85% of Players Play Solo and other news (updates)

A lot of people have been asking for group finder. I dont think that will be a flop at all. I made a lot of gaming friends over my decades of gaming from just that. I found cool people using the group finder and I made friends with them while in the group. Add them to friends list and thats that… always cool friends to send message to if they want to group up whenever. Also sometimes joined an entire guild if the people were cool enough.

People nowadays never chat beyond whats absolutely necessary. Thats why they never make what could be a good friend to continually group with instead of randoms every time.

in addiditon, it seems cool cosmetics will be locked negind there in a weekly rotation. Will be very hard to grab some as a casual

how many were terrible, extremely bad players, that you made friends with, over the decades?

This is simply false.

Nor would solo mean no mechanics.
D4 combat is indeed severely lacking in mechanics, the game is just bad currently, but mechanics do not require groups.

Why are people so antisocial?

I have a varied and busy social life - in contrast when I play a video game I largely just want to play by myself, for myself, and at my own pace.

I also think it’s strange to levy the accusation that people who voluntarily joined a public video game forum to talk about the game are inherently anti-social or “afraid to talk to people”.

Don’t you have single buddy or two who plays the game? Or use “group finder” to find chill group?

I have 3 IRL friends who own the game, but they no longer play it and even when they did play it they were extremely casual about it. Only one of them even hit level 100 and when he did he basically just quit. It’s not just knowing people who play the game, it’s knowing people who also want to play it at the end game.

Could I use the group finder to find a group? Sure. Will it be a chill group? That’s really not possible to guarantee. Way back when I played MMOs I joined a guild whose entire stated purpose was to be casual, drop in and drop out, chill mode. Over many months it became the most active/largest guild on the server and started demanding player presence for raids and what not - at that point I quit.

A group claiming it’s chill doesn’t mean it really is. I really don’t see how the citadel grouping population won’t just devolve into being nearly exclusively the hardcore raid types who just want maximum efficiency.

Solo Self Found mode would have made more business sense and a special solo only citadel. WRONG! So WRONG. Nobody wants a solo player diablo game.

85% of the players base plays solo because you have NO INCENTIVE TO PARTY. The game is easier solo. You gain nothing from joining a party.

In diablo 2 you actually had massive benefits from grouping/partying. You had class buffs, you had auras and battle-orders, The mob density increase, the MF increased… All these things made the game better. Blizzard has completely abandoned that and created an environment where your essentially playing a solo experience online.

Couldnt agree more. They admit the failure we’ve known since release. The game is souless, mundane and boring. Diablo 4 would be a success if it was a solo game designed to be played from your phone.

However as a massive online roleplaying game… Its a total failure.

I’m not touching anything co-op until they put the clamps down and I see forum posts **dozens, perhaps hundreds asking
“why was I banned”
when items and gold are being sold and traded for (billions upon billions) of [gold,] something is really, really wrong.
-from someone that was banned in D3 for co-op-trading/AH/RMAH use. at least I think that was what the ban was for but I never could get a straight answer from support. I have stated awhile back that I even told them they could keep the nickle(5 cents) that was left in the RMAH. lol.

Yes, items are being trade for billions and billions of gold because the deadbeat devs added their own “gold dupe” to the game. You know people are running t8 Hordes and getting like 130 million gold per run? Every 10 minutes your getting 100 million + of gold… People want to scapegoat the “chinese dupes” for the trash economy but them dupeing for 2-3 days isnt the problem… Its how they designed the game.

yes, I know. did they get the gold to do this grinding whispers?

If you only want to group cause it’s more efficient rather than more fun, do you really want to group or are you merely being coerced into doing so?

What do you how did they get the gold?
Are you referring to the players accruing gold for their gear in order to complete R8 Hordes? Its not that hard with the right spec… I maybe put in 40 hours on a sorc before i was clearing t8 hordes.

is sorc meta now? and did you trade?

That’s my point its BOTH more efficient and more fun. That’s why I play games on the internet… If wanted to play alone… I’d plug in my sega and play some sonic. I want to party, I want to trade, I want to grief, I want to duel, I want laugh and talk smack… All that made d2 an epic experience for over a decade.

Games developed and platformed ONLINE and meant to be played with other people.

Theory

There are 2 main groups of solo players:

  • Grown ups who play to have some alone time
  • Zoomers who fear rejection

and people that do not want their accounts banned for the sheer fact of money (the cost of admission) spent. the time? meh, have more of that than anything else and i’m old(er) than** most.

Chain lighting spec is A tier and yes I traded… That’s the point of the game.

for you.
now if you did not trade, where would you be?

There are many benefits to playing in a group, for example rotation, more mobs in hordes, not to mention faster dungeons and the fact that we collect ciders after another player on helltide.
I wonder what would happen if they suddenly took it away, if rotations were no longer possible because everyone would have to give mats to summon a boss.
People used to group in games because they wanted to have fun together, not because there were additional benefits (e.g. LAN party in Medal of Honor).

  1. the actual target audience of the game until now: the dads with 3 wives and 6 kids who cannot play uninterupted for more than 10 minutes and who would say “brb” way too often in coop to the point where everyone who actually wants to play coop with them would just be frustrated
