All gear you use will eventually get replaced… thats the whole idea of this genre of arpg… a looter. To hunt and find better gear to use and replace the current gear you have

yeah, perfect gear is virtually unattainable bc of temper rolls range and the limitation of temper attempts
but we are talking about the binary of a bricked item being better or not than the old one, if it is usable or not
The problem is really the perspective on greater affixes. The tempering “bricking items” is only a complaint on greater affixes. The rarity of them and then tempering them perfect is not supposed to happen on every piece for every person within a season. It is supposed to be more than, not the standard.
I’d like to try to get opinions from players that either played the game long enough, traded/RMT, or just lucky enough to find 3 GA item with usable stats and bricked it.
It’s kind of meaningless to hear opinions from players who only deal with non-GA or 1-2 GA items so far. We can find plenty of bases like these and the 5 limit on temper doesn’t mean anything for these items. Hell, we could do them with 3 limit too.
The pain really starts with godly 3GA bases.

I have rolled suboptimal 3ga. Its fine i find another.
I also rolled a perfect offhand on both tempers.

Im perfectly okay to admit when im wrong and im not wrong.
Bricked means it cannot be used at all anymore or equipped.
Every item you temper with can still be used. Just because you think its “bricked” doesnt mean it actually is bricked… it is just not ideal for you to replace your currently equipped item with the item you failed on with tempering…
If the grind for looting isnt for you, diablo isnt for you. Simply put

The tempering system sure keeps the forum alive.
This just my personal point of view and how I came to accept the new item upgrade system.
An item even with the 3GA I need is not a perfect item. It only becomes one if both temperings work as expected. I know that the probability for a fail is high and it is frustrating but I have to live with that.

as someone who did thousands and thousands of many different runs back in d2, i think the grind is for me
its the uncessary RNG that isnt for me
getting an usable 3ga and hitting the right crits in MW is already a good amount of rng
Yes, leave Tempering as it is (unless the whole thing is removed, and affixes are returned to when an item drop, where they belong).
Only change that might be okay, is the ability to go back to the more recent roll. Like with Enchanting.

Hahaha me sooo lucky. Im filthy Hearseeker Rogue. I just found a 3GA Sword (Dex, Life, Vul) I needed to temper: Vul Damage & Caltrops Duration. What did i get?
- +52% Vul Damage
- +43,5% Caltrops Duration

I never played poe. It never appealed to me honestly so i cant compare.
There is some unnecessary rng, you’re right and blizzard should fix the layers and layers of rng but thats not my call. I play the game for what it is and i enjoy it for what it currently is. If i didnt, i simply wouldnt be playing
honestly i’m fine with both , i just wish they gave us both option like random tempering or pay 10x the price to get the one you want.

according to blizzard the forum is a place for feedback about the game
