give some examples.

I liked the D1 version where you drop
your items upon dying. Would be cool to be able to loot someone’s stash when you kill them by using their ear as a key to a chest in town. Also, let’s get real. We should be able to declare hostility like in D2 and fight people anywhere outside of towns.

the definition of hardcore is the permadeath 1 life. everything you describe in your edited post are things that can change in the normal game. it sounds like you want to call yourself a hardcore player without the risk

Exactly, stuff like that are important and cool! I would like some more of that, honestly.

I get what you’re saying. But, that’s why I’m calling it an overhaul. It’s a fundamentally different experience.

I would still argue there’s nothing hardcore in Hardcore mode right now in D4. Permadeath means nothing when you can’t die unless you fell asleep on your keyboard.

I think in d4 perma-death is too much because of the sheer amount of one-shot death situations. It would be nice to have penalty for death, so a 72 hour ā€œrest at the innā€ could be a moderate penalty.

considering they got rid of death evasion elixir your viewpoint doesnt reflect actual hardcore players or the devs views on the hardcore experience. risk is what hardcore is about. permanent death is the most integral part of the experience

I’m not suggesting to take permadeath away though. It would still be there, just optional.

it is optional. the other option is softcore

Uh, ok. Well, there’s nothing hardcore in what is called Hardcore mode in D4 :man_shrugging:

and taking away permadeath makes it more hardcore? i mean your other suggestions, ok, but how can you claim it is not hardcore now and then suggest taking away permadeath makes it more hardcore?

Honestly, I’m personally not hellbent on making it optional. I would be ok if it stayed always on but I think considering all the other changes it would turn off most people.

Besides, the game would offer some challenge. That means you’d probably die way more often than regular mode where you’re almost always immortal. I think keeping it optional is the way to go.

Not just you.
This guy is just asking if its a good idea to make the game better, but didn’t realize that Hardcore means you only have one life.

i think permadeath is more challenging personally than what you ask for.
also, just one little tidbit that you forgot about : Hardcore IS permadeath.

what you are asking for is merely a ā€œruthless modeā€ , meaning a harder difficulty with more scarce drops / exp
which could be a thing sure

but definitely not something that should replace hardcore which is it’s own thing based on adrenaline rush. (which, your idea, don’t have, i mean, you could die and not care about it…so no adrenaline there, it’s like simply adding WT5)

They all say that until they die. Then it’s off to the forums to cry about latency.

HC mode is fine. All of your suggestions aren’t really real ideas anyway. They amount to the beauty contestant generic world peace answer - vague with no substance.

Yah after you clear all the Uber bosses on Hardcore, and reach for the highest Pit clear that toon can complete, its time to play another class, or Elden Ring SotE.

i always wonder how you guys keep calling the game too easy, and you havent even beaten pit 150 yet.

like base on what exactly making you think the game is too easy, while you are nowhere even near the goal post?

I can answer that. After a certain GR lvl, it becomes arbitrary. My build is where it’s supposed to be, my paraboard is set and min/maxed, I cleared all attainable content, and other than more arbitrary stats there’s nothing of interest lying ahead.
