A good SORC builds!

I thought maining a minion necro.
But Sorc looks pretty fun. what is more beginner friendly.
Do you have a solid build for the launch.
I saw freeze source - but people say it wont hold for the long run
I saw combination of freeze and lightning - seems pretty dope
I saw Fireball - firewall - hydra build - people say the will main it.
Any build that you suggest, that it is fun and vailable.

Thank you !

My first sorc will be lightning, Arc Lash/Chainlightning. Will make it work somehow :beers:

CL felt pretty strong still after the huge nerfs.

Haven’t made any build yet, been focusing on Necro.

Pick what you enjoy and make changes if you need. I wouldn’t worry too much about how good some unknown might or might not be. I think some skills will require more itemization to make certain builds work fully. Like firewall seems low entry and safe but some other skills look like it’ll take a few aspects to really shine

Oh missed your first question, both Sorc and Necro will be beginner friendly I would say… compared to barb/druid. :beers:

I would say Necro is more beginner friendly

As for sorc builds, I don’t know too much. I built mine with lightning while levelling and then switched to a single target fire build for ashava. I tried Frost but didn’t like it at all. I’ll have to try one as a seasonal character and experiment.

Any build you get here, is from players that either:

  • spent time figuring a build out
  • or copy it from someone else

nothing wrong about this.

How ever, figuring it out is part of the game. If you have not tried it, it is super fun.
A part of the game you can play right now

i’m here just saying its super fun to learn and think about builds

Also, I think many of the “build/guide” sites will release builds for all classes the closer we get to release, I know the Maxroll folks will do. :beers:

Yeah this is a big part of the fun, IMO. I don’t really plan on looking at build guides unless I start struggling with something, which I’m doubtful will happen.

Usually once I go into “copy the meta” mode in a game the boredom sets in pretty quickly.

Nah sorc is full dead, received extremely heavy nerf to all her skills and passives. Play something else.

Rogue soloed Ashava at 4 mins on WT2 and he will one shot anyone in pvp with strongest single target skill in the game and he has dash. Play rogue and be happy. Everyone should forget about sorc, been once good now is trash.

Try the Stun-Gun Build. All Shock and Stun effects, all the time. Stacking skills that cause Stun and care about that, with some side of crackling energy if you can fit it in.

Basic

  • Arc Lash (speced for stun)
  • Spark (for enchant)

Core

  • Chain Lightning
  • Charged Bolts (for enchant)

Defensive

  • Teleport
  • Fire Shield

Conjuration

  • Lightning Spear (if going crackling)

Mastery

  • Ball Lightning

Ultimate

  • Unstable Currents
*passive Convulsions x3 (for max stun rate)

Passive

  • Vyr’s Mastery or Overflowing Energy (if you go crackling)

The goal of this build is to stun enemies thru using shock abilities constantly and by burning cooldowns, hopefully reducing teleport cooldown to an absolute minimum at end game.

You need to run the Arc Lash enchant for this one as a primary for free stuns. Spark Enchantment is needed if you go Crackling as your sub theme. Otherwise I’d go with the Ball Lightning or Charged Bolts enchant for increased DPS and work on crit stacking as well.

Your Paragon Board will focus on all the stun effect synergies in the Static Surge Board. If you go sub-theme Crackling you will want to focus on the Ceaseless Conduit board as well otherwise focus on the Enchant board.

Man… considering going Sorc as first character… their enchantment system is just so much fun to play around with. :beers:

These are my Sorc build plans:

I think it’s definitely possible to make a good Fire build too, I just couldn’t find a setup I really liked that didn’t require a unique item. And a summoning build will be very strong if they unnerf iceblades a bit so you can actually sustain blades.

EDIT: Had some inspiration for an Incinerate build: (https://d4builds.gg/builds/6156711a-dad6-4855-922a-3aa5686c40c0/)

Teleport is required regardless of your other choices.

If you go fire it is a little more kiting.

Ice is pretty solid, I just did not use ice blades as I found them too slow to conjure and they did not really impact too much. There is a nice synergy for barriers and building off effects on frozen, when you can just freeze with frost nova. This was my favorite.

Lightning… chained lightning was pretty strong…but I only started this route and switched over to ice…not sure how strong the synergy is later in the tree. Teleport is a must have ability for all of the builds though. Don’t underestimate mobility.

Take glass cannon passive. A lot of the passives are good in this tree, but glass cannon was the only one I thought was required,

This is the main reason I am going sorc as first character. Teleport is just too nice not to have.

I really want Frozen Orb to be good in endgame, it was rather meh in the betas. That’s what my first sorc is going to be. But Necro will be my first class probably. I’ll probably make 3 different necro builds. Necro to me seems the most fun, but that’s due to the fact that there’s more builds I like, and corpse explosion which is just a blast…

Necro and sorc were both super strong even after the nerfs so either one will be a good starter.

Frozen-Flame is the way.

the main question is “why you want to play MY build”? just play around test, try…
Its like asking cheat codes for a game

Some folks like to play very casually.

If you look at the builds I used for the first set of Beta’s and the Server Slam, they might as well been from these sites, even though I only used them for reference the final outcome looks pretty similar.

Frozen Orb is far from the godtier spell it used to be in Diablo2. Costs too much mana and does too little single target damage.
