Better when you don't rely on other people's thoughts

Personally, I think it’s just a too many cooks issue. Too much outsourcing, too much spaghetti code, too many disjointed voices. You see it clearly in some of the content that got added in D4. Different language/terms, some things additive while indicating multiplicative, etc., etc.

I even said so during Closed Beta, as many terms were redundant and not defined clearly. Close, Distant, Melee, Ranged. And while the game does define Health triggers like Healthy (greater than 80%), Not Healthy (less than 80%), Not Injured (greater than 35%), and Injured (less than 35%) - it all just confuses most players that either don’t care or whiz by the mobs too quickly for it to matter.

Please tell me you didn’t fall for that stupid Hawg video. The game was not outsourced.

I understand what you are saying. In my opinion, however, ultimately the lead designer should be the one with the final decisions about these things. Again, as I said before, hearing the lead class designer say “It’s scary to buff” is equally ridiculous and annoying. If you know what you are doing, it’s not at all scary because no matter how “complicated” the mathematical solution is, it has been solved. If it’s complicated it is because they are guessing and not solving for a solution. They are skipping steps, or multiplying when they should be using addition or vice versa.

I agree, however blizzaed appears to be relying on the most self interested and toxic for their feedback. Also, the logic and narrative of that “feedback” is frequently contradictory. Leaving me to wonder what the real goal and purpose of the “feedback” is.

That’s the issue though. They hire “designers” rather than “makers”. The designer is just that; they design a concept, others execute it. I doubt you will ever see Rod (or any Blizzard public-facing designer) actually code, implement, or even playtest anything. It’s been like that since WoW’s inception. That’s the direction Blizzard took. I retract that - I think Chris Metzen did a lot of testing himself.

That’s why there is a disconnect, and why there will always be one.

Very helpful vid…

My statement has nothing to do with that video.
You just believing that.

lmao itemization better thats a good one have fun trying to scale cold dmg
frost dmg
chill dmg

Like the old saying.

Ignorance is bliss!

But those same crafting materials used to be target farmable items for the useful crafting system that existed in the game before RoS made it irrelevant…

I’m not a PVPer… but pvp in D4 is way better than D3:RoS. It’s not just portal to some areas you can damage other players… there are actual mechanics and incentives built into the game and world itself.

The fact that everyone isn’t forced into a psuedo SSF mode is way better… even if I still want open trading like D2 and Vanilla D3…

My main point was that they didn’t learn anything from D3… They ruined what was true to Diablo 2 about the game with RoS. They didn’t improve the game, they made it into something else entirely gameplay wise.

The ONLY thing wrong with Vanilla D3 was how they tied drops rates to auction house values to extract the most money via transaction fees. I’m convinced they only went account bound everything so that nobody else could make money on RMT if they couldn’t.

Beyond that… the only real complaint from D2 fans was it was too colorful. I’ve actually seen D2 fans say that D4 is too dark and bland tho… so… :man_shrugging:

Then what was your false statement based on? Because the game was not outsourced.

A’yup. And sad. Very sad about the state of the game and beloved franchise.

One of the largest channels on youtube for a time was cinemasins

Being negative gets interaction
Being abrasive gets interaction

Just how it is sadly

I enjoy D4, and I played through betas, server slam, early access.

I can tell you that I don’t play with others, I only join groups in worldboss and I don’t trade. I solo most of the time

Why is D4 heading down the hill now ?

1/ the game was much better in betas and release. It was very enjoyable, mobs were not CCing as much as they do now. They fixed them a couple times, one example is the vampires and succubi with their teleport…virtually zero cooldown. They tried fixing it but not completely fixed it

2/ the game has always been around crit/vul as core mechanics. But then they nerfed crit/vul as much as 55% from affixes to skills and other factors all together. They did this just because some streamers abused the builds, they did not care about being defensive, but all about “chasing the number” so they can rake in views, even if the build only work 50% at times where they dies over and over, they just highlight the actions and edit the clips to show.

Blizzard watched these clips and decided to take action…aka a nerf to the core mechanics.

Most casual players like working dads and moms, don’t have time to go through with every little things and build the abusive way to get a half working broken build that may ditch out millions damages. They want something consistent and sufficient to level under the most effortless way. This was how D4 was built based on and released based on. Yes, I knew it, because I didn’t know anything about D4 until they started advertising with KFC for open betas codes and so on. I played it casually and I found bleeding barb was great game plays.

Then, the broke builds from streamers started surfacing. The barb got the nerf hammer first of all on release, and then further and further, just because a lot of streamers enjoying barb, build so much broken barb builds, abusing the instances where 80% of it would be “unrealistic game play” just to show the number. They even show infinion damages from barb by glitching an elite that never died with bleed and stun and so on for almost 40 minutes to finally arrived at a disgusting number of damage. Therefore, blizzard just keep on nerfing barb.

