Kind of enjoying rogue being fun again and able to clear content after numerous seasons of them being LITERAL TRASH.
Unless they nerf the mobs and emviroment damage and health, This would be a fast way of causeing a mass exodus from this game.
No blizzard only know how to change metas cause it’s cheap and easy. They don’t have any intention of balancing the game.
Thankfully this seems to be a major topic that’s coming up. Maybe they will realize people want choice that comes without sacrificing efficiency.
D3 flavor of the month just needs to stop.
Yeah this is without question….. You cant accidentally have a broken element that garners 1000x power every single season for 3 years lol. I think sometimes they actually miss something that results in even greater unintended consequences but they are FOR SURE creating favored builds seasonally… Does anyone actually not think this? They have all the metrics guys. The overwhelming majority of people have been playing the broken Metas for YEARS now. Of course they are going to keep doing it. If you think they are going to go do some math and come back with a full balance that doesnt have top end outliers go play something else and save your time posting on the forum. Honestly, its never going to happen.
Sure, they should be nerfed similarly too.
I mean, I do think the game should be somewhat harder, especially at lower levels. But current monster health is not compatible with max 1 million DPS, so they would have to change a lot too.
Let me give you a little history on this topic.
I’ve played Diablo games from the get-go, spending a lot of time with Diablo II when it first came out. I played the Amazon Class and struggled until someone came up with a viable build scheme.
It took weeks and weeks of grinding, trading, etc., to complete the build and I loved playing it for about a week before Blizzard decided it was too strong and nerfed it. (One thing to note is that this build was not uber OP, it just was stronger that any other build that was being played by Bowazons.) People, myself included, went nuts.
I believe that that was one of the benefits that Blizzard saw in going to Seasons and it’s why Blizzard doesn’t nerf OP builds unless they’re affecting game play.
They had an entire expansion to do that.
That’s what i found interesting about the PTR patch notes from the initial time I read them. Normally you make a big game changing expansion and then follow it up with an equally size patch as things inevitably will need balanced.
But between the few patches following the expansion and the PTR, we haven’t gotten that. Big things that altered the game state, yes, but not the kind of delicate balance changes that would level out the game.
Oh, I do agree balance should have come with the xpac.
Instead what did they do? Add more multiplicitive damage sorces.
To be fair, it was a new fun build that they are taking away and forcing spiritborn back into irrelevance next season. He still has a point.
Bring the classes and specs together instead of brutalizing them and making them unplayable. I said this on another post, but I think your comment deserves a copy pasta and the same statement.
There were new builds for so many classes this season that they basically said “Nah, too many choices”. “We are implementing a bug fix, a term we coined so we don’t receive backlash for the nerf bat, because what we are doing makes no sense and is not related to any actual problem it’s just unintended play”. Meanwhile, the same bugs that allowed exploits to shoot to the top of the tower charts… Apparently not worthy of being fixed? Or banning those that violated the TOS? People are literally modding the game in order to continue adding more than intended masterworks… How long has that actual issue been around with nothing being done? Instead, they sat in a meeting and really said “Well, Billy, we should go ahead and get rid of that Rushing claw evade spiritborn build, Ball sorcerer? That should go too… Paladins and Warlocks, Meeeehhhhhh, expansion features should be horrible two weeks after it launches”
Just stop. Let people play how they want to play and fix actual issues instead of pigeon-holing people into 1 or 2 builds/classes a season. Whether or not you want to see it, 90% of the time, the nerfs are given to something that never needed it or completely overdone and not fixed.
Right here! I am convinced that this is not intended. And I have a simple reason for that.
To me the problems have been super-consistent since launch: New stuff, items, powers get introduced, and there were always a lot of ultra-random ideas that, not just in comparison to other ideas right next to them, made no sense to introduce in the first place.
Class-unrestricted seasonal powers, for example, dont need to present a clear META-option, and yet they still did, making other options ignored by players completely. This makes no sense if the intention is to provide players new ways to play.
Of course, data and updates are produced the moment players get their hands on these dev-ideas. Usually, you would expect that values have to be fine-tuned slightly to find their place. Unfortunately, Diablo 4 numbers more often than not need to jump in huge ranges. It is the same with buffs at it is with nerfs.
I stopped shaking my head about balancing in Diablo 4 as these problems return literally every season.
Im confused by your reply. You think the disparity with the overpowered builds is on accident? And not by design?
Short answer is because they see the game as good enough, ppl keeping buying things in shop, and metrics are being hit.
I really dont get what is so bad with the game.. ;o
Currently over 800 hours played, since launch, and, there will be more for me, in the future ![]()
I’ve been playing Diablo since 1998 on my PS1, that is why people playing the series as long as me make such threads. We’ve been here and seen so much that we spot things you may not. You’re not wrong as your experience is yours however, people aren’t posting just to hate on the game but in majority cases out of love and a feeling things could be better for everyone if we tell the devs when things are wrong. If we all just sat there, oblivious.. nothing changes for the good and everyone leaves so there may not be a Diablo 5 in the future. You get what I mean?
But , everything changes over time ;o
As a person, you’re not the same, than 10 years ago, So i dunno why people expect same things
I swear, people really struggles with changes =p
Everyone on this forum has been playing as long or longer than you, just ask them. I don’t think we’ve ever had anyone say they started on D3 or Immortal.
It’s like a new player template you have to fill out…name, rank, serial number, which version of Diablo 1 did you start on, favorite pet, least favorite flavor of ice cream…
The central problem with a post like yours is that it lacks empathetic reasoning. There is an implicit entitlement and arrogance in your inflexible viewpoint that keeps you from understanding all the counter points and arguments that can be made to refute your assertions.
While bugs are annoying, they exist in every complicated ARPG. And 20+ years of blizzard games’ massive success, despite there always being bugs, ought to tell you something.
Also keep in mind that every different class/builds exist for choice and preference, knowing full well that their relative power will look like a bell curve…that’s a central design Feature. Yet people refuse to see the Feature and choose to see a flaw.
Some…many, really… people like off Meta and “weaker” builds because its “fun” for them. The number of people that play well past campaign and deep paragon, let alone complete a battle pass, is far less than you likely believe. And most of those players think they got their money’s worth and had fun.
Here is some perspective: A Sega/Nintendo game in 1985 retailed for $40-50. The better games were often $60ish. That’s a price equivalent of $100-150 in today’s dollar. And games are more expensive to develop and offer more total playtime per purchase. Yet a small vocal minority of people like to pretend they represent the majority, then come online and complain…
Once upon a time, we played games that had no manuals and no internet info to know if it was going to suck or not. Maybe there would be a write up in a magazine you could read about, but generally all you had was the game’s box to go by. Gamer’s these days have no sense of how lucky they are.
