The problem isn’t quite in the items, the problem with Barb is Shouts + HotA or WW or die trying

It’s a skill balance issue (or at the very least skill-preference issue), out of all the classes I have the feeling that Barbs tend to least experiment for whatever the reason tbh (I’m trying to level up a Shoutless barb and right about lvl32-33 died like 6 times in a single fight vs just a bunch of Khazra Shamans :P)

So yes, guess there is still some balancing left/required…

No no, that was what it was like a couple of weeks ago.
Now, double swing is dominating t100 runs by barbs, while HotA got the quickest uber lilith kill by barbs.

Whilst I may not be the most relevant source out there, why is an item that’s near tailor-made for DS (Ramaladni’s) trash ?

If DS is the “king” these days then why does he say it’s trash ? :thinking:

That’s because you are a buffoon

It isn’t “trash”, it just isn’t really that good for t100 runs, because you need more survivability hence you need to run double maces for that.

But for clearing stuff like t85, then ramaladni’s is better.

The problem for barbs to run t100 is a combination of two requirements. First is achieving enough survivability, regardless if it’s facetanking most things like double swing does or if it’s a hit & run playstyle like HotA and WW is.
Secondly is achieving enough damage after having achieved enough survivability, in order to do t100.

That second part is where things get challenging, because while it’s easy to build a glass cannon, it won’t be able to do high tiers. And for t100, every build is mostly about trying not to get oneshot, but also be able to do enough damage to kill stuff this century.

It’s not just barbs. Looks like they got it worse than everyone else tho lol.

The struggle is real, but the one thing that sets barbs apart from the other classes in the struggle to avoid getting oneshotted is that barb is pure melee (except for the HotA aspect’s bugged quake exploit which is just slightly outside of melee range).

Everything else got ranged options which makes it a bit easier. Only other class to feel sorry for, is sorcerers, but they always had the damage, they just lack survivability.

Honestly, I’m hoping both barbs and sorcerers gets fixed when they fix the resistance stats. Meaning since those stats doesn’t do anything right now, when they do get fixed, then hopefully sorcerers will stop getting oneshotted, and barbs can build more towards damage output instead of putting everything into defensive stats wherever possible.

Pretty sure I agree with this point. You’re still wrong about the other stuff.
If people aren’t instagibbing their entire screen, then their character sucks.
If any enemies put up any resistance or do damage to them… blame blizzard
There are plenty of things wrong with the game, but there is just as much wrong with the mentality of the average person who this game is designed for.

The problem isn’t just with Barb- Sorc has similar issues with its uniques. I’ve been maining a Sorc but been paying attention to what others have been saying about their items. Seems the class with the best ‘build defining’ uniques is druid. Every other class has maybe one or two that are great- the rest are either broken, poorly thought out or simply useless.

Quite disappointed with how they’ve gone about these items thus far. D3’s legendary items have essentially been replaced by the uniques in the sense that they’re named and roll implicit stats (not always with D3 but plenty of examples that do). The devs’ decision to not allow any stat rerolls only compounds the issue with these items often having useless stats, especially considering what you’d have to sacrifice to have them in your build- corresponding legendary with potentially BiS stats and an important aspect.

Equiping a unique, in my opinion, should not represent a potentially handicapping compromise. The Sorc uniques are very guilty of this as they give, but they take their pound of flesh too. Arguably the best unique for Sorcs is Raiment, but it comes at the cost of ZERO defensive stats, and the same is true of EVERY unique armor piece for the class. You can either have some cool synergies with the uniques (the ice focused ones- Iceheart Brais + Frostburn + Raiment) that actually feel great to play with in the overworld, but are near useless as you get one shot in a level 40 NM dungeon because you have no defense.

Why they chose to design these items like this is beyond me. These items should be amazing with maybe 50% of your gear slots comprised of them as a result. You should feel godlike with them!

My suggestions to improve them and also potentially extend the loot hunt in the game-

They should have a minimum of 5 stats with higher floors and ceilings compared to everything else. They’re uniques after all!
Get rid of the useless stats and have more consideration to what they’re potentially replacing- minimize the compromise!
Stop nerfing skill power for the privilege of equipping them (Gloves of the Illuminator, I’m looking at you!)
A little more imagination to their aspects would also be appreciated. Not saying all of them should be transformative, but not nearly enough of them are!

Anyways, my 2 cents!

Don’t worry, they’ve said they’ll nerf every class across the board in the coming patch, so I’m sure they’ll destroy not only barbs but also sorcerers too! Relax, it’s all fine~.

For real though, the fact that the main def stat of sorcerers (resistances) doesn’t even work (for any class at all, not just sorcerers), is a huge part of what handicaps sorcerers. On top of the bugs too, of course.

Uniques are strong powerful and fun.
You should know that blizz hates on strong powerful fun.
Their motto is to slow and hinder you down and not let u have fun.
basically most uniques smell like that.

they are not even usable when compared to legendary.

no, it’s because the uniques are almost always worse than a random yellow item that has an aspect on it

the unique base stats are garbage (for instance weapons wont have crit, vuln, etc. and stats people care about)