Afterward, other classes showed case of how they could target the core mechanics such as vul/crit to ditch out fun number…etc… and the trolls keeps on posting and hating it…So Blizzard buffed up the “Mobs” on high level from Tier IV and NM dungeons. Later on, Blizzard nerfed vul/crit from the players because they got trolled

When the majority of players voiced up, Blizzard made a promise that they didn’t uphold, that they nerfed the game big time and they would fix it . But they didn’t . They will further scaling the core mechanisms of vul/crit again. I have no problem with fixing or tempering with vul/crit. However, I do have problems with over tuned mobs/bosses that do disgusting 1 shot move, or absurd amount of CC such as the spider boss and it nets that entangle you and so on without cooldown.

Not only the core mechanics of vul/crit were needed to stay Viable and efficient at higher level, but the way most bosses are designed so that they have to be taken down quickly, before they can pull any disgusting moves, such as Uber Lilith or Uber Butcher. When I said disgusting moves is when they can one shot you with a broken “hit box” that you clearly avoided the telegraphed areas and still died, or you got ridiculously CCed and damaged to dead, or you are hopelessly bringing down the Barriers that refreshes to “no ends”…. Therefore, you need to take them down as quickly and effortlessly as you can, and the only way to do so is to utilize the core mechanics of vul/crit.

Blizzard went ahead with neglecting the vul/crit output from players in the while everything in the game remains the same , disgusting bosses, one shot by mobs from off the screens , broken hot boxes , chained CC to no ends…etc.

This was and is the time that the casual players such as mom and dad, stopped playing. It is ridiculous. You got abused from a glitchy game, and you got nerfed from the game makers because they got trolled by view baiting clips…etc…call me being a “skill issues” is fine. I am a working dad with casual play style. I don’t watch streamers, and I don’t have all the time to farm, buy, roll affixes to the utmost requirements for a broken damage number, because all I want is just to have fun with D4. I will be honest to say that non of the builds that were disclosed by the streamers from Bulwark to HOTA barb, bonespear necro or Mendeln minions can ditch out 10-20M damage for me and my play style. I can do at most 1M damage to a trash mob that is the explosive minions by the shaman. Typically I hit 400-500k and I am damn happy to clear stuff and keep progressing. That is all I wanted

Suddenly everything got cut in halves. Yeah, I was disappointed, but I still play D4, and to top that off, I play Hardcore. I died by many different circumstances, even the most ridiculous rubber banding and disconnection, blocked out of log in situation and so on….I still play D4

So…yes, I enjoy it. I still don’t follow them trolls streamers and I know my view will bring them the $ … so I don’t just watch any clips randomly at all. Some of them got linked up and I sometime watched a quick look just to see what they were doing.

In conclusion, if you meant that some one got influenced by the social medias, the clips, the trolling, the ridiculous damage number , to bring the game down ? That would be Blizzard, because they got trolled into nerfing stuff they shouldn’t. Not even with 2/3 of the solution, they just shouldn’t. Me ? I am still playing. Disappointed? Sure did, but still playing. That is all

I don’t believe Blizzard will fix this anytime soon, not like they Couldn’t or can not, but they just will not. Because after all, Blizzard currently, doesn’t care about retaining players, and or enjoying the game themselves any more. The current Blizzard is not what I knew of what once was

I honestly could not care any less about PVP in this type of game. There are numerous venues that are straight-up PvP games, where that is ALL people do IS PvP. Why not play those? I suspect it is for the “fun” of killing people like me, while I am trying to fully explore the map and get the shrines, giggling with their friends about how they just “OWNED” this sorcerer, who wasn’t pvping or doing events, just getting her shrines finished before the season. But small boys with big egos will always want PvP in a game that really has no reason for it. But hey, I am SURE they had a blast camping that shrine and griefing non-pvpers.
As a disclaimer, I didn’t know you could log out and back in to get a new instance back then. But when I was little my older brothers loved PvP, they played CoD and other games like that. A game where literally EVERYONE is full-on PvP 24/7.

Sorry if you said more about other topics, after the PvP section, I just couldn’t bother.

Hey catch up the forums have been deliberately moving away from talking about the game. So far we’ve been talking literature, theatre, political and economical theory and modern philosophy feel free to contribute.

How about, how do you know elements were not outsourced and what is your claiming of my statement is false based on?

So what about those of us like me who played the game and came to my own conclusions about the game? And it is funny how many of the things I have found to be lacking were also pointed out by others. Just odd. I guess everyone is wrong though.

I found out this game was an unfinished cash grab scam all by myself. Through buying it, and playing it. And seeing just how many things didn’t work.
