Ancestral and mythic drops rates need need improving

Hi everyone, i played a total of 70h at my main character, Paragon 255, also leveled a rogue because faming just spinning with dance of knives is fun. And i have to say that leveling from 1-60 and also leveling paragon feels good, farming uniques also feels good, but the problem is that there isn’t really any good way to get useful ancestral legendary items, the best way is to use a tribute for that, but the chances of geting one are pretty much just crap (i can say this because i farmed with friends 50+ of those tributes and the total ammount of GA items was 124, from all of those 112 were completely useless 1GA always hitting on life, ressistances, x resource per second, or x resource cost reduction, we got also 6 double GAs that were also useless, and the last 6 items finnaly were usefull ones but with only 1GA, and they could be even more usefull if it wasn’t for the fact that 4 of them were the same type of item: Boots, since we started this expansion between the members of my clan and i only managed to find 1 single triple GA Ancestral legendary that was also messed up because it had vigor regen on one of the GAs).

So, this being said, whoever thinks that droprates are “ok” im sorry to say it but you’re wrong, the RNG at this game has become too hard, its like throwing a 200 sides dice and from all of those only 1 number rewards you, what makes this game get even more distant from what Diablo saga means and getting so grindy that is closer to any kind of mainstream amazon MMO.

Edit: In my opinion this kind of game shouldn’t have such an stupid mechanic like Greater affixes, it’s the dumbest lottery machine ever to keep players engaged because there’s no real content at endgame to achieve that.

Agree with OP here. Ancestral loot hunt is garbage in this iteration.

Others in this thread seem to have been blessed by RNGesus getting “showered” in multiple 1-2-3GA drops. Congrats, must be great to have a lot of upgrade and progression options. I can testify that in our clan not a single person is having that kind of luck.

Perfect example of how bad RNG can be for ancestrals: I spend the entire evening levelling glyphs in the pit and gambling obols. I now have 8 glyphs starting from level 66 towards 75 as I’m progressing my build to the overpower version. During this time I was looking for an ancestral helm. Not even with the correct stats or 2-3GA, just any ancestral legendary helm. Do you know how many dropped or I got from obols? Zero! Not.A.Single.One.
This is beyond stupid. There is just the stick. The carrot is gone.

Dude im also swapping to overpower and doing the same gamble on obols since this morning and i also didn’t got a single GA one, its so frustrating.

Couldn’t agree more. Ive done 50+ torment 3 ladder bosses without a single mythic drop. I get maybe 1 GA drop an hour if Im lucky no matter what content I do. Excluding uniques.

How long do you think it should last? You know most people dont get anywhere near 60 hours a week right? Should only the people that play a game like a job be able to gear their character?

I completely disagree that loot feels good. You no longer sift through 5 inventories of complete junk. Instead it takes you a week to sift through the same junk. Thats not better. It should not take 100 hours to gear a character. Just getting a GA doesnt mean its an upgrade. Most of them come with poor affixes. You cant even upgrade aspects at a reasonable rate.

I have 51 hours in game on a single character this season. Im T4 but play in T3 just because its more efficient. I have 201 paragon. I have done all the content in game. I have killed over 100 tormented bosses and filled bags full of junk. My used aspects are mid grade. It does not feel exciting to get a piece of loot to drop just because it dropped. Its still the same RNG piece of junk. Just less of it so that exciting feel is gone just because you already know its junk. Having a star on it and making that piece of junk rare doesnt make it suddenly feel exciting.

How long should this take? The avg player barely plays a couple hours a day. These games are not designed to keep no lifers entertained for months on end. I played over 200 hours last season over the course of 4 characters because it was worth playing. I played 51 hours this season and some of that was afk. Im pretty much done because Im not getting any upgrades to keep me entertained and Im not rolling an alt just to play this slog again. Even at launch I had almost 300 hours on my very first character. No way Id put that time into this slog.

Catering to no lifers was a huge mistake. Its not even going to keep the no lifers longer than they normally play a season. It sure as hell not going to keep everyone else.

Yeah im feeling the same way. Loot is easy to filter because all of it is junk. 6 Normal uniques each off 50 T4 bosses. Every 3rd kill id get a 1 GA unique…and then get the same 1 GA unique again 3 bosses later…I’ve gotten better loot off of the world bosses. Still no mythics this season. I’m hoping to get a mythic tribute though, better odds to get a mythic.

Why no vending machines yet? Why I have to leave Kyovashad?
It dangerous out there. :hamster:

Yeah good luck. I did two of those tributes while running a boss material opal. First one I got a bunch of bundled herbs, some veiled stones, and one regular legendary. Second one I got the same thing but no piece of gear at all. Didnt even get any boss mats. I logged out and sad F this game. I dont even care I didnt get the mythic. I didnt even get anything.

Okay, I’ll play along. I have some Obols to burn.

Here’s some chests:

4 Uniques, 1 is a 3x GA Razorplate.

Here’s some Boots. But I ran out of Obols nearly at the end.

2 Uniques, 1 GA Flickerstep, 1 GA Legendary

So yeah, each inventory full of gambles gave me Ancestrals and Uniques.

