If you think D4 has better graphics than POE2 you need to get your eyes checked.
PVP in D4 is a literal joke. It is about as balanced as a seesaw concreted to the ground at one end.
Blizzard can’t even get the base game right after 1/2 a decade. Putting anything on top of crap just makes it all crap.
I am comparing D4 out the gate to POE 2 out the gate, and no comparisons to POE as that game demolished D3 in the ARG scene.
Don’t get the tone of my post wrong. I want D4 to be great. It is NOT. I can only judge a person or a company on what they do. What Blizzard did was release a sub par AAA game. They have a LONG way to go to repair the damage and faith.
They are very different and they are both fascinating.
It’s a matter of personal opinion, I don’t think there’s better or worse but I don’t think this is the only element of comparison that can be made between the two games.
One thing that scares me about PoE 2 is the complexity.
True
Damned true. I played in beta and pre-season…TONS of hours.
Uninstalled today, I’m done.
they need to overhaul the entire diablo 4 loot and engame, they have time to do this before poe 2 launches in a year and a half plus, blizzard made over 1 billion dollars on d4 sales battle passes and store cosmetics already.
For some reason the developer videos for PoE always make it look slow and clunky, the actual endgame builds shred and wipe whole screens full of enemies or do crazy flashy stuff.
lol POE has been out since 2013 and Diablo 3 has been out since 2012.
POE 2023 Peak player count was little over 150k
Diablo 3 2023 Peak player count was little over 50k
POE for the last year and a half has been run by 8 people total
Diablo 3 has been run by 40 - 100 people.
If it genuinely did have 15million copies sold and Blizzard bragged about having 10 million on Launch that means they lost 44% of their player base before the game even launched. Diablo 4 started with 10,000,000 players and was at 2,800,000 by the end of the first week of S1 which is when they stopped sharing the player stats on their site.
Diablo 4 had been released for less then 2 months and had lost more then 72% of it’s remaining player base and it’s still in Decline.
That means D4 had an 82% Player loss in total.
POE didn’t lose almost three quarters of it’s players in it’s first few months and it stayed stable for many years an accomplishment that even D3 couldn’t do.
Based on GGG’s track record when compared to Blizzards Diablo franchise track record there’s a strong possibility base on factual info that POE 2 is going to be the kind of game Diablo 4 tried to be.
I’d also like to point out the total “unique” Downloads POE has is more then 29 million meaning around 10 years ago it was almost twice as popular as Diablo 4 currently is.
A game that gives itself away for free is going to have a lot of downloads. Trying to say that is somehow more impressive than a game that had an actual price attached to it is disengenous.
The point isn’t the total downloads the point is player retention, if they managed to keep it so they didn’t lose three quarters of their player base then the point is they’re better because they managed to keep more then 21 million of them interested in the game comparatively D4 took their player base from 15 million to less then 3 million with 5 million of those losses happening before D4 even launched.
Comparison is Consumerism without which the Developers would have nothing to learn from and you’d end up with Products like Fifa that are the same product after 20 years.
Timmy (Lvl 15 mage… sorry sorceress): “DIV sucks. Every ghost is oneshotting me.”
Jimmy (Lvl 78 rogue): “Plx take teh butcher outta game. Kills me everytiem.”
If you cant build, you will have a bad experience.
My point stands. A game that gives itself away for free is going to have more downloads at launch than a game with a price tag attached to it. Its also going to have a playerbase more lenient to its failings because the only investment on the players part is time. No one is going to complain like " I just downloaded this for free and it SUCKS"
When Battle Royales were at their Most Popular Realm Royale only got 10 million downloads, PUBG peaked at around 3 or 4 million. Both were free to play.
Lost Ark US release was only a few million people.
Neverwinter was 2013 that had a few hundred thousand at peak was also free.
So the argument that because POE was free that’s why it was successful is complete hogwash.
Poe for hardcore player willing to learn 50 different things and never know wtf to do with 20 tabs of firefox open and game pulling them in 10 directions.
