If someone told me Blizzard would completely ignore all the lessons learned over 10 years of Diablo 3, and ignore all the popular themes from other popular ARPGs, including D2:R, I would’ve call them crazy.
Yet, here we are.
How is this game so bad? Its honestly the worst Diablo game ive ever played. D3 and D2:R are way more fun to play imo. I am just shocked at the lack of quality, ambition and direction on display here.
Who made this game? Have they ever played Diablo before? Why does it seem like they have no idea about what makes Diablo games fun??
It seems like this game was supposed to be an mmo, then they changed their mind to mobile game, then they ended up with what we have now. A game with poor handling, bad itemization, lazy level scaling, and incredibly boring skill trees.
I regret the buying into the hype. It was all manufactured and artificial.
It sincerely and truly boggles my mind. How can you have so many grown adults who are allegedly “professionals” who do this for a living set out to make a good ARPG and THIS is the best they could come up with???
I think the game is “fine” but man does it have a lot of issues. It feels like diablo 4 was something they threw together in a year or two if even that. It could also be that they released the game barebones by choice. Best case scenario the first season will be huge in content(which I doubt but you never know).
It feels like something many companies do these days, they release a really simple basic game barely functioning and limited in content. Then all the dlc garbage comes shortly after, with content that should have been in the game at launch but hey, we can make more money this way. I know diablo 4 is different since they won’t be having any dlc(afaik) but content wise it would be smart to pace it out, especially if you have limited content to begin with.
Nah it’s much worse. People like to say this but it isn’t true. I played D3 at launch, there was way more replayability. And there was an actual reason to grind gear, because inferno was hard and you needed gear upgrades in each act to progress. The HC progression race was hype as hell. Inferno bosses were real skill checks, especially Belial. Plus it was the only game I ever played where I made money instead of losing it.
If they released D3 again exactly like it was at launch I’d be super hyped to play the real inferno again.
It’s like they took concepts from previous successful ARPGs and the said “hmm, but we can change it so it sells more cosmetics and is just better over all for engagement metrics etc etc.” And then this was the result.
How? Because these s didn’t play any of the games that have redefined the genre in the last 10 years. They are egotistical and think that their crap doesn’t smell. These guys suck at making an ARPG and it shows.
I think a lot of people disagree with you and like the game a lot. The scaling is one of the greatest innovations. High NM dungeons have been more fun than inferno D3 for me.
My character has pretty tight handling, but I do wish the recovery after evade was much shorter.
If you could focus your feedback on the game, being specific about what didn’t work for and how it could change, maybe they could use that to make it better.
Challenges like inferno doesn’t require scaling. It actually has nothing to do with it. Why do you think level scalling is one of the greatest innovations? They didn’t innovate it btw. The only reason it’s in the game is to be able to play with friends regardless of your level. Likely a push for their main concern which seems to be couch co-op. If this isn’t you, then level scaling only serves to eliminate classic goal setting and milestones for leveling and seeing power increase.
I didn’t have a problem with the scaling from level 1-100 on the weakest leveling class, Druid. I like being able to go to any area and get rewarding loot. I like being able to party with someone of any level. I don’t like having to farm 1-2 areas during progression because I’m forced to do so with static scaling. It has no drawbacks for me, and all positives.
It’s an innovation for a Diablo game. I don’t care to argue who did it first. It’s a welcome improvement to Diablo for me.
