Are codex aspects rarer than Mythic Uniques?

It’s not just end game aspect hunting that’s broken AF.

I recently switch accounts. Long story, new country, new account. Any hoo… started playing in Eternal which was a blank slate and ugh… Nearly level 40 and basically have no aspects for my class. I’ve unlocked about half of what I have by getting the rank 1 versions from dungeons. But the last pair of dungeons I did to earn a whisper was a joke… I got more aspects drops from a random pair of goblins I killed than two full dungeons and a Whisper cache.

Everything in this game is throttled to make content hungry streamers and no-lifers happy. So unless you want to play the game like a full time job it’s unrewarding. Their solution for the rest of us is “trade” but that’s broken as well with dupes and bots flooding the market requiring multi billion gold transactions.

If you play a class you have not played before, it will take long time to get all aspects. Pit is a good place to hunt as it drops many legendary gears. The max value of none anchestral aspect in S6 is same as max value of aspect in S5. The one beyond 16/21 is newly added which the dev players to grind for it. The problem is no progression in this area for few days, it doesn’t feel good to grind especially I already finished pit 150 one month ago.

I have around 300 hours so far this season and only have 19 fully upgraded aspects out of 101 - that’s pretty pitiful, even not taking into account that none of them are ones I use.

I’ve had dozens of mythics drop, but the problem is that when you’re farming for mythics with bosses, you aren’t getting legendaries. Only uniques. So it makes the problem even worse.

That is probably why people are feeling that way. I’ve been doing a variety of content all season which is probably why I don’t have the same experience. Although I still did about 300 mythic boss runs to get the 10 or so mythics drops I got this season.

Hopefully we’ll hear something about it in the 2.1 campfire.

This really underscores the ridiculous pace of ancestral aspect drops. You’ve been playing 50-ish hours a week for the 6 weeks has been out and aren’t even close to finishing your codex. Basically you’ve made it a full time (with overtime!) job and the game designers spit in your face and laugh.

And I’m sure the white knights and fan bois will be by to inform us that we’re not grinding hard enough, or grinding the wrong content, or that “it’s supposed to take forever or we’d just quit sooner”. Always an excuse that it’s our fault and never the fault of lousy design leading to a crummy experience.

It’s as designed - the dev’s believe the grind will keep us engaged. The evidence supports what should have been obvious to them - when you give loot in a loot based game people don’t play it. Season 6 has seen the steepest drop off on Steam since they put the game on that planform.

Who knows - maybe they have a big boost to loot in season 7 - maybe that’s the theme of the season - the season of loot - but I fear they are just going to tickle the numbers a bit.

Now for us other bozos with little time available its even worse. I can at most spend 4 hours per day on bashing my keyboard if there is absolutely nothing else to do. I have maybe 70 hours of total playtime this season and have just as of this week hit 16/21 on spiritborn aspects despite having already cleared out multiple duplicate mythics and passing paragon 240. So far I have a single aspect that is higher than 16/21. This season has for sure had the hardest drop off in interest from me.

this season, yes. Hopefully they change the ancestral drop rate

Its season of Loot StillBorn  But some people wanted it this grindy so I hope at least they enjoy it a lot.

They want you to play at least 5 years to complete your codex of power.

But beware, already in a few months everything will be reset and the “fun” to try to complete your codex of power begins again.

I have found 2 Mythic unique items that fit my character since VoH dropped. I have also found 2 maximum aspects for my for my character class. I have only found about 7-8 aspects that were an upgrade to what I already had on Eternal so, yeah, max aspects are hard to come by.

I think adjusting the ancestral aspect stat RNG floor to at or near cap for non ancestral would go a looooooong way to fixing this. i wouldn’t complain about slightly boosted ancestral drop rates either 2/3 star have been hard to come by, but the aspect thing is a way bigger issue to me. you can usually get by with 1 GA on the important stat but an aspect way below max can gimp a build severely. Take LS for example. if you have a crappy splintering aspect you might as well just scrap it and roll another build till you get the aspect.

I found GA pants with interdiction aspect today WOOOHOO, the aspect was 1% on an ancestral /facepalm

A couple of mythics from infernal hordes chests?
I don’t know how many you did but I seriously believe game treats differently to people. Some people have much better luck than others and it appears to be consistent not something that happens once.

Oh aspects are much much rarer. I have a half a tab of mythics just sitting in inventory. I’m still sitting on 16/21 on 2 of my main pieces of gear since the season started.

Edit. Now at 200 hours on this character and I still have not got a level up on the aspects I use on this build. Like most I use Rebounding, Redirected and Interdiction. Still not one upgrade yet. I have 21 mythics and I’ve even scrapped several, but I can’t get an aspect upgrade?

I think it may actually be character vs acct based. I play several characters every season and while I haven’t actually tested it to rule out pure RNG I feel very strongly that some characters just get way more good drops than others.

If this is true it might also explain to some extent why people who only play one seem to experience lucky or unlucky seasons

It’s just some people keep saying do this and that you’ll get plenty of those. So I try doing whatever but to no avail.

I don’t want to call random people liers, so the only explanation I have is that for some reason game treats differently to people. Because after putting in 200+ hour in all sorts of activities it should even out.

Unless your dads name is Mr. Salt who can afford to pay a couple thousand people to open choc…err I mean farm greater aspects, you’re probably out of luck.

I believe it’s possible every individuals account has different drop rate RNG. There was a period of playing where I’d get a mythic what seemed like every 3 days of playing meanwhile people were doing 300 or 400 runs and claiming to not get anything.

I did not do 300 or 400 runs with no drops in those 3 days. Sometimes it seems like every 50 tormented boss kills I can expect a mythic.
