Barb needs BUFFED or other classed need heavily nerfed

New video from Rob highlighting all classes at end game against Lilith. All other classes can defeat her in about 90-120 seconds but it takes 10 minutes for Barb. This is not balanced and needs to be addressed. The nerfs for barb were too heavy. I’m also pissed off at the nerf to the Gohrs gauntlets. You describe uniques as " class defining" I describe those gauntlets as a fart in the wind. They are useless and do nothing. If that effect was a normal legendary effect It would never be used by any player.

Agreed barb DPS is so far below other classes its gross.

Not just terrible DPS, but terrible survivability as well, rouge with trash gear can not only out dps a barb with little effort but also out tank barbarian.

They’ve always been so hesitant to give Barbs (melee in general) any sort of real power. We need John Yang back, boys. He did it right in D3 when they let him. Then, after he went to WoW, they gutted all his melee/Barb improvements. It’s weird. POE does the same thing with melee. They restrict and nerf it so hard for whatever reason.

  • Our class specific legendary paragon nodes are laughable compared to other classes.
  • The class specific legendaries and uniques are pathetically weak.
  • Skills, techniques, and aspect interactions are bugged.
  • Shouts take up half of most Barbs’ active skills.
  • 3 core skill options have only 1 underwhelming aspect each.
  • Ultimates are barely used/viable.
  • The majority of bonuses that are available are ultra-situational, double RNG-based that only last for a few seconds.

All builds/classes should feel smooth and powerful with proper build and investment. They’re just flat out doing it wrong in many areas.

Is it though? I’m level 83 WW barb and my Crit chance is 88% [So almost always critting] critting for 250k like 15 times per second.

I’m routinely one of the highest Damage characters in the fields of hatred, and doing top DPS in all of my party runs. I literally can solo the world boss on T4 pretty quickly.

The shouts dependency is the real problem here. This is why it’s generally bad to have %base damage buff bound to buttons. War Cry is a bad war cry; all it does is give you a flat damage buff. Challenging shout has alternatives, because you could use Iron Skin or forgo it for CC. There is no alternative for War Cry.

The thing is – because of the way shouts work and the CDR they get off of each other, you only get the max value out of any ONE of them if you have all THREE of them. This was a design error; I appreciate the intent with synnergy; and it’s not like they are too strong; but it seems like the barb is balanced around them. Other stuff needs to be better, because even with them – I guess we’re sub-optimal?

I do also believe the WW barb would be in a better place if Wrath of the Beserker didn’t stop you channeling. WotB is a shout, but it’s the only shout that interupts your WW.

This is especially bad in PvP, because you have to CC yourself before you can attack.

I feel like this is also an issue with the Rogue. Imbue’s are required; therefor the rogue really only have 5 skill slots. Imbuement should have been part of the rogues “special systems”

In general; I think it’s bad design when you design mandatory skills, especially when you have a skill bar restriction.

Mandatory skills basically remove even more skill slots. Diablo III suffered from this in greater fashion; and I don’t think this is uniformly applied to all classes in DIV, but the few times it pops up is a few times too many.

The crit chance and damage for WW are decent because you have 4-5 aspects (including a unique) that is usable, viable, synergistic, and designed specifically for that skill. As all of them should have supporting aspects/legendaries/uniques to do the same. No other Barb core skill has an aspect that can increase the crit chance so much.

Rend has 1 item that has a chance to return fury on lucky hit.

Double Swing has 2 dust devils that zip through the screen randomly (at light speed) behind your target and deal terribly laughable damage.

Upheaval has a unique that deals minimal burning damage with no way to scale it.

The burning damage isn’t about adding DPS; but adding a much needed damage reduction for that build.

Goh’rs devestating grips aren’t that great; and there aren’t any other Aspects that really enhance WW specifically outside of the one that add’s Crit Chance.

It’s really edgemasters and the other aspect that work together to stack bonus damage when you have high fury. We also use bleeds to trigger DR against bleeding targets.

Hota is trash outside of PvP. Hell Hammer is a speed farming ranged build; this can be really good in pvp too if you max out your movespeed; because you can kite and drop bombs from a whole screen away.

DPS between ranged builds and melee builds can’t be the same. In other words; I don’t think the balance is as skewed as people make it sound. But yeah – tuning will improve. Not everything is where it needs to be, but it’s also not terribly out of whack either.

They did overnerf Gohr’s and Rage of Harrogath though. Both are trash right now; I feel they did this because WW was standing out; but as we test out other builds at the high end – WW wasn’t standing out, the other ones are just undertuned a bit.

To be fair; WW isn’t bad when compared to other classes though.

Crit chance, pull, and aoe/splash damage. The other 2 aren’t much to talk about, but WW has a total of 5 that work specifically with that skill.

Every other core skill has 1. HoTA is the only core skill (other than WW) that has an aspect that is usable and/or significant.

I like to see those Lilith speedrun videos. Seems every other class can just pop their cooldowns then OHKO Lilith. While barbarian use their Shouts then tickle Lilith to death. Slowly, painfully, at the snail pace.

it’s probably someone who views barbs as Toxic masculinity.

The state of barb is really depressing right now, totally killed my desire to even play the game.

Sorc uses two glitches for the boss fight to win against her, and from all classes, there community with most player of all classes of the game, needed the longest time, to find a build who can glitch the boss.

Well Blizzard, time to pony up. Whack the other classes with the nerf hammer or buff barb. Your choice

It just happens so that barbarian has been the vote of the popularity choices as it is an iconic Diablo class. But I am surprised that blizzard is doing more damages to the class than any other classes. Pathetic

i can agree that barb is in a dire need of fixing there are lots of talents that simple do not live up to how they should work WW also needs to be fixed so when it deals damage it deals it based on the highest stat you have at the current moment cause right now it’s in a strange state were it snapshots your buffs but the moment you move on to new mobs it resets? it works just oddly atm

Barb sucks because its been nerfed 7 times in the first few weeks of release while all other classes have been left unscathed. D4 barb becoming d3 barb.
