Bliizard take notes from a Real AAA gaming comany

A real triple A studio like what? Larian?

If you’re praising balders you haven’t reached act 3 and haven’t played past act 1

We paid a minimum of $70 to be their QA and they don’t even listen to us.

There was an old series of commercial for the electronics manufacture Zenith that all ended with their tag line, “The quality goes in before the name goes on.”

Blizzard is the anti-Zenith, the Nadir if you will, where the tag line seems to be, “The name goes on as we rush it out the door.”

Shakogate – a freaking loot table, they couldn’t get a LOOT TABLE right… cross realm exploit – where’s the PTR server(s) for D4? Every damn PTR in D3 has found major bugs with the seasons (not they always did anything about it but it found issues) but no… can’t do PTR in D4 that wouldn’t be right. Crashes, leaks, disconnects, I said it elsewhere I’ve been to demolition derbies with fewer crashes than D4.

Yeah… they’ve actually a pretty amazing job of bring the 5e rules to a working game. Currently there’s a Monk build that breaks the game with something like 160-320 dmg a turn. Yeah, you can only do it for a few turns, it relies heavily on stacking bonus actions, but with that much raw damage you don’t NEED lots of turns.

Hell, they knew the 5e rules were going to be a problem once players started getting level 7 spells. Limited Wish anyone? So they’ve capped player progress to level 12. Still, that’s enough for a full game with a great story line and tons of interesting interactions and mountains of replay potential.

IIRC, Zenith made CRT TVs.

I’m guessing you’ve never had to DM when 2 people are playing sub par classes and others are playing busted ones. Good luck trying to introduce situations that don’t kill one or engage the other.

D&D has RP but it is still a game. Games have designs, rules and balance so that everyone playing can enjoy themselves, Including the DM. You don’t get to say “Oh, RP makes it okay for one class to deal 200 damage in a turn while another does 30” and yes, those are legitimate numbers.

Some of this isn’t the fault of 5E either. Larian decided to throw in their own ARPG style homebrew items and absolutely scuff an already flawed edition of D&D. It’s actually kinda funny because they’ll give you this epic cutscene with ultra legendary item and the green you found in Act1 is still better.

You want to talk about RP? How immersed would you be if a Celestial gives you a +3 sausage.
I’ve been DMing for 30 years. Some semblance of balance is needed or it turns into nonsense.

It doesn’t sound like youre very good at it

but how many yachts does Sven have?

I’m confused, doesn’t Blizzard have a QA pipeline? Here is their process:

  1. determine which nerfs + shop items to push out next
  2. barge into software engineers floor and tell them this is priority #1
  3. make sure compiled code still launches
  4. push executable to playerbase
  5. wait for inevitable 1000s of players complaining and/or exploiting
  6. disable content
  7. 2 days later, release hotfix
  8. see step #1
