Blizzard has conceded the aRPG ‘Best in Class’ to PoE

Says who? Have you seen day 1 sales projections form an analyst recently that was posted on reddit? They project 18M based on trends they were seeing online and said it would put D4 at 100x the player count of the cutrent PoE league.

PoE maxed out around 3M a few years ago and has been trending downward for start of league players. I doubt PoE was ever bigger than D3. This really screams of the D2 playets always trying to claim credit for D3s success as if it eas only D2 players buying D3 over and over for some unknown reason despite them hating the game.

Unfortunately, we will never know since Blizzard claimed millions return for seasons, and GGG doesn’t publish numbers either.

I still contend PoE would be a ghost zone if people had to buy it to play it.

I think you feel differently once you find an unique item.

Yes Diablo is acradey! You get it! its not an rpg or mmo, its an action dungeon crawler arcade game, the best one of them all easily. its not a grind to collect items and farm same things endlessly for some drop, its a battle for your life.

what it lacks in complexity it makes up for in action that demands perfect execution in tenths of seconds. (yeah there are games that needs way better refelexes then that but as far as I know, no aRPG has this quick pacing)

you kind of have to. making a build that will be good enough is beyond most people.

It has been trending upwards every league.

Don’t care about how many sales Diablo 4 is projected to have lol.

I guarantee you without a shadow of a doubt, less than 100k people return for DIablo 3 seasons. I’d be surprised if it was even 50k.

Diablo 4 is going to be a terrible game in its current state. Unless there are some massive changes.

POE best in class more like best in TRASH

LOL

Then why would Blizzard say that? Where is your proof?

Where did Blizzard ever say that?

Where is my proof of what?

which is why POE sucks

poe isn’t even the second best arpg out there, let alone best.

That’s rather subjective. You haven’t even seen the full game yet.

We get it you are sad they won’t make the game just for you but you aren’t the sole audience for the game.

I quite like the game the way it is.

Poe is an awful game full of illusion of choice

if you like reading a lot and theory crafting PoE is a great game. very meh combat I think personally.

If you like smashing faces D4 is a great game, great combat.

To me combat is most important. If you wanna read an essay about your class before playing and then farm builds for hours, sure go play PoE

but what do I know I main barb, I like smashing faces. All you sorcs in your fancy robes keep reading your books and pretend its “action RPG” to me its “wall of text and unnecessarily complex RPG”.

might wanna double check that.

expedition’s first weekend had 30k less ppl than the previous league and the highest week1 to week2 drop in poe’s history at -44.27%

the trend you mention seems to have ~stopped around Ritual

If POE is so great why do I think it sucks?

Yes. I want them to copy PoE so that:

  1. You need 3rd party tools to make a build function

  2. You need a video guide to make a build function

  3. You need a video guide to understand the currencies

  4. You need a video guide to understand the league mechanics

  5. You need a video guide to understand trading

  6. You need a video guide to copy a build to fight overtuned monsters because the game keeps making the leveling experience extremely tedious for ‘vision’ purposes.

Absolutely terrible take. PoE has seen the worst numbers ever, and you’re calling it the king, lol.

Forgot to mention. People cry over blizzard’s monetization, and PoE has MTX that costs 80-100 bucks PER LEAGUE, so your character doesn’t look like a hobo. Even to use the wardrobe function requires you to transfer the skin from an item you want, to your character… which costs money…

I think PoE is a fine game and yes contrary to what anyone says is it is consider the reigning king of arpg world(it helped launch an entire company). Does D4 need to be PoE? Absolutely not. Its simplicity is its major selling point. That being said I hope builds can be a little more complex than just put on item with %damage for certain skill.

Blizz don’t want to compete because they know they will lose.
They choose to be shallow. They choose the “easy” path so if game fails, they don’t waste a lot on maintenance.
They were not aiming to do some kind of defining game gender. They were aiming to do something to sell for their fanbase.
They lack passion for the game, for the franchise (and plz, D3 is a shame for the franchise)

I love how PoE apologists seem to believe they have some above average intellectual level for enjoying PoE over another. Meanwhile their second monitor is just a Path of Building screen with some cookie cutter build they’re copying each season.
