Anybody else think Tempering should stay as is, and not be made easier

RNG isn’t really easy or hard. It’s random.

They should just make resetting cost a gigantic amount of gold so you have to go grind pound out monsters and quests and ect. for gold. The playerbase would breathe a collective sigh of relief if all they had to do was grind a gigantic amount of gold and their super item would not be lost.

There’s like literally trade exists where you can spend your “gigantic gold” and roll as many times as you want.

But Blizzard could make it easier and have a reset temper option.

Never tried to roll a better value cause I’m no gambler and I must be honest I’m also really unlucky, so while I’m good with a low roll I’m not so fine when I end up with a total useless roll on abilities I don’t even use on my build. And I think almost everyone who is complaining can relate with that.

My expectations are low enough cause honestly find a good 2GA item is pretty rare, are also low when I try to masterwork the stat I need and I know for sure I have to grind a lot to obtain what I want, and I don’t care cause I love to destroy legions and earn my upgrades.
In my opinion tempering is just stupid cause skill manuals have everything and nothing, it doesn’t help that it’s also weighted to keep up the farming loop. That’s what bothers me :stuck_out_tongue:

I think the idea is sound but it has room for improvement. Right now too many manuals are hit/miss and just feel bad after the high of finding a promising base. You either get something great and it’s a big upgrade, or something useless making the item not worth using.

If they added more manuals with more consistently useful affixes for a particular build, then the hit/miss ones would be ok because those who hate being left with bricks have the option to play it safe. But the alternatives couldn’t be too far behind the optimal affixes or it’s not a reasonable choice.

I doubt D4 needs more “easier” than it is already.

Tempering is totally fine and huge part of the fun. I vote YES for tempering :hammer_and_wrench:.

And that would be totally fine cause nobody is asking for perfect rolls or free stats, just make it reasonable :relieved:

You will always be grinding for 2/3 GA items. There is no need to have the upgrade mechanism brick the 2GA item that you finally acquired.

It’s not an upgrade mechanism, it’s part of the loot generation system which has been frontloaded to the player so they can have influence over it.

System should stay as it is. People who cry about it are just not smart enaugh to develop tempering strategy or to realize that there is no satisfaction in having perfect item if its too common and everyone else has it

Claiming tempering is not an upgrade system…
That’s clearly a twist of the system intention and your opinion. Is enchanting or mastering also loot generation?

Is the key driver of your claim that tempering is loot generation because it can brick the item?

it doesnt combat rmt. whales going to rmt and buy new accounts as they get banned no matter what. it only hurts normal players

Maybe they could do a extra chance if it has a GA on it…they definitely should cap it though.

I didn’t know you actually need to be smart to click the temper button at the blacksmither. Thanks mate!

Agree, whales will always be there but it does help detour the normal players. Could you imagine spending $200 on an item that tempers 4/5. Outside of that the only way to remove RMT is removing trade completely.

Well i mean if “normal players” are buying items breaking the ToS there shouldnt be any sympathy. Tempering is great because it does make people stop and think before pulling out there credit card. Tho im sure a good portion of the fourms are those who gambled there real money on pixels and lost.

Tempering is good for most of the game but it’s too harsh when you are going for BIS in the end end game.

Boost this post - it has suggestions:

Brother dont act like an invalid.
If it was useless, he wouldnt have tempered it.

Tempering is fine imo because eternal/my rng gets no 3ga drops anyway. but some rational doesnt check out.

If it was useful before Tempering then it was still useful after Tempering no matter what affixes were added. Tempering doesn’t make items less useful as it only adds affixes.

What an optimistic person you are ! The whole problem with tempering now is that the rolls are WEIGHED - with 3 outcomes you are not looking at 33.(3)%, you may be looking at 3%! Frankly if the only change they made to tempering was to make the dice fair, I’d be content.
