Blizzard D4 Team: THANK YOU FOR SAVING MY SUMMER

S14 is confirmed to not include the most unanimously requested (ok maybe there are 5 people not alligned) changes: account-wide warplans, better meta balance, etc. You know the list, I won’t repeat it.

Worse: they doubled down on some of the most criticized changes. Example: random mythic upgrades. Now your items are even more random: a 3GA item can evolve into a garbage mythic if upgraded. This is just one sensitive topic, but the list is long, do your own research here, on X, YouTube, Reddit, etc.

And the cherry on top: cosmetic-wise, the D4 team had easy wins and obvious opportunities => Berserk skins for the new chapter release, wings bundles, and so on. But instead released VoH armor cosmetics nobody asked for.

Big thumbs up for the WoW skins, though. Probably the best highlight since May 2026. Top stuff.

Enjoy the summer, guys. Diablo fans have never had such a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a screen-free summer.

Be positive, touch grass. Ciao

Sorry mate, but this time I promised my wife and kittens I would have some self-respect. Feel free to tell me “OK, they came to their senses” to summon me back.

Thanks.

So they’re doing everything they said they would in the Blog Post and during the PTR Sit Down, but we still haven’t gotten the updated patch notes, along with the dev update for the new season. Regardless though, aside from Iconic Mythics being worse, and a few nerfs to classes, the rest is actually better. I’m not saying I agree with their execution of things, but looked at as a whole is all I mean.

The War Plans we knew about due to the Sit Down, they have no immediate plans for it for S14 other than the aforementioned changes to exp gains. Which proves they’ve been thinking of smaller changes to come in S14 over a bigger change which might include it being account wide instead. Makes sense to me anyway. Changing a number versus changing a whole system, probably not enough time with everything else they’re doing in S14.

The Unique/Mythic thing was no doubt planned before LoH launched though, considering the state of uniques going into LoH. It was a half-baked execution that wasn’t fully fleshed out probably due to time constraints of getting LoH out first. So this change doesn’t surprise me, but I still don’t agree with uniques having randomized affixes though.

That being said, nothing wrong with skipping a season or several. People do it all the time. Enjoy your summer.

Life doesn’t seem all that interesting if you’re wasting your time on pointless posts like this…

Nobody gives a damn whether you play this season… or the next one… or don’t play for the next 10 seasons… just saying…,

What’s going on in your head that makes you think you’re sharing relevant information with others here?

Millions of players worldwide decide every day to play a game… or not to play a game… take a break… switch games…

And now what you do is newsworthy? :man_shrugging: :man_facepalming:

Let’s go down the list from the PTR: What you need to know blog post.

1 - Realmwalker events are better. You don’t follow the stupid things around, you just stay in one area with a giant circle, place yourself in little circles to keep the rift open longer, and then the big guy spawns at the end, kill him, jump in a portal, kill more things, lot of loot. New Boss was fun, but easy all things considered.

2 - Being able to change your Unique’s affixes in the cube, along with changing the Aspect Power value in the cube (regardless if it’s ancenstral or not), is a big QoL that coincided with the change to make them have random affixes now. I still don’t agree with this change, but the upcoming change to allow us to slap it in the cube does make it better from a QoL perspective.

3 - LB coming out of Beta with rewards to match. Good for those who enjoy that stuff, I do not, so doesn’t affect me, but more power to people who like it.

4 - War Plans Exp updated, no it’s not the change people were asking for, but it’s a step in the right direction. Now if we could just get 1/3rd the exp for doing these activities outside of the war plans, account bound, and potentially easier selection, that would be great.

5 - Chromatic Tuning Prisms will have a small chance to provide All Resist. Small, but much needed change here.

6 - SSF mode, great for those who like the mode. Great for me because that means I can play a separate character when my wife doesn’t want to play that night.

7 - Random QoL Stuff:

  • 25K Cap on Obols, 999b gold cap, 999m gem fragment cap
  • Added missing minimap icons to Nightmare Dungeon and Pit objects.
    • What’s not mentioned in the patch notes are the horadric chests now show up on the minimap and overlay maps when in a NMD as well.
  • Added missing Boss Trophy items for Astaroth and Bartoc and combined recipes for them in the Horadric Cube.
  • War Plans can be party synched
  • Echoing Hatred keys are no longer rarer than Mythic Seals, still rare, but actually obtainable within the length of a season

So as a whole, I’d say better. Numbers and balance will be constantly tweaked, I’ve never worried about that myself. Iconic Mythics needed to be changed for sure, but doesn’t mean I agree with the execution, or the changes to Uniques in general mind you.

D3 isn’t getting anymore balance updates so, it will always be season of the necro in that game.

They also said something about increasing the drop rate for the Trace of Echoes to activate the Echoing Hatred. Which is good considering I did not even get to try it this season because I never found any Trace of Echoes.

Oh right, I forgot to add that. During the PTR I found one within the first 4 hours (give or take). So yea was definitely easier finding a key this time around.

That is the only non-serious part of that post

Thanks! I’ll spend it playing Path of Exile 2 and Cities Skylines 2. That is the plan anyway unless Diablo 4 can come up with something to grab my attention

Cool. See you in season 15 after Blizzard course corrects after the predicted season 14 engagement drop. Might have an interesting seasonal theme by then too. Anything is better than the realm walkers. Err, realm loiterers.
