The Berserk collab is disappointing. I don’t even mean the 5 cosmetic reliquary either.
In terms of pursuing to do collabs with other non-blizzard IPs, I fully approve.
As a fan of both Diablo and Berserk, I’m happy to see this collab.
However, very little of Berserk’s world was brought over for a “collaboration”.
Behelits drop in the game, from elites. That makes sense, kind of.
That is the bare minimum effort when compared to collabs in other games.
Berserk has the Godhand, antagonists on par with, if not stronger than the prime evils.
Also there are Berserk specific lesser demons who exist by using the power of Behelits.
This collab would have actually felt like a collab; if the enemies from Berserk were incorporated into the event at all.
For that level of effort (incorporating enemies from other IPs).
Ideally these collabs re-occur after some period of time.
Truly, I’m not trying to suggest that the Diablo team should effectively build a colosseum just to use it once, if the effort is there I would be happy to see the content again.
But it needs to be something more than an item drop. A reference that does nothing in game other than act as a sad reliquary currency.
I say this as someone who bought the paid cosmetics too.
I’m more than happy to support more collabs.
Just so long as they actually feel like a collab and not just a cash grab with no gameplay elements.
