Yep. That’s another small nerf to Thorns.
I’m hoping one of the new uniques/aspects is a version of Hack in some way. That’ll be dope.
Frenzy Thorns ftmfw.

Frenzy Thorns ftmfw.
I swapped over from Thorns to WW/DD.
Does everything better and is more fun… aside from pit pushing.
I did the same, actually. Thorns is pretty slow and situational. Wrong boss = restart.
Frenzy Thorns (D3 prior to the Frenzy set) is my favorite build of all-time. Thorns needs some active offensive functionally.
I want this in D4.
They should make the taunt part of a shout make the mobs go just bonkers and start beating you fast and then they would thorn themselves to death lol
That’s what everybody who saw Challenging Shout thought should happen. In the game, Taunt monsters just face said player and do nothing. It’s even consider a CC since you can’t Taunt Unstoppable monsters.
Grim Dawn. Fevered Rage.
13-19% Reduction to Enemy’s Health
Total Damage Modified by 40%
+25% Offensive Ability
-25% Defensive Ability
+150% Total Speed
-35% Skill Energy Cost
Challenging Shout should increase their attack speed and make them only attack you.
I agree with you to a point about wild builds being possible with investment, but that guy I saw with 620k life lol… I dunno feels like that’s just silly. So is Barb’s doing billions of damage.
But I don’t think the right answer is to nerf stuff outright; The introduction of caps on some Paragon glyphs is a much smarter method and I don’t see why they can’t take a similar approach.
Thorns is my favorite thing ever and I’m only just now finding out how insane it is… I mean I knew about Razorplate buff but had no idea it was this crazy.
Actually, thinking about it now running Razorplate is probably worse than a tempered body due to the max life conversion…
I’d still wanna run Andariel’s Visage for the Lifesteal.
Problem with capping paragon glyphs is you hurt the builds using that glyph that are not OP too. Already talked about Blood Rage as a perfect example of this. If a build is over performing, tune what ever skill that build uses, don’t nerf something that other builds rely on too.
I do agree tho, barb health pools getting into 100s of thousands or dealing billions of damage (assuming on my end that other classes cant reach that, I dont know) is problematic. I’d think ~50k where my WW barb is at upwards of 100k tops would be a reasonable ceiling for health.
How many Barbs you think are rollin around at 620k life? How many hours, mats, and rerolls do you think it took him?
They shouldn’t nerf. They should bring other classes and skills up. If bosses have trillions of life, all builds need the potential to do billions of damage and the potential to mitigate the crazy damage they do us.
Barbs should have more life and damage than other classes. They’re melee tanks that have to stand still. Thorns literally has to get hit to deal damage.
Out of curiosity, did you put GA vulnerable on weapons, the original item drop not tempering? Or did you put GA Critical Strike Damage?
There should still be reasonable limits on stuff though or people will completely trivialize the game.
Typically go for Vuln rolls and temper crit. Not all my gear has GA vuln, nor is it all 12/12 yet.
Sure, but we should be able to feel like gods once we have full investment and build properly. As-is, we have a few overperforming builds that typically rely on bugs or double dipping in order to blast everything. Even with bugs, full immunity, double dipping, and a pure support buff Barb, nobody has cleared Pit 200.
Content needs to be beatable. When the absolute pinnacle is so hard, that makes everything else trivial. Natural progression.
there was datamine bash got a 80% nerf on tempers
That’s wack. Got a link to datamine?
Look ad4 reddit, its up there in first posts.
1hander caps at 20% i think on base roll
Yeah, the highest range of Bash Cleave tempers goes from 82.5% → 105%, to 15% → 20% (for one handers/gloves).
There’s another new Unique 1H Sword (that anyone can use) that reads “Basic Skills gain [100%-300%] [ x ] Damage, but now cost 25 Resource per attack.” So the devs want you to use that Sword and build towards Resource Gain now, I guess.
Hope that sword will make up for the massive nerf
I like this site, it’s well organized with color coding and so forth:

I see they also went bonkers with GF. It’s now 200% x