That’s his take. At 60 hours, he’s in the top 1% complaining he has no more loot to find. Think about what you’re saying.

So you’d rather have a more loot pinata game and finish at 20 hours? That’s fine if that’s your opinion. It’s not mine. I’m sure I can locate some post where you’re simultaneously complaining about “not enough to do”, as well!

Which is exactly my point. You have more hours in a single week of Diablo 4 than most people work at a job, earning money. Think on that.

YOU ARE THE NO-LIFER. See above.

I’m asking you what your take is. Apparently you don’t want to answer that.

IMO there are two ways to do loot in a game.

  1. Shower you with junk loot but have a chance at really good loot
  2. Have small amount of drops but when you do get a drop its always great
Blizzard has taken a new approach… give you hardly any drops but when you do get a drop its still a piece of junk.

No you won’t find a post of mine that ever complains “there is nothing to do.” You will find posts of me saying the game is an unrewarding slog. You might even see me say something specific is boring. What you wont find is me saying there is nothing to do.

I did think on that when I wrote it. I asked you how long it should take to gear a character and you avoided the question. I realize I am a no lifer on this game. I imagine how bad it is for people who arent no lifers because I see how bad it is for the no lifer.
This also covers your last quote.

Ancestrals are too rare true. I m p261 and i find any activity unrewarding for ancestrals. it s an Exploiters, dupers, rmters season(and good traders tho). Can t say the same about mythics. Yesterday i used the party finder for boss kills, ( made so many mats during the leveling that i can do rotas for days) . and i dropped 8mythics just in few hours maybe with 10% or less of my mats(duriel is the one that droppes less for me lol bur rng only). This season is the easier one for summoning mats and mythics. And partyfinder is just awesome for it.

And yet… you’re still here.
You sink 50+ hours in a single week (that’s 168 hours) then complain about “no-lifers” when the truth is that you are the no-lifer that simply gets out no-lifed by others.

“I need that gear!”. Nah, you don’t. We’re one week in, and you’re complaining about lack of acquiring the top 1% of loot.

Yes - you’re a man of the people! No true Scotsman! Indeed…

PS - I did give my opinion. While I didn’t list a number, I disagreed with your need for the best of the best loot at the 20 hour mark, and even the 50 hour mark (as you’ve played). The 120 mark seems far more reasonable for a collectionof GA Mythics, given a season is 3 months long. That’s about 10 hours/week.

I’m just 25 hours in this Season. I own no Mythics, but have 2 3xGA Legendary/Uniques, and a few 2x GA pieces. I know when I play this weekend, I’ll find a decent upgrade, Masterwork more of my gear, and gain some Paragon. Aka; progress. If that’s not for you, cool. There’s other games to enjoy.

The issue is that gearing is borked now. Getting 750 is easy. Getting uniques isn’t terrible. Getting the next jump from that is a massive brick wall of RNG. It creates this weird gulf of progression between ‘getting endgame geared now’ and ‘oh I can farm deep pit’.

Your post is ridiculous. I’m not complaining about no lifers.

I’m not a man of the people but if the masses don’t like the game then Eventually they pull the plug on support for the game. I also advocate for things I like.

At least you answered the question. Getting ancestral is not getting the best of the best 1% loot. They don’t drop enough to get you there. Not in 120 hours anyways. I have 51. Sure I’m using some ancestrals, but they are garbage. Nowhere near the top 1% loot you claim. Another 51 hours might get me one piece if I’m lucky. But I won’t be around this season to find out unless they make changes because 51 hours for a piece of gear is boring af.

But I’ve shown they in fact, do drop. I gambled less than 2000 Obols and got what? 5 Ancestrals? That’s just for Obols.

The only real thing I’d change is put in another Enchanting tier for GA. It keeps the GA Affix Tag. Make it cost another resource or more resources, whatever.

The real issue isn’t getting a 3xGA, it’s getting one with exactly the affixes desired without using the Enchanter.

Dude I’ve gambled 10 times that amount. Sure I get a lot of uniques that way but it’s all just bags of junk. I don’t care about getting 3 Ga. I care about getting aspects and proper affixes.

50 hours in in this season and I miss only 3 ancestrals (I’m 150 lvl paragon).

No need to buff the drop rates. Just play the damn game!

The game already showers you with abundance of piniata drops. D:

So yeah let’s look at it.
In the first tab, there is 1 ancestral out of 36 items.
That is 2.5%.

Second tab there are 2 ancestral items out of 31
Thats 6.5% which is much better odds obviously.

So yeah, ancestral items are extremely rare.
Considering that they were much more common in previous season, the OP’s point(therefor mine) stand.

This is my second triple GA item this season in 70+ hours. Again, another worthless one. Can share the screenshot to prove it through discord, i don’t mind. Just say this because i can’t post pictures at forums yet so i’ll write the item:

Amulet:
-Max life.
-Max resource.
-Max poison res.

What makes me sad is that i’m completely sure about the fact that probably most of these kind of items are always gonna be the same.
The only thing i agree with @Shivera is that if we could use the Enchanter to modify GAs without losing them could be a good improvement.
