yes bdfs are small minded ppl in my book, equally toxic then those doom and gloomers for no reason.
neanderthal calls ppl “small minded BDF”, lol, the irony.
then crys out insult after insulting
Nice coconut
What are you implying?
Diablo is based on Abrahamic mythology and that type of angel would fit well within the game.
They’d have to come up with in game lore-reasons for them suddenly appearing, though…And that could go either well or badly.
I’m curious about who the 6 armed aliens are, why we never see a living one (although we do see statues of them), and why their ghosts haunt so much of Sanctuary.
Could be an avatar of Anu or something
The Diablo world is not supposed to be the same as our world or religions, I think deliberately.
Also, it is a rarity for an Angel to be an ally in the Diablo world because Sanctuary was created by a Demon and an Angel.
yeah Diablo sure is biblically accurate, I remember reading about Warcraft shop skins, loot goblins and cow levels in the Book of BS, chapter 2, verse 47:
“And at the dawn of twilight, God sendeth forth his loot goblins, heralded by holy bovines of Heaven”
and the prize of completly missing the point what the OP described and meant goes to you.
I give you a hint its more about adding some angelic horror to d4, not about replaying bible verses.
10/10 would read again
Most players aren’t smart enough to make a build without following a guide. They couldn’t even perceive biblically accurate angels.
Well we at least have the name Diablo.
It’s basically Satan’s shortened Christian name. Like Mike! Or er… Chris if you will. ![]()
Diablo 3 has a few angels like Xoren who are not standard wingy things. A lot of the reaper brutes actually don’t have wings at all. Actually a lot of angels in D3 don’t. Now that I think about it only D4 has exclusively shown angels with wings. While I won’t be playing I bet S14 will have these reapers.
I don’t disagree. Grotesque & creepy is what Diablo should be about.
But let’s accept the fact that Blizzard is pitching the game at normies & non-gamers. So the less confusing & disorienting - and the more LARPy and ‘soap opera-y’ - the more suitable to D4 ‘as a product’.
If you want to meet them halfway… consider that in certain Coptic traditions, “anatomically accurate angels” often had 2 of… >ahem< …something. Kinda like echidnas and platypuses. (Now that could be unsettling too: D4 angels as echidnas and platypuses.)
can we please just let the devs cook without shareholder and higher ups screwing with everything to cover profit margins ?
and get a dev team that plays and knows wtf they are doing when making a game i feel ike games nowdays are so focused on profits and mtx shops or subscriptions and lost the joy of the game
That you need to put more precise prompts into the LLM to get less generic answers. It is not even a matter of “AI bad”; it is “AI extremely boring when given boring prompt”.
Don’t disagree on the conclusion - but Diablo is “based on” a lot of mythologies. It’s as diluted an inheritor of ‘Abrahamic’ lore as you can get. It’s less orthodox than candomblé or la santa muerte.
A weird spheroid with wings & hands and many eyeballs would fit well into a Diablo game b/c it’s creepy af and would make us wonder what kind of mental diseases our progenitors were suffering when they hallucinated this stuff. ![]()
But better than that would be something less literal, more original to the game devs.
Not these game devs ofc. These game devs are LARP and generic fantasy all the way. The die has been cast. D4 is for the normies.
Ewwwwwwwwwwwww gross
It’s based on Abrahamic mythology, dude.
It’s not based on Greek, or Roman, or Egyptian, or Norse mythology…And it’s definitely 100% western.
It’s got:
Angels and demons locked in an eternal war. Heaven, hell, and earth. Crusaders and ‘heathens’. Lilith and Nephilim. Armored beings of light vs horned and clawed beings of darkness. Animal vs. ‘enlightened’. It has souls and an afterlife. It even has a “Jesus/Muhammad/Moses” (which Mephisto co-ops, of course). It’s also loaded with “New Faith vs Old Faith” visuals and theming. eg: Scosglen, Hawezar, Nahantu. These regions were clearly colonized or are in the process of being colonized.
The visual language in the game also completely pushes this. Everything is cathedral or ruined cathedral or ruined pre-Abrahamic temple. All the “corruption” too.
The worldmap is loosely analogous to Earth and all the groups that have dealt with Abrahamic faith crusades/incursions/colonizations.
The only thing missing (and this is totally intentional because they don’t want to enrage IRL religious people) is a “God” figure leading the Angel army/faction.
That’s all pure Abrahamic (Judaism, Gnosticism, Christianity, Islam) mythology and theming. This is what they based the whole “Diablo” universe on.
Wrong.
Diablo is Devil’s name in spanish language.
If you can understand spanish: https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diablo
Yes, and Diablo is the shortened/adapted version of the Latin name Diabolus.
Who’s original name is Satan, as given by the Jews before Christianity was a twinkle in Jesus’ eye.
